It was sort of early, and Sadao had grabbed the kitchen before anyone else had gotten to it. He laid his tools carefully on the counter, and looked at the fridge and freezer in the room, wondering what he should make today. Everything he could ever want to cook was here, and anything he could ever want to cook was here before him. He could take his time deciding as well, since no one else was around. He lost himself in the memories of the sweet smells of all the items he was looking at, picking up the ribs and putting them back, picking up some pudding mix and putting it back to go for the ribs again.
Ribs, that will do.

After a bit, Marzu walked into the kitchen, stretching and yawning slowly. "Mmm, today should be good," she noted, more to herself than to Sadao, though she had caught sight of him as she made her way toward the fridge. "But I should've stayed in bed until later than this, I think. It's too early to begin cooking." Even as she said it, she pulled out eggs, setting them in a bowl on the counter before wandering over to get some rice started in the rice cooker. "Don't you think?"

"Oh I dunno, mornings can yield some pretty good baking time," Sadao answered before he realized that someone else had asked the question. He dropped the frozen meat on his foot. "YEOUCH!" He clamped a hand over his mouth, completely embarrassed, and quickly picked up the ribs and placed it on the counter, shutting the freezer door behind him.
"U-ummm, sorry about that. I-I didn't exactly realize you were here." Seeing her eggs made him want to make the dessert pudding again, but he would be too embarrassed to already put it back again, so he placed it in the microwave and set it to defrost.
"Um, my name's Sadao. You... you like eggs, huh? I've never made breakfast food before," he quickly threw out, trying to say anything to pass the awkward memory of his klutziness.

Marzu turned, her hair drifting out behind her in a pretty fan for a moment before settling back into place as she laughed. It wasn't a cruel laugh, and there was no pointing or mocking. She was simply amused. "Eggs are good for breakfast. I like scrambling them with rice," she added, pointing to the rice cooker as she cracked her eggs into a bowl. "I like the texture difference."

"Rice?! Sugoi!" Sadao's current obsession with Japanese things kicked in, and he didn't notice the microwave beeping for the defrosted meat.
"How do you eat eggs with rice? How do you make it? Is it good? I've had fried rice with egg bits before, but I don't think that's considered breakfast."
The meat lay forgotten in the microwave behind him, as did his previous embarrassment and shyness. This girl ate rice! She must be cool! Sadao set his heart on becoming friends with her, and learning all her rice recipes.
