Cage help

I've had my rat for about three weeks now and she is starting to get really hyper. The cage i currently have her in is a gerbil cage and was big enough for her when we first got her. I want to put her in a large cage so she can climb and run around but we got rid of the stand up wooden bird cage that my old rat loved.

Now all i have is this big wired cage with a plastic bottom that i got with my old g. pigs.

Would the gaps in the wires, which is a little under 1 inch, be big enough for her to squeeze out of?

I doubt that the gaps would be large enough for her to squeeze out of . But if the cage that you have her in now is an old guinnea pig cage it's more than likely too small . Rats love to climb and play , the cage should be more tall than it is wide . Martins cages and ferret nations are the top picked in the rat community , though those are extremely expensive . If you have a petsmart near you I would advice seeing if they keep these cages in stock . They're all very reasonably priced . G'luck with your ratty ! :3
