well... my brother got this nice tank for his birthday, big enough to hold a single betta, so in he put two goldfish.they lived there until he decided thay he couldn't be bothered cleaning it so he just moved them to the smallest bowl possible. that was when i stepped in and rescued them.
Both of them are now quite happy with my lonely little guy to keep them company.

this is them, unfortunately you can't see ru, my little guy but these two are now happy in their 10 galleon tank.
and they lived happily ever after with frequent cleanings, meals thee times daily and much variations in their diet!

What a great rescue! Looks like you have an Oranda and Common. While its generally recommended to not keep Fancies and Commons together, as the Commons will nab all the food before the Fancies can get anything, they should be fine for now, since they have been living together for quite a while. When they get bigger, it will become more of a problem, as the Oranda wont be able to keep up with the Common.

If you really want to see these guys blossom, get a pond or a 55 gallon tank (craigslist.org and freecycle.org are good places to strike gold wink ). Even a 30 gallon tank, and then plan in the near future to upgrade the Common to something bigger. You could make a nice a temperate water community with the Oranda, as they stay reletively small =)

I bit of a word of advice. I rescued a Fair Goldfish, a Common, and temperarily kept him in a 10 gallon, with water changes every 3 days, and he still suffered from ammonia poisining. The tank was even bare bottom, spot cleaned after feeding, and only had a single cave in it, with a too large filter. So you may want to start doing daily 50% or more water changes. You may also want to reduce feedings to once a day, with a high quality food, such as Omega One or New Life Spectrum. These foods are highly digestable, so the fish gets more nutrients out of it, thus pooping less.

I would love to see some more pics if you have the time =D

Maybe point him towards some smaller cat fish instead? Like Ottos, or 3 corries?
