((This RP is currently between me and Shini, but it may be reopened to free RP once it progresses.))
In the dead of night, three cloaked figures floated through the forest and into a small village. Dark, shorter figures loomed behind them, easily mistaken as shadows in the darkness. With frightening accuracy, the trio began their assault on the village.
Fire blinked into existence in the trees, followed by loud smacks of rolling thunder that ripped into some of the home-made homes that made up the town. Cobblestone and straw roofs fell apart and caught on fire, the sounds of screaming filling the air as the townspeople awoke. This screaming, however, was routinely snuffed out one by one as the figures' "shadows" leapt into action. These shadows were, of course, Kage highly specialized in killing for their masters. But why? Why the senseless violence?
The cloaked figures stepped over the broken homes and corpses; having decimated half the town, they already found what they were looking for. A small, innocuous home with a few bookcases overturned but not aflame. They wouldn't risk it. One of the figures flung the books away, one by one, with increasing agitation as the search yielded nothing.
"That's it. It was a false lead. Let's get out of here."

Days later, the town had put out the fires and attempted to begin rebuilding their homes. The Neverlin cultists had been searching for something specific, but no one had any idea what.
Nestled in a treetop on a hill overlooking the forested town, one of the Kage from the night prior watched and licked its lips. Dry blood was still matted around his dark claws and face, and his eyes gleamed with bloodlust. But no... he had to wait. Bide his time until the next attack. He wasn't even technically allowed to just wander on his own, but he enjoyed the random encounters with people and the occasional Kage that he could rip the life from.
He took great pleasure in that.
The Kage watched, waited until dusk until he'd hop back down and begin his trek back home.

It had been the scent that had drawn Triage to this place, and she couldn't have resisted it if she'd tried. Death and blood and fire, her achilles heel, her weakness, her love! The scent had caught on the wind and trailed for miles with the ashes, and she had simply followed like a love struck creature until she'd reached the edge of the ruined village.
Such a sad desolate place it was now, filled with the wailing of those left to rebuild and clean up the mess. The sorrow filled Triage with joy as she skirted the edges of the place; watching impatiently from afar and pacing the edges of the treeline.
Once the sun was gone; then she knew she would bound in there gleeful and happy as she hunted for the bodies of those who had passed. She hoped the fires had not taken everything, and that there was still something left for her to sift through. Maybe if she was lucky she could collect a few pieces here and there. The objects she took from others be it bone or belonging could always be turned into such lovely things, and those things were more permanent then her own memories.

((I haven't colored the Kage yet I was gonna use for this RP but he's basically pure black, any designs he will have will be like gray on black. I'd use Emon for this RP but he's bright yellow and the Neverlin cultists prefer dark ones. whee But this Kage will pretty much act exactly like Emon, just less violent and more manipulative.))
The dark Kage dropped from his tree, the familiar scent of another Kage body gripping his attention. If there was anything he loved in this world, it was destroying one of his kind. Snuffing out that magical light that kept their bodies alive-- it was fulfilling to him. One less creature vying for competition in this lonely, lonely world.
He slithered through the lengthening shadows of dusk, until the black, white and purple-striped Kage came into his field of vision. He watched her with morbid curiosity, hiding in the grass, his ears twitching as she looked throughout the carnage he had helped to wreak the night before. Patiently, he waited for her to draw nearer.
When she was within hearing range, he whispered, "do you like what you see?"

Her ears tipped back, laying nearly flat across her skull; head tilted just slightly enough to catch the whisper better. Triage kept her gaze where it was on the village, and her face turned away not yet wanting to see that which was speaking to her, but certainly wanting to hear it. "I pine for it. It is like a beautifully painted canvas littered with all my favorite things. A masterpiece. If only I knew the artist.." Triage sighed, letting her voice fill with that passionate longing she felt from viewing such a scene. If only she'd been able to go out and touch it, oh how much more heightened her experience would have been!
Now though there was this other. Her nose told her it was no human, and her ears told her it was male. She could only wonder if this one had had anything to do with the lovely destruction before her, or if he was merely another admirer. Maybe someone looking for a quick meal off of the frightened humans even. Triage could only hope for the former, she detested scavengers, they always ruined things with their melding and got the humans all riled up. Not to mention they often got in her way of enjoying things to the fullest..
Triage knew she'd have to try and remove him if he turned out to be one of those types.

This Kage was obviously different than most he had terrorized, realizing she would have an odd sort of kinship with him through the mutual love of destruction if not for his preference for murder. His eyes followed the motions of grieving humans far in the distance, most beginning to go indoors for the night. He assumed they would pray to their unanswering gods that they wouldn't be attacked a second time.
Although his eyes looked past her, he crept forward in the grass quietly, resting behind her. She looked formidable, unlike the last few Kage that he had had the pleasure of meeting. Some even wished for death, too ashamed to live their current lifespan out as a monster.
"Like maggots wriggling in rotten meat... there will always be someone enjoying what others leave behind." A grin flicked across his lips, though he still stayed back, resting in the grass. He would show her no respect, no matter how appreciative she may have been. She was nothing but a maggot to him. Another life to stamp out.

"As it should be. If there was no one to enjoy the fruits of others labors then life would be boring, wouldn't it? Scenes such as this are made to be loved by all!" Finally taking her eyes away from the village as the humans now that they were slinking away into the remainder of their homes in refuge from the night. Turning a narrow scrutinizing gaze on the Kage that lay in the grass behind her.
He was black as night with markings like ashes, dark, fearsome, and nearly invisible as he lay there in the tall grass. It was so strange to be watched by someone else when she was often the one doing the watching, and that grin of his was far from welcoming.
"Tell me...do you enjoy the taste of maggots?" Triage asked airily, her long tail flicking slowly across the grass beneath her paws, causing it to rustle. This one made the fur along her spine tingle, this one was dangerous..

He found her words poetic, but the beauty was ultimately lost on him. He returned her gaze, her red eyes meeting his black, almost soulless ones. "Indeed, life would be quite boring if it wasn't for the powerful ones providing all of the entertainment." His muscles twitched beneath his shaggy fur, betraying his intentions of a scuffle as he continued to grin arrogantly at her.
"I find them... repulsive." There was no end to his insults, and in a way, he wanted to force her into an attack. It was always more exhilarating to fight a furious enemy than a lackluster, half-hearted one! "But even maggots can turn into something less vulnerable. Faster. Resilient." He stood, his figure large and thick. If she survived his attack, maybe he could bring her in to the Neverlin cultists... have her reconditioned and put to work in this life of destruction they loved.
He experimentally leapt at her, no fangs or claws bared. He wouldn't let her get away if she attempted to flee, but he wanted to get a feel for this creature. If she was deemed unworthy, he'd have his fun with her.

Triage chuckled when he spoke, eyes twinkling with curiosity. This one was intriguingly complex, not simple or stupid like so many others she'd encountered. Very very interesting.."Repulsive, and yet you might enjoy crushing them. Just as they would enjoy wriggling in meat. Such a connection between the weak and strong...." Triages voice was a teasing purr, the idea of transformation from a maggot into something beautiful, and more deadly appealed to her on a baser level.
Just as she thought things were going so well he came at her. Blood red eyes going wide as instinct took over and she twisted away from him, moving into a hissing crouch. The filthy grinning cur! Triage could not help but bear her fangs in a cruel grimace, not about to take her eyes off of him a second time, not even to blink.
"You naughty dark thing, what are you playing at? My flesh is not as tasty as the humans, not as pretty when torn. So why challenge me!" She did not understand his intentions, and if he'd meant to take her down then he'd lost his chance, she'd not become his next canvas....not anyones..

Good, she wouldn't be bought so easily. He landed in the grass beside her, his tail whipping the ground with excitement. White fangs contrasted against his dark fur as he spoke. "Prove your worth to me, so I won't have to tear you up like a stupid human," he taunted, his voice turning raspier and more threatening as he paced around her, keeping her in check. "Show me you're worth saving." With his last word, he leapt at her again, this time with claws and fangs bared and ready to sink into her fur and take her down if she wasn't quite agile enough. ((Edit: He now has a name and a pic! Panth))

A flash of rage swept over Triage at hearing this damnable male compare her to a worthless human. As if she were something that could be so easily ruined and tossed aside. She was the one who did the tearing! Who admired the wounds so deep and stitched them back together, only to see them ripped open once more.
A snarl on her lips and confusion twisting her otherwise lovely face. Saved? Did she need to be saved by the likes of him, did she even want to be saved? "You...When I'm done you'll be the one who needs saving." Triage hissed mockingly, whether she understood what he was talking about or not didn't matter. She knew she was worth it, and if this male wanted a bit of entertainment..well, who was she to say no?
Her tail lashed the ground behind her, claws gripping at the earth as she turned on her opponent. Charging the much larger dark male with fangs bared.

Their bodies would clash, tufts of fur flying and bits of blood exchanged as claws and fangs made contact with their targets. His larger size would be enough to throw her smaller frame to the ground with him for a short wrestle, but she would easily be able to pull away and cause damage all the same. He would pull away afterwards, panting and laughing as he shook off the loose fur.
"Yes, yes, I feel you'd be worth saving... wouldn't you like to become something more? Become a part of this destruction?" He gestured with his snout over at the half-torn-apart and charred village, which looked eerily calm in the setting sun. It would be dark very soon. "Come home with me." Her response would only serve to make this easier or harder for them both, depending on if he had to drag her back himself or if she came quietly. And of course, he wouldn't expect her to be quite cordial, given the way he had attacked her and all. It could very well be a trap. He backed away gently, tail swaying, his heart rate still high and adrenaline slowly tapering off.

Triage was left panting, joyful, his laugh was nervewracking, but in a way that made her feel almost whole as though the obvious insanity that infected the larger..far too fluffy male..was meant to infect her as well. It was worth laughing over wasn't it, worth all the fur in her teeth and the slightly roughed up feeling!
"Ssst..of course I'm worth saving! More so than any others I assure you of that" Triage chuckled softly giving the male a proud grin. Her pride feeling thoroughly stroked, she'd done something worth proving herself to him. The wheels quickly turning in her head when he asked her to join him..to become something more, better even than she was now.
"The destruction..it would be beautiful wouldn't it, to be a part of it instead of simply watching others work. I could make my own canvas of their lives!" Her tail flicked as she spoke, wondering if he were being truthful, genuine with his offer. Even if he was what kind of home did such a creature as he come from? Would he simply dispose of her elsewhere, maybe when she had her guard down and was more trusting..
"Home..home is such a novelty...Still I think it'd be worth it to follow you, but I'll be watching you, every twitch, and don't think I wont." Triage huffed softly, moving to follow him and his soft steps as he backed away.

"Exactly," he assured her, turning away, leaving himself slightly vulnerable to her to lead the way and show her it wasn't a trap. Not yet, at least. "I sensed you were a lonely artist from the start. Come with me and show me the beauty you can create... the havoc you could wreak." His voice was warm and sweet like honey, or blood. He chuckled at her threats, clearing the path of brush ahead of him for her like a true gentleman.
"You've already passed my test, no need to fear me any longer," he lied, "Home is just this way, we can make it there before midnight." He seemed completely aloof now, a far cry from the skirmish they had endured.
Eventually, they would come to a clearing in the forest. It was a Neverlin cult base, though he was sure she'd never seen it before in her travels. It was guarded by a magical shell, only allowing those invited inside. The base was lit up by bright red flames, dancing along braziers and torches that illuminated an entire village of black homes made of some nondescript material. The air was heavy, thick like smoke with the pressure of magical forces. These people used magic obnoxiously, for their own gain, with no worry for the earth or the people around them. It was vile. A rogue breeze would offer a refreshing pause from the stifling pressure, but Panth didn't seem to notice it anymore. Maybe, in time, she wouldn't either.
The base was rather... empty. He turned back to her, to make sure she was still following. "Home sweet home," he said, grinning, his white teeth a sharp contrast against his fur. He attempted to lighten the mood, knowing that waltzing into a dark, empty village center charged by magical energies wasn't on the top of anyone's to-do list.
