The elder man was busy, so busy, fiddling with a new summoning circle that his boss had ordered him to create. This was out of his league and area of expertise. The grey streaked hair of Zyane was frizzy from trail and error...a constant day of shocking himself. The runes that the fallen angel had written out for him were indeed useful, though he had consistently had to enquire about meanings as well translations of many of the runes.
Though a lot of the brunt work was contributed from a pride and chasity spawn by the name of Taylor...he was thankful that at least the device was built. Though he had learned to appreciate the boys usefulness it was still difficult for him to work well with others when it came to things of this magnitude.
If you want something done right..you do it yourself was his motto.
Still...the device was crude, the summoning circle was underneath the capsule like device that was meant to contain any thing it attempted to summon. With demons he knew the spells to bind and he was still working out the glitches and quirks in trying to convert it so it would bind an angel instead.
The halo was positioned as the top of the device, like a lightning rod it also could send distress signals. Or at least that had been the plan. Of course he wasn't so sure about using it like an SOS signal flare as he didn't want or need a bunch of celestial creatures suddenly being aware of this place.
Zyane was fiddlings with the script he was trying to figure out how to make it more...powerful. He had leaned his cane against the machine when he was leaning over looking at the script. Suddenly the cane slid...and fell forward landing on the large button labelled on.
The summoning circle was tied into the button as it would write the last character needed to activate the spell. Giving a shout he stumbled backwards as the words burned into the carpet and went from a crimson red to a brilliant white and nearly blinding glow. It was echoing the halo as the power flooded the machine.
Scrambling he reached for his cane and desperately tried to turn it off.
The summoning circle that he created, it wasn't perfect, not was it ready to summon any full blown angels from Heaven. It might have been able to lure in those who were nearby with the strange energy it was giving off but it was yet to be perfected... but the one who was happening by was neither a fully trained angel nor was she even supposed to be in the area, in fact the whole reason she was here was because she'd gotten distracted from her duty carrying a letter to one of her superiors when a rather interesting butterfly went fluttering passed her.
The girl loved anything colorful and was so easily distracted, it was why she had yet to ascend to full angelhood, and since she was rather soft she wasn't exactly first pick to be taken into a school like the ones that trained the soldiers. It was for these reasons why she was still running letters for those who needed a messenger. From time to time she was called Carrier like the pigeons the humans used to use to deliver messages to one another but her real name was Tahariel... and she suddenly found herself snagged by a strange glowing light that felt almost angelic before she vanished, still clutching the letter in her hands...
On the other side of the portal where Zyane stood the who device seemed to be shaking almost violently as it did its job, catching an angel for the one that created it... not that Zyane would yet know that his creation had worked. At least not until the girl finally appeared on the other side.
The warlock was busy, trying desperately to finish turning his machine off, after all it wasn't ready. Close but no where ready. He had to get Almas to look over it, double and triple check the runes, his scrawl was use to hellion script and the rigidness of the celesital caused his old hands to ache.
There was a glow, a manifestation of power, and suddenly the machine was turning off. The gentleman looked up sighing in relief as it seemed that the machine had broken itself. Moments later though...there was a strong blinding glow and a young woman appeared before his eyes.
There was a pause, an awkward sort of silence as the man stood there leaning on his cane, wide eye'd looking the girl over. Strange.....very..strange.
"Hell...ooo..." He started his mind was racing, moving a mile a minute as he knew her presense if it was indeed celestial would bring down a certian powerful figure rather quickly.
Tahariel looked around herself for a moment, hands brushing herself off, then she rested her hands on her hips, "Yeeeaaah? Wait, wait... this isn't where I was going." She said before lifting a hand up to tap her finger against her lips, looking terribly confused, "Ahh... hello, sir! How did I get here? I was supposed to be carrying a message and then YAAAH! POOF! I was engulfed by this bright, warm light and then POOF! Again! I was here!" Her hands lifted up into the air to flail up and down for a moment. How strange and exciting! Nobody would ever believe her if she told them that she...
"Huuuuh? What? Do you sense that?!" She squealed, turning toward the open door for a moment then she went zinging forward, out the door in a flash, as speedy as a little hummingbird as she went in search of a strange, strange presence. She would swear that it was a DEMON! "WOOOOW! Demon, demon! I've never seen one of those!" She squealed as she flew along, trying to figure out where it was that she was sensing it from. It was nearby... and as she flew along she sensed something else, more demons!? More angels!?
"OMIGOSH! What sort of place is this!?" She cried to nobody in particular since the only person she'd seen so far she'd flown away from in her overwhelming, hyper, super excitement! Poor Zyane... and poor everyone else that had to deal with Tahariel...
Zyane had never met a girl like this one, in fact it reminded him of another angel....oh...goodness.
"Wait...miss!!" he called out hoarsely as suddenly she was flying out of the room at an amazing speed. No no she needed to come back here! In the back of his mind this meant the entrapment runes needed to be worked on as the should of kept her in one place. Dash it all! The boss was going to be unhappy if this angel managed to escape.
Many of the technicians stared of the very vibrantly colored girl who was zooming around a million miles a minute as if she was hyped up on sugar and perhaps caffeine. Some tried to stop her, most got out of her way. The angels were still a ways off and most of the demons confined, but if there was one figure who was still out and about freely it was the boss.
It was true as soon as Tahariel's presence suddenly materialized Vampy had thrust himself out of his chair and had begun walking rather briskly in the direction of Zyane's classroom. His aura was restrained for the moment, unsure of what he was about to face he didn't want to show all his cards at once.
Tahariel paused so that she could look around, feet never touching the floor as she buzzed around from place to place. What a strange and fun new place, to imagine that a place like this existed! Not that she had any idea what it was that was going on in place, all she knew was that the place was... well it was unlike anything else she'd ever known. What an amazing sort of place! There were amazing things here, demons and angels, beings that were like her and those that were her enemies... or so she was told.
"Hmmm... Hmmm... which way to go... they have to be around here somewhere." She said to herself, wings fluttering rapidly, nearly humming behind her in a blur. She turned from one side to the other, picked a random direction and she was once more racing on along forward deeper into the Labs and away from the man that had summoned her here. She should likely be worried about the fact that someone was able to pull her here... but she wasn't, in fact she didn't even think about it. Her mind moved a mile a minute so something like that, "This way, this way! Gonna go this way!" She chirped, zooming along on her way toward where she sense something interesting, a demon!
As she came around the corner she nearly crashed into a rather massive... thing, "KYAA!" She squealed.
The big beast turned to look over at the little thing that crashed into him, starring at her, then turned around to grin, "Well, well... what have we here? A fan that loves me so much that you wanted to pounce on me! Wonderful." He said, tail wagging in an amused manner.
The silver haired man was moving briskly through the halls, the aura he sensed had been going all over the place and then finally seemed to stop in one place. He slowed his walk and tried to pin point the aura, though it flickered rapidly like someone was stroblighting with it.
He rubbed his head as he attempted to focus. To the left....down a couple halls and...close to the demon quarters. That spurred him to move faster..what if whatever it was released one of the demons? He didn't need that sort of headache right now. Not another escape, murder or fire thank you very much.
Whatever was in the facility he had to intercept it, and depending on what it was destroy it or remove it from the premises. Seriously ..was his ward failing? He was starting to wonder. Though as he got closer to the aura he sensed it was not demonic but the exact opposite. Curious now rather than worried he readied his pen.
Tahariel looked up at the one that she had crashed into before she pushed up onto her feet, pushed off the ground, and floated in front of him, "WOW! Look at you! Your... you a demon! You are!" She cried, buzzing around him a couple of times before clapping her hands again. She was meeting with her first demon, what was she supposed to do now? Should she say something? Talk to him? Do something? Not only was a demon it was a HUGE and FORMIDABLE demon!
Enki starred at her for a moment before chuckling and he sat up straighter, giving a smirk, "I am, the most amazing of all of the demons in this place." He said in a more the proud manner, tail continueing to wag behind him, "Do you plan to become one of my fans then, little birdy?" He was most certain that she would, after all why wouldn't she want to become his follower? He was the most wonderful of all! He lifted one clawed hand up to catch hold of her, pulling her closer, "Your an interesting little thing, smallest angel I've ever seen."
She giggled, not seeming to mind the claws at all, not acting as one should do with a dangerous demon... but then again she'd never seen a demon before until now so she was awestruck, "Uh-huh! I'm from a rather small clan! We are all pretty short compared to the other angels." She said, giggling, hands resting on his arm so she could look up at him, eyes wide as she inspected him, reaching up to poke at once of his horns, "SO COOL!" She said.
The two of them, so caught up in how cool Enki was, didn't even seem to notice that they were going to have company quite soon...
Walking he turned around the corner only to discover the large form of Enki in the hall. His eyes skimmed over the demon, noting the happy swish of his tail meant that the demon found someone to swoon over him. Great...not getting whatever or whoever it was away from him would be utmost annoying.
Though perhaps more irksome was the fact both of them were oblivious to his presence. As it was though this gave him time to study the new comer. She was tiny, small...brightly colored and seemed hyperactive. Why did she remind him of someone?
"I hate to ruin your pleasantries, but I am here to retrieve the girl you have in your hands Enki."
Enki looked over at Vampy before shifting onto his back feet, holding the litle hummingbird out to show her off to Vampy for a moment, "This? Oh no, I couldn't give her up. Its far to difficult to find something so worshipful in this place." He said before pulling Tahariel back to him, "I want to keep her, I need such a loyal fan to follow me around all day to praise my obvious beauty."
The words called the little angel to giggle in amusement before looking at the silver haired man, lifting one hand to wave at him, "Hello there!" She chirped at him, "I'm Tahariel the Messenger!" She was so sugary sweet and friendly, and oblivious...
Until it sank in, "Retrieve? Oh! Do you know how that man and his weird light got me here?" She asked, wings fluttering a bit faster, making a humming sound but she didn't really move anywhere since the large demon had hold of her. After a moment the little wings closed against her back and she giggled, patting her hands against the demon. He was funny with all his cuddling and silly words, but she didn't mind being his fan!
The silver haired man gave a look to the demon as if a very look could possible kill the creature. But he needed Enki alive otherwise things would get very annoying very quickly. Though the option was sorely tempting. About to reprimand the demon he stopped his attention focusing on the angel ..girl? Kid? She seemed awfully small..
She mentioned a weird man and a strange light. Ah...well then that may of explained the sudden surge of power he felt a few minutes before. So Zyane had the machine ready? Excellent. His sour mood seemed to diminish at the news, though he still had to get the angel away from Enki.
"I am sure your 'fan' can be brought back to you. But I need her for the moment Enki, " Vampy stated keeping his words level and his tone stern. Much like a father scolding a child who wouldn't share his toys.
Enki's tail set to lashing in a displeased manner, not wanting to give up what was obviously his if one invoked the 'finders-keepers' rule... but at the same time he knew that if annoyed Vampy to much that he would end up stuffed in a cage like the other demons that came to this place... though he supposed some like Torekane and Coatl had better cages then others. With his luck he'd end up stuffed into a cell near that crazy Pyro Coleth.
"So long as I can have her back. She's fun to talk with." More like she praised him in a manner that everyone should praise him and as such he believed that it would best serve the world if she stayed at his side as his loyal fan. That was just his opinion though... with what looked like a very unhappy look on his face he held the little hummingbird out toward Vampy, tail still lashing.
Tahariel remained utterly oblivious as she flew out of Enki's outstretched, clawed hands and fluttered over to Vampy, hovering in front of him, "Hello." She greeted him before looking over his shoulder, "This place is just... just... Amazing! Did you know I've NEVER EVER seen a demon before!?" She asked in an excited manner, as though someone like her, a messenger angel, would be anywhere near to where demons roamed... given how she acted with Enki she was liable to be eaten if she ran into anything dangerous...
The man with silver hair looked tense as if to make sure he could bully Enki into giving up the angel if he so decided to take her back again.
"I am sure there are plenty of others to admire you, but for now I need this angel." Vampy reassured, wither or not the angel ended up staying depended on what she was.
"Come with me little one, we have much to discuss." Vampy stated as he turned and walked back to his office. His mind was whirling with the prospects, if the machine was working no longer would they have to toil to find angels. Though it seemed random....in the types that they got.
"You call yourself a messenger....does that mean your task was interrupted?" He asked as it dawned on him by having this 'messenger' missing it may bring more angels coming to look for her.
"You will find quite a few odd things here, demons and angels live together under this roof under my protection." He explained. Seriously if Vampy had worked this angle and made it sound like a good thing maybe he wouldn't have so many people trying to kill him. But..he was stubborn.
The girl fluttered along after him, starring up at him, giving him a smile, "Much to discuss! Sure!" She said, grinning away as they moved, having no idea what was going on. It would be fun though, maybe this man knew about demons and could tell her about them if she hung out here with him? That would be great!
"Hrm? Oh! Yes... I got a bit lost and then POOF the light caught me! It was quite shocking!" She said, hands clapping together before she looked away, "I didn't even see it coming, it was quite a shock!" She nodded, then starred in a wide eyed manner as he explained to her that everyone lived here until this man's protection. Amazing! "Oh wow! Really? You can actually keep them all here and at peace? That is so amazing! Are you like... like... the man with the arc?" She asked in a curious manner, head tilted to one side.
He listened carefully taking in any information she may drop without him actually obviously prying. But she didn't seem to be worried about him, which either meant his disguise was flawless or his power was waning more than he'd like.
They walked until they reached his office where he opened the door to allow her in.
"The man with the arc? Not exactly, there is no flood coming. I just offer protection to those who live here is all. Many of the demons of course end up needed more secure rooms than others, most of the angels are allowed to wander free...well...there is one who is a smidgen too zealous to be allowed to wander freely." He explained, "Though I think I am figuring out what you are exactly, tell me...is your nature of diligence?"
The girl buzzed into the office, going around it before she moved back to following Vampy again. This was a rather interesting place and she could tell from the feel of it that this was a rather important room. It was like... like... the heart of the place! Or maybe the brain? She wasn't sure... and didn't care to much as it didn't take long for her to move away from that thought and on to the next one, "Zealous angels? Yes, I know a few of them. I've delivered messages to them before. So bossy!" She was always being scolded and ordered around by the bigger, stronger, and smarter angels that told her if she didn't shape up she wouldn't ever be more then a messenger. Not that she minded her job terrible much aside from the times that she got lost that was.
"Yes! Diligence! Wow! Your so amazing to have been able to guess that so easily!" She cried in delight, hands clapping together, looking quite delighted. She was impressed with this man, that he was able to guess who she was just by a glance... but then again she supposed that given how fast she moved, how fast she talked, how excitable she was it was easy to guess, wasn't it? Oh well.
The girl settled down on one of the chairs in front of the desk for a moment but her wings continued to flap, not really able to stop moving completely due to her nature.
Vampy only smiled at the girl, for literally she appeared as a child and her manner of speaking seemed closely the same.
"You know, you don't have to be bossed around by those angels....we recently lost our diligence angel...her powers were stolen away by a strange illness, and now we are in need of another one. Perhaps you would enjoy staying here?" He offered the angel and with her enthusiasm he figured luring her with honey was better than with vinegar.
"You can visit with the other angels who live here and even the demons if you wished. Plus we create children out of your DNA so you can have many fun visits with them as well. "
Tahariel set into peals of giggles at the mention of children created from her DNA. She would have children? That was a fun thought! She wondered if it might end up seeming a little strange to those that met her, those that were her children that she was an angel given her size and attitude? She just wasn't like the others, she wasn't a warrior, wasn't nearly powerful enough to be an Arch Angel or able to focus on a task long enough to be a Guardian... She was still in her Cherubim state instead... and still stuck as a messenger and not a very good one since she got side tracked easily. Just like now.
"I would be able to meet with the others? Even other DEMONS? OH! That would be so wonderful!" She said, clapping her hands together before shaking it to clear her thoughts for a moment, "I don't want to catch a cold though... is that passed? How scary!" The idea of losing her powers it seemed was one of the only things that kept her from agreeing instantly. Then again nobody really would want to lose their powers even if those powers weren't exactly the most useful.
Her wings set to moving behind her that much more rapidly, nearly buzzing now as she sat there thinking on it all, "I don't think I want to catch a cold... but... I do want to help..." She said, seeming quite torn at the moment.
Vampy only smiled offering a small and rather forced chuckle, after all he was trying to place the nice nice act right now, this was so much easier to do than fight for the angel to stay and yet at the same time it was all the much harder.
"Do not worry, the sickness was contained and has passed, only our poor angel was affected and now mortal bound she will be living with other mortals for while." He assured the small cherub.
"I would need you to sign a contract though...that way I can promise that you will be protected under my care...and you can stay for a long time."
He murmured a parchment materializing out of the air before the small woman. He took out his golden pen and offered to Tahariel. "Would you like to stay here?"
A little squeak escaped from Tahariel as the paper appeared out of nowhere, then her eyes went wide with delight, "Wow!" She squealed, clapping her hands in delight over the trick that the man had pulled. Obviously he must be some sort of magician!
Turning her attention then to the pen that was offered to her she seemed to be thinking hard about it, or at least as hard as she could. At long last, a minute or two to everyone else and an eternity for her, she reached out to take the pen, "I think it would be fun! Oh! I can't wait!" She said, having no idea what she was getting into but if she were allowed to stay here, play with the others, and actually be useful then she would be happy! Nothing better then being useful to those that she worked with!
With handwriting that was surprisingly neat Tahariel wrote down her name without even bothering to read the contract before handing the pen back, "Can I go play with the fun demon again?" She asked in a hopeful manner.
If he could of laughed at this moment he would of, instead he repressed a sigh. Right...let's give the already ego inflated demon more reason to inflate his ego. But he only smiled and then nodded his head.
"If that is what you wish, just don't let him push you around...okay? And if he gets out of hand, come to me." The last part seemed rather serious perhaps a bit threatening but he took back the pen and tucked it neatly away in his breast pocket.
"Excellent, now how about I show you around your new home?" He asked though he had already reached for his buzzer...to summon a fallen angel to his side. Almas was better suited for this...after all now Vampy had need children to make.
Almas arrived a short time after he was summoned, a smile on his face.It would seem as though the Fallen were in a rather good mood, something that seemed to be growing as the days passed. He wasn't aware of the reason behind why he'd been feeling so good of late just knew that it was there, "Can I help you, Boss?" He asked, giving Vampy a smile, wondering what it was that was needed. Tea, perhaps? And then he spotted the little Cherubim that abandoned her seat to fly over to him, making a couple circles around the Fallen, leaving him a touch dizzy.
"OH! My!" She gasped out, eyes going wide. It was, was it? It was! WOW! She reached out to catch hold of one of his hands with both of hers, giving it a shake, "Your a Fallen, aren't you?" She asked in a whisper that was less of a whisper and more of an attempt at one... closer to a normal tone of voice but given how loud she was normally, "I've never seen one before! OH, I was expecting something much scarier!"
Almas blinked a couple times before looking over at Vampy, confused.
Vampy couldn't help but smirk, he obviously was relieved by how quickly the fallen had shown up, "This is our newest resident, I would like you to show her around the facility get her familiar with the place, get to know the people who live here. I am sure you two will have lots of fun together."
There was something very smug about the way he finished his sentence, he gave a small dismissive wave smiling the entire time as if he was dishing out some cruel joke on the man.
"When your done please come back to my office alone.."
Almas looked down at the girl clinging to him, back to Vampy, and then to her again, "I see... alright then, shall we get going?" He said, looking at his charge as he spoke to her, giving a smile as he started for the door. As he got to it he heard the last of Vampy's orders and he gave a nod of his head.
"I will be back after I bring her for her tour." He told the man, giving him a smile before he headed out on the way, smiling once more. That Vampy wanted him to come back later put him into good spirits... well better spirits that was, something that perked him up greatly as he moved about the task that was bring Tahariel around the various places in the Labs, explaining everything to her.
