The Players: Croatoan Enakai Vailea Florinda Hyasinth Enakai reached over and nudged Croatoan lightly to stirr him awake. Morning light was starting to filter into the mouth of the cave enough to let her know that they should be starting back towards her family's pond now. " It's time to go.. get up sleepy head." She lipped affectionately at his mane and nuzzled his cheek with a gentleness that would have probably shocked any of her family had they been watching. The Croatoan yawned and rolled a bit to get to his hooves. Once standing he shook himself and headed out of the cavern for some morning private time and to find breakfast. He had forgotten they were going on a trip today . Florinda wasn't in the greatest of moods, having woken up soggy again from her idiot mate taking a late night dip, so as soon as the morning light had hit her frame she went to sun herself and dry out. She wasn't close to the water like Ruehil always told her to be, but then, he wasn't exactly the boss of her, and if he got mad, that was just more fun. She hadn't seen her daughter in ages, or at least months since the wicked mare had gone off to collect more things. She absently wondered if perhaps the scamp had gotten into trouble...Knowing their genetics, it was very likely. She shrugged off the idea, and continued to dry off, thinking on what the day might bring. More sogginess most likely. She followed out of the cave and peered at the water. " We better eat quickly and get a move on. After all.. we want to get there before everyone's gone to bed." She chuckled lightly and slipped into the watter to seek out a fish for her breakfast. It didn't take her long though with the bounty of the swamp and instead of a fish, she surfaced with a snake lolled in her mouth. the head had been bitten off and left in the water as she moved onto the bank and began ripping at her meal.Making a sound of noncommittal, the Croatoan wandered off to find some grass for his breakfast. Sated, he returned and peered at his mate. "What is this about going?"She couldn't help fidgeting, while her coat dried, Florinda hated being cold, but being dry was just as irritating. It made her itch, a mad sort of itch that could drive one to the brink of insanity. Not that there was much in the way of sanity left within the doe. She had to be crazy to have had children with a Kelpie. So she lay there for a few more seconds, then wildly flailed about, rolling in the field against dry patches of grass to try and get rid of the itch. Finished with her meal, she looked up and gave a slightly irritated snort. Had her forgotten already? "You had agreed to be going with me when I go to fetch the last of my collection from my old pond... or have you changed your mind?" Her tail swished as she turned and collected the bag she'd brough her other things in a few days before. " If you're still coming I'd suggest you keep up and not get lost.." With that, she didn't wait for an answer but started heading for the edge of the swampy glade. The Croatoan blinked. He had forgotten. Quickly, he trotted to catch up to his mate, falling in step with her. "The Croatoan is not usually so forgetful. He apologizes."The itch simply would not stop, her body was flipping and rolling about, and she couldn't stop until she was breathless. Heaving a huge sigh of irritation, the doe stood up and began to shake off the bits of grass, wanting more and more to just drop back into the pool of water and get rid of the drying sensation. Her mane was filled with grass and as she shook, it went flying everywhere. Such a boring and irritating morning was going to drive her bonkers. She looked back and gave a victory smirk. " It's ok... we're all prone to it I guess.. just so long as you don't forget that you are mine..." She chuckled lightly and broke into a trot, her kelpi tail making her gate look a bit awkward as she went."Of course not." The Croatoan trotted after, his glowing antlers and hooves leaving trails of light in his wake. "How far is it to your father's lands?"Florinda sighed and looked around her, her coat still drying and itching like mad. The sensation lessening a little, grass still falling as she stood up to go and rub up against a tree."It's a ways.. but shouldn't take long as long as we hussle there.." She chuckled glancing back for a moment. And she was right.. The trip wasn't nearly so long in a direct path and soon she was slowing to a walk as they approached the area she'd grown up in.Quietly, the Croatoan studied his surroundings. Soon he would see the kingdom of water. Strange how it looked like his father's own kingdom. Perhaps this was a meeting ground between the two.She heard footsteps, oddly familiar, sneaking about, she detected the area where whoever was encroaching was likely to be the most visible and found an area to lurk in. If it was newcomers, well, Rue could deal with them, but if it was one of their wayward children, oh the joy she'd have in punting her son. If it was her daughter she'd have to see why the girl had been gone for so long. The pond was up ahead and though she heard the scurrying off in the distance she figured it was her mother or brother spieing on them. " See the pond? My dean's in there wanna take a look?" She chuckled and headed for the pond happily stepping into the water and looking out over the water."No, the water looks deeper here than in the Croatoan's glade," the stallion replied, frowning at the depth of the water. He was unsure that his mate's father would approve of him.She looked at the pair that showed up. Her daughter and some buck. A fine twitch came to her right eye as she looked at the two, then she snorted, and sauntered out of her hiding place, "Fine time to be comin' back Enakai, and not a single word by bird nor bug as to where your tail has been." Florinda paid no mind to the buck for now and walked into the water to get a closer look at Ena, "Sheesh girl, you been up to no good, haven't ya?" Green eyes narrowed at her daughter as a strange smirk crawled up her face. She smirked some and nuzzled her mother in greeting. "I've been collecting many things and moving my den to be in my new domain. I managed to catch me a special shiny this time mother.. isn't he grand? Very glowey at night too." She seemed most pleased with hereslf as she nodded towards Croatoan. " This is my mate.. Croatoan. Croatoan.. this is my mother."((we started this on AIM but shall be continuing it here in guild))

The stallion bowed his head in greeting. "The Croatoan is pleased to meet the mother of his mate." Clearly the gods had taste since they all seemed attracted to cyrenei.

Finally, Florinda having been directed to actually notice the buck she turned and smirked at his greeting, "Righto~ Boyo." Those green eyes looked him over with a keen sense, "Well you have got your mother's taste in bringing home something to make the grandparents cringe in fear." She snorted a little bit, leaning into her daughter to whisper,"You know yer father is not gonna be happy with this. Mate or no, his little girl is his through and through." She turned to the buck, and finally gave him more than two words, "Croatoan, interestin' name. Speaking in the third person, glowing brightly and all that, you gonna be protecting my Enakai from all those scavengers out there?" It was a sincere question, though her daughter had the mean streak of the family, she could get caught off guard when picking up knick knacks at random, "And you best be ready if her father doesn't take a liking to get yer face broke is all I gotta say."
Florinda every bit a pretty ceyreni female, was just as vicious as her beloved monster, "I would say that it's good he's off for the day, next time you come by, bring foals, it'll distract him from wanting to kick yer arse for touching his little girl." Sure it was a bit much, but the buck needed to know exactly what he'd gotten into becoming part of Enakai's collection, and being a mate to Rue's adored little girl who followed so closely in his footsteps.
She looked at Enakai, "Now then, you wayward little trollop, I'll do you a good turn and make sure to warn your father before you come back with baskets, or come to reclaim more of your collection. That way he won't be instantaneously wanting to drown yer shiny."

She couldn't help but to grin wide and chuckle at her mother's response to her mate. Leaning in she gave her mother a small smirk. "I'll wager a nice new trinket that dad's taken off guard on this one.. he already seems to think that dad's a water god." Giggling she nuzzled her mothers shoulder affectionately and nodded to Croatoan so that he wouldn't feel that he was being given the brush off. "Besides mom, I'm sure that Croatoan already knows what he's in for..Though foals would keep him from lashing out at us all the better.." She said he last part a bit thoughtfully before giving a sly little wink towards her mate.

The stallion listened as the mares conversed with each other, sighing a bit as Enakai's mother spoke. Parents always seemed to feel the need to threaten their children's mates. It made him a little glad he didn't have parents to introduce Enakai to. He could only imagine the threats his forest god father and erstwhile mother would make.
"How could he not approve of the union? He sent his daughter to the Croatoan's glade," he told them, not understanding why the idea of disapproval was even being discussed. Why not sanction something you had arranged? "Foals would be nice, though."

Though Croatoan spoke, Florinda's mind was entirely wrapped around what Enakai had said, "Your father, a water god?" She was able to hold her laughter in, and keep a straight face but later she'd have a good roll about that one, "And here my family claimed him to be the fiercest beast in the land." She grinned a bit, then gave Croatoan a look of curiosity.
Her green eyes shifted to her daughter, and she leaned close, "Is that what you told him, or did your father actually send you off that way?" She hissed in a whisper to her almost too cunning daughter, then looked back, "Well we all know that sometimes those with power can be somewhat capricious." She smirked a bit at the male, he would be a right shock to Florinda's parents, not that her own children hadn't been disturbing, but Enakai's choice in mate was sure to produce some terrifying offspring. Oh, she couldn't wait to see the look on Ruehil's face when he found out about grandchildren.

Enakai stifled a laugh though the smirk was plain on her maw as she whispered back to her mother. "I'd like to be able to take credit or at least give credit to father for that elaboration.. but cunning as I am that was totally something he himself thought up when I was found lurking in his swamp looking for interesting new trinkets.. his glow I thought was something else and to be honest I had thought to drowned the poor boy and make off with an antler... or hoof.." She shrugged some. "But a live capture seemed for the better.. after all.. he amuses me.. seems to think I'm his as much as he's mine... Though I do state now I'm not sharing so dad can find his own little glow bug." She glanced back to her mate and her expression changed to a more fond and gentle one. Much unlike any other kindness she herself was known to show to any others outside of her family and even still she was known to have a warped way to show her family affection.

The Croatoan moved his head back and forth, half-following the conversation around him. God creatures were often silly, as he well knew, and the two females were proving quite so. Perhaps Enakai's mother, the stallion was deciding in his broken mind, was some sort of forest deity, too. It would make for a plausible case as to the green fur about her hooves.

Florinda smiled, that was the plotting of her girl, her warped sweet adorable little sweetheart, a perfect replica of Ruehil, and attitude of Florinda, "Well, I'm sure he'll find something glowy to keep for his own some point, we've all seen his huge collection, and he's not one for keeping terribly many things alive." She spoke the truth, there'd been a time when Ruehil had thought to drown Florinda and keep her in his clutches, however he found that a live female had more uses than a dead one.
"I'd say he's a good find, he'll be a fine worshipper of your father, and bringing round foals to pay homage to him will make him less inclined to be grumpy." She gave a look to Croatoan, almost hearing the clicking in his mind. Florinda gave a small smirk, "I suppose you've figured out that being the mate of the water god, I'm somethin' of a power myself, neh?" She grinned, not being one to disillusion the little stallion her darling little daughter had caught, "You'll figure out what exactly someday, but don't hurt your head over it, alright Croatoan?" This was just too much fun to pass up for the time being.

Enakai couldn't help but to smirk and snicker. She felt very comfortable in her twisted ways. Her mother going along with her mate's delusion only seemed to amuse her all the more. Looking to Croatoan, she stepped over to stand beside him, wrapping her tail around his leg as best as she could. "Mother's... not known for being a push over lets put it that way..." She grinned an almost wicked grin and nipped at his mane lightly. She was proud of her find..

"The Croatoan thinks your mother is a fine mare, worthy of the love of a water god," the stallion answered, nodding. "It would not surprise me if she were touched by the gods as well." He looked to his mate. "Would we really have our offspring worship your father? The Croatoan hoped to have them carry on spreading the word and caring for my father's domain." He pondered a moment. "Perhaps they could do both."

Florinda couldn't help thinking to herself that this one was right off his rocker, but then again, one could say the same thing for herself considering where she'd come from, "Paying homage to him means comin' ta visit, not actual worship, yer more than enough of a believer for him to be satisfied, but I'm sure he'll like to make sure those of his lineage are growing up good an' strong." She smirked, "I'm sure when you've managed to get those foals brought up they'll be more than proud to bring about whatever word yer wantin'."
Oh the terrible temptations to play with this poor stallion's mind and warp it even more than it already was, not that it would be hard, but the thought crossed her mind that he might just go a little too far if tipped the wrong direction, no use if he did something foolish like sacrifice a foal to Ruehil, then the poor idiot would get himself torn to pieces, and Ena would be out a foal and a mate. Nope, better to avoid that sort of nonsense altogether.

Enakai smirked some. "I'm sure our foals will pay homage to both our fathers." She chuckled lightly. "Besides, My father's always looking after his kin." She shot her mother a look that said she knew what had crossed he older mare's mind. Truth was as much as she adored her glowy mate, if he went as deranged as to sacrificing her young she'd put the stop to his life herself. She'd just have to see to it though that it didn't get that far. "Besides.. any offerings to father might as well be fish... or shiny.. and the occasional snake if it's caught.." She laughed a bit. "Mmmm.. snake..."

The stallion stared at the two mares, furrowing his antlered brow. Why were they looking at him that way and speaking of offerings? Did they think the Croatoan would sacrifice his children for gods? His father was a giver of life, not a taker, and certainly had no interest in the blood of innocents being spilt on his hallowed ground. Maybe they were worried this...Ruehil would ask for a drowning to appease him, but in that, he would have do disappoint the water god.
"The Croatoan would have his children spread the word to those that do not yet believe," he told them. "The idea of... offerings.. did not enter into it."

She smirked a bit, so the boy was not nearly as oblivious as one would think. That was a very good sign, in Florinda's mind at any rate, "Well, ya know there are some crazy gods who demand things that ought not be demanded, Rue's not one of them. Save for ridiculous amounts of shiny. " She sighed a bit, thinking of her other child, and wondering where his finned arse had gotten off to, she'd have to hunt him down at some point to see if he'd managed to do anything with himself.
"Well, I'll give ya my blessing as far as this mating is concerned, you seem like a strong buck, and my daughter wouldn't dare choose someone that wasn't." She smiled, something akin to a warm smile of actual welcome, he'd passed many tests with his rather random speaking, "I'll be telling Rue for you, that way he won't be caught flat-hooved." There was an odd look in her eyes for a moment, and then it was gone, likely something to do with the thought of Rue being a water god of sorts, monster of the deep yes, a god was something they'd never thought of. Maybe she could spread that rumor to where it'd get back to her own parents.
