I question if these two deties would really work together. To me it doesn't seem like They would. From what I understand Anpu only deals with mumification and the judging of the hearts against the feather of Ma'at and Hades watches over the Underworld. So to me they would not have contact with each other even if for some reason the Greeks and the Kemetics shared the same Underworld.
I'm just wondering what you guys think. I'm just probably against the idea since two of my friends are trying to mix pantheons without really knowing much about them. The other day the one was trying to tell me he was the child of Hades and Bast and I asked him about Bast and he said that she was goddessof death and reincarnation(I wanted to punch him so bad because he later said She was also goddess of vampires) and todaythe other said that Anpu and Hades were trying to both claim him.

I don't see why someone couldn't honor one and then the other- as long as they were respectful to both.
And maybe he might go into a job like being a coroner, or a mortician- and if he believes in Hades, well, having a death god trying to claim you while you're still alive doesn't strike me as a good thing, but if he honors him he may end up under his rule eventually. 3nodding

Plus he was saying it was like in Percy Jackson. But you're right that there shouldn't be a problem with a person honoring both of Them. Part of what was bugging me was that he was trying to tell me that They ruled over the same thing.

If he's saying he's a reaper- I'd say he's got delusions of grandeur, or at the very least is pretty self-important. People who honor gods are still people after all.

Well, I don't think it would do that well, to be honest.Maybe separate, but to try and work with the two simultaneously probably isn't the greatest idea.
I'm not sure Hades or Bast would be too thrilled to hear that this kid's insisting they copulated. From what I've read, Bast is likened to Artemis, that is, she was probably a virgin goddess. She is also the Eye of Ra and spent more time protecting and defending Ra, as a warrior goddess would.
I'm not sure. I can understand if he kept them both separate, different altars and items for each pantheon, but putting them together like that probably isn't a good idea.
And no, Bastet is not the goddess of vampires, that's one of the dumbest things I've heard all night confused

Esiris: I know they're both delusionl when it comes to stuff like that.
Garrett: I think Bast's only connection to Artemis is that They're both warriors. I forget what all I read about Her. But I'm pretty sure he doesn't have an alter at all. He just kinda does his own thing.

I could be wrong- but if I recall my history classes at all, the Greeks had a practice of equating their gods to other people's gods. It's possible that the Greeks equated Bast with Artemis as part of their worldview.

Yeah- I don't know much about it, North African gods never had much interest for me, and I was more thinking about how people could think they were similar instead of wondering if they're right. sweatdrop

If you're interestedI've always been interested in the Kemetic gods. But I understand not everyone would be.

Sanzolvr29 I didn't know that, that's interesting. So are these more Greek type names more "incorrect" for a lack of a better word? Most Kemetics would say yes more or less I think. They tend to associate the Greek names with different practices than Kemetic ones. When I talk to Djehuti I call Him by both names and He doesn't seem to mind.
