I've been waiting for these on Netflix. I think Manon of the Spring is available now (finally).

Really? That's cool, I thought they were already on Netflix. I rented both of them at Blockbuster, really awesome selection here because I live so close the University of Maryland. Ah the advantages of college living. Disadvantages, damn cops everywhere.

I liked Jean de Florette, and felt that what carried it was Depardieu's performance. He was, of course, missing from Manon, and it was a much weaker film as a result.

I couldn't agree more. He played Jean so well, I cried when he died. It broke my heart, and I just thought that Manon was always a little on the bratty side anyways. blaugh So glad to know though that I'm not the only one who has seen the set! YAY!!

Wow, other people who know of these movies. Though, of all places, this is by far the least surprising. blaugh

I saw both in my French 3 class (we had an awesome teacher that made us watch lots of French films. it was awesome), but I could never remember the name of the first one (which I liked more). Thanks for the reminder! biggrin
