yes there is an English version of DWO. It is hosted by Aeria Games and is free to play.
Current Senario: Diao Chan's Plot(think of it as Hu Lao Gate if you want)
Forces: Dong Zhuo, Yuan Shao, Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Sun Jian
Avalible Modes: Melee(capture, defeat(2000 and 3000 KOs), confront(10 enemy commanders), search(treasure)), Arena, Quests, Mock battles(melee only against your own kingdom), Peach Garden(Kunlun Mountains), Showdowns* and Campaigns*
* = these are only avalible if they are schedualed for that day(check maitenance notes)
so yeah, discuss the game itself here, and leave IGN and force if you have it :3 you can also talk about the other versions here if you want

So would you consider DWO worth downloading? I haven't taken the time to do so and wanted an opinion.

its a fun game, tottally worth it, unless you want to wait till its completely done, basicly the ps3 release, i didn't feel like waiting, and went and bought a controller cause button smashing on a keypad isn't the smartest thing to do, the character creation is really fun, and the way you level is also prety cool, making you work for you level hah hah, i stoped playing out of frustration, cause i couldn't pass my rank up quest, i mean i have to kill 500 enemies, capture the bases and kill zhang he, which i got really close to, and then died, and ran out of time, so i stopped untill i feel like i'm ready to try and kill him again, one thing tho, if your making a character, make sure you like the way they look cause you only get one.

The game has been announced like two to three years ago, and last year they finally released it. :'o
I do want to play the game but then I just got my laptop and will eventually slow down my dang computer. . .
And I blame my brother with his World of Warcraft...rA r"
I would say this WAS the first Online game Koei had made... but then it was released after Gundam and Strikeforce came in. -o-" But Sooner or later I'll be downloading--->Eventually....

I know a few people who have more than one character, though one in particular joined more than one force with many different accounts. Don't know if that's frowned upon.
I've heard you serve different generals, too like Lu Xun, Diao Chan, etc.
Could you give me a run down of who all you can serve for each faction if you know?

I'll give the officer info here ^^' and yes some of us do have alt accounts, though it depends on where you are that its frowned upon or not(Cao Cao's people love it, thats for sure) though in particular I have an alt in Cao Cao for helping them and an alt in Dong Zhuo just to hang out
Wu(Sun Jian, Sun Ce, Sun Shang Xiang, Zhou Yu, Huang Gai)
Shu(Liu Bei, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei)
Wei(Cao Cao, Cao Ren, Xiahou Dun, Xiahou Yuan, Dian Wei)
Yuan Shao(Yuan Shao, Zhang He, Zhen Ji)
Dong Zhuo(Dong Zhuo, Lu Bu, Diao Chan, Zhang Liao)
however Wu is overcrowded because of the win last senario, so I don't recommend going there ._.

What would make this game really interesting if they added some of the DW7 Cast such as the "Jin" adds, Sima Zhao, Sima Shi, Deng Ai, Zhong Hui, etc.

@Ronin Sakon Shima: I'm hoping that will happen at a later major update, but then it will have to be DWO2 because all of the characters will have to change to their DW7 outfits xD its up to KOEI in Japan ultimatly if they add Jin as a kingdom or not, and there will have to be a much later senario to include them(because the rise of Jin caused the fall of Wei)
@lifelessdoll_13: over half of Wei and Shu left to join Wu to be with LilacMoon or to Dong Zhuo to follow NiuBloc. Wei has weakened a lot, so pretty much most of the active ones farm or are Lt Colonel or below ._. kinda sad when I look at the rankings...

I have the urge to actually download it right now, but I'm not sure I'll be good with the gaming controls of the PC instead of my Xbox 360 contollers. o.e"
I'll be joining Shu, but they make a DWO2--->Then I'll have problems joining either Jin or Shu...

@iWarriors Orochi: actually, you could use an Xbox 360 controller with the game. and to make it so they almost match the controls for a regular DW game(this is for Windows 7 users, probably the same for XP and Vista users)
Computer->Local Drive->Aeria Games->DWOnlineEnv
technically I use a PS3 controller for the game lol XD
