I guess The Sims 2 would be my favourite of the series.
It was more developed in gameplay than the original and it had better, quirky humour in it compared to Sims 3.

sims 2. there's some aspects of sims 3 i'd like to be in it though.

I like the Sims 2 and 3 evenly (since I can't decide which one I like more).
There are some things from Sims 1 that I wish Sims 2 or 3 had though. Such as dragons (I absolutely loved them! Although I hated that they kept catching everything on fire...) and roller coasters.
