It took Halith begging her for the five minutes it took her to fold her laundry for Cetalese to finally cave in. Her dragon wanted to go outside and play, not be trapped indoors watching Hers do chores and clean.
We'll miss all the day if we stay here, and you promised to show me the beach, Cetalesemine. Velath says the sand feels wonderful.
Cetalese smiled and reached out to scratch Halith's eyeridge. Her dragonet-- who she was beginning to realize was very vocal-- crooned at her rider.
All right, come on.
That was all it took. Halith was off like a shot, Cetalese following at a slower pace and calling mentally to her until Halith finally stopped and waited for her rider to catch up so they could walk side by side. When they reached the beach, it appeared they weren't the first to have the idea that the lakes would be pleasant this time of day. Another girl was there and beside her was an obviously juvenile dragon. That meant whoever this was was one of the other lucky Weyrlings from the latest Clutch.
When they got a little closer, Cetalese recognized the star pattern on the Green's back and smiled. Though Lilias had Impressed after Ceta, Cetalese had made it a point at the first Weyrling lesson to try to remember every Weyrling's name and at least which color to which they had Impressed, if not the dragon's name. Polarith's bold markings made it easy to remember her.
"Hello," she greeted as Halith trotted with barely contained excitement at her side. Cetalese couldn't stop her Bonded from bugling a greeting of her own though.
Polarith! I have not seen you since yesterday! Good afternoon.

Lilias was basking in the sun with her bright new green. Her soul-mate for life. It was odd and yet not to think that no other being, human or animal would take Polarith's place in Lilias's life. Lilias had her hand pressed to the greens side and basked in the shared sensations of a bonded mind.
Polarith had her claws dug deep into the sand and she hummed as she kneaded it. Her talons, though small sliced through the pale sand easily and Polarith was enjoying the sensation. The dragon was sending a light, barely felt wave of love at hers about every five minutes.
Lilias couldn't keep the grin from her face as the sensation of sand through talons and her dragons delight at the feeling translated along her bond. Lilias closed her eyes and let the sunlight wash over her. The lake never even made a ripple it was so smooth. She lifted her head at a call of hello. She recognized another girl who had impressed a green and she recognized Cetalese from the candidate lessons and the eventful hatching. Her two-tone green looked healthy and bouncy and Polarith was quick to rise at the approach. "Cetalese! Hello, and congratulations, it is nice to see that you and yours are doing well." Lilias grinned warmly at the girl and patted a patch of warm dry sand. "Come sit if you like."
Polarith danced up to her sister. Halith I have missed you! I am so glad you have come, here meet Liliasmine. The green pranced over to hers and gestured grandly with her tail.

This was much better than the greeting she had received from Galith the other morning! Maybe Polarith would be willing to race with her, too! Cetalese never seemed to want to, and Galith hadn't been interested. It would be nice to race someone other than Velath. Halith pranced over to the human Polarith indicated and used her muzzle to investigate Lilias.
Cetalese sighed at her dragonet's actions, but she did move to take a place next to Lilias. Time and inherent adaptability had helped her accept her dragon's innate habit for finding trouble with her over-abundance of energy. Although it never bothered her, Halith took as much looking after as her siblings in their worst moods.
"Thank you. It's good to see you doing well." She lowered her eyes to her green, whose hide was only a shade darker than her irises.
Halith.
Polarith offered to let me meet hers! Halith protested. She did!
"Halith was just investigating 'Polarith's hers'," she explained to Lilias, her voice slightly apologetic. Cetalese smiled at Polarith. "Hello, Polarith."

Lilias giggled as the other green inspected her thoroughly. She didn't mind the contact in the least, this green unlike her more moody siblings was a pleasure to be around. Of course Polarith was more fun but Halith was a friendly beastie too.
"That is jsut fine, I don't mind at all." Lilias grinned at Ceta.
Polarith hummed so loud that she nearly purred. This caused Lilias to look at her a little askance but the green ignored her and sidled up to Ceta. the green insinuated her head under Ceta's hand and hummed so hard she vibrated her frame.
Halith yours is very nice

With the approval from Lilias, Halith continued to investigate the girl's legs with prods of her muzzle, going as high as her waist before she pulled her head back and let out a noise that sounded surprisingly like a sneeze. Cetalese blinked at Polarith's hum-- she had thought dragons only made that kind of a sound for Hatchings-- but the head under her hand maneuver was all too familiar. She stroked a hand over Polarith's headknobs, then started scratching her eyeridge.
Not the jealous type, Halith just crooned cheerfully at Polarith's compliment and Cetalese's attention to Polarith before she let out a surprisingly quiet amused bugle. Ceta glanced at her own sweet Green and shook her head, unable to help the small smile on her face.
So is yours. Other riders don't let me investigate them for so long.
Halith trotted over and began investigating a rock near the edge of the water, while her rider lavished attention on Polarith and was content to sit quietly with Lilias for a few minutes. Halith was never quite as ready as her rider to just sit quietly.
Polarith! Do you want to chase waves? Halith wriggled, her whirling eyes glancing beseechingly between the edge of the lake where soft waves lapped at the shore and Polarith.

Lilias giggled a little as she was inspected. Halith was tickling her a bit. At the noise Polarith turned her head slightly and whirled her blue green eyes at hers. As Cetalese began to stroke her eyelids, the greens humming intensified.
Lilias's eyes widened at the small bugle but she smiled when she realized the young one was just being her usual exuberant self.
Lilias is good for that, she is as calm as the sea, usually.
"Did you think during the touching that you would get her? I mean obviously you weren't sure but did you think it might be the dragon in that egg that you would impress to?"
At the mention of waves, the little star green crooned at Cetalese and then rubbed herself against her Lilias. Goodbyes said she raced over to her sister.
I would love to chase the waves!
Polarith batted at a nearby wave and was fascinated at the texture.
