I've had the time tonight to actually meditate and think a bit and get some thoughts flowing. I realized that for a while now the spiritual presence (if you will) that I have been feeling the most has not so much been the Goddess presence I'm used to. The God (I'm assuming he's still around) has been completely silent. What I have been feeling a great deal are what I think of as faeries (and I only refer to them as such because they don't mind being called faeries).

It seems to me like the Goddess presence and the faerie presence is sort of hand in hand, so I wanted to know if anyone could point me in the direction of something like a list of Goddesses by association. I have a hunch that maybe she, as well as the elusive God presence are attached to or are associated with faeries. If they didn't like each other, they both probably wouldn't stick around me, right?

Once I had a very reliable site for both Gods and Goddesses by association and origin...but then my computer crashed, I lost the site, and never could find it again sad

Any help would be lovely, as always.

Depends on what you mean by "faeries", really. Are we talking British-type creatures? Something more like land-wights? German elves?

Along the lines of British type creatures is my best guess. I usually associate them with British type creatures, and sometimes creatures from Irish or Scottish lore, and they have yet to correct me, so I'm guessing it's something along those lines.

Yuppers. I'm afraid I don't know too much about that whole wotsit, but you may want to look into the Tuatha de Dannan and various forms of Celtic polytheism.

And look carefully because most of the British type fairy things are actually quite dangerous. just know what you're getting into, and if you get some research in and they don't quite match what you're imagining, then check out some of the other cultural land sprite type things.

I've done a bit of research in to the Tuatha de Dannan and that sort of thing, because I'd done a few reports for school on that sort of thing. I guess it's type to dig out my works cited pages and start researching again smile

And I'll be sure to be cautious, I always am. I've been warned quite a bit, but I have yet to see anything malicious. Mischievous, yes, but I guess I just haven't done anything too trying on the patience of whatever happens to be about.

Could you describe them more?
PostPosted: Sat Jun 11, 2011 11:49 pm

Describing them is just a little difficult. I can get a set physical appearance in my mind's eye. Most of them, I can't tell how many, seem to be diminutive in size. They seem to have somewhat human features, in that they had two arms and two legs, and then the physical part stops there.

They seems sort of...personalized or domesticated in a way. Have you ever heard the saying that a person doesn't adopt a cat, a cat adopts a person? It kind of feels like that. But then again they could have simply been here all along, and I brought them out more by being kind. There's this private little area behind our garage near a rabbit hutch where I started leaving food after holidays, just as a little offering. After leaving food through the winter and spring, a blackberry bush sprung up in the spot where I left the food. I know that black berries are surely part of many different culture's lore, but I read somewhere that blackberries were supposed to be sacred to Celtic faeries, so it made me feel a little special to have the plant growing right where I had left little offerings to whatever sorts of nature spirits were roaming around.

Sorry that was a bit off topic sweatdrop

As far as describing their presence,,,,that's tricky, too. They're all so different from each other. Most feel kind or friendly, there have been a few naughty ones that I've had to ask to calm down, and I've never encountered any that were malicious or truly bad.

What about the gods, Cora? It's possible no one here is familiar with them but someone might have an idea of where to direct you.

Just out of interest - I know they're not particularly related to faeries - but have you looked into Feri?

Oh yeah, hah. It's not as tricky with them. I know that the Goddess that I usually see in my mind's eye has dark hair and blue eyes, but I never can get a real grip on anything else about her. She always seems to be there when I make sudden realizations about important things. She seems very kind and happy most of the time, but I sense there is some side to her that is a bit...deeper and perhaps a little dark and carnal. The god looks pale with light hair and light eyes. Sometimes he appears to have antlers, sometimes he doesn't. He hasn't ever said or done much. Once I wondered if he was, or is related in some what, to Lugh, because somewhere it mentioned something about a white stag being associated with him, and I saw something about Lugh being called 'the bright one', but I can't tell for sure.

They appear to be consorts, rather than mother/son or sister/brother. I get this feeling because when they are both together that carnal side of her seems to come out. Her aura usually looks white or blue but when she's around him it's like there's this redish blackish light.

I have looked into Feri, and I found a page about them, and the woman who made the page listen some principals and beliefs from the path, and I couldn't agree with many of the points, so I didn't look any further into it after that.

Side note, I forgot to include that I don't know if that God would be Lugh or anything like him because I think Lugh was supposed to be warrior, and the God I picture looks slight of build and not warrior like...but I could be wrong maybe he's 'lean'.

Have you had a browse through Godchecker?

No, I've never heard of it. But it sounds awfully useful.

Well I looked into Lugh (and variations there upon) at least. And the Lugh on Godchecker doesn't seem much like the one on wikipedia, which I know is not a legit source for much. There were some things in common, but wikipedia had a huge long page.

Lug is just the same as Lugh. And for Lugus all it said was, 'He was basically just an excuse to have a festival in August.'.

So...the Lugh thing seems out the window now...
