I've been studying Japanese for a very long time. After a very long break from studying I've started again, but I just don't feel like my heart is in it. This is crushing me because I used to be so passionate about learning. So, why are you learning Japanese? What keeps you motivated? (and please don't say anime/manga if that's your sole reason).
Around here, there are no Japanese people. I find most Japanese music to be too mainstream and bubblegum-formulaic (Jpop honestly drives me crazy. Any good indie J-music you know?). I find most dorama and movies to be the same (again... suggestions... pleeeaaase....). There's no one to practice with (I'd try skype but I have no privacy in my house and my parents would be like "the f*** are you doing?" ) and not many ways to practice. It's just become dull and tedious because I can't find any pay-offs. I want to go to Japan, but I won't be able to until Junior year in college (I'm a senior in high school)... so how can I stay motivated? In your opinion, what's a great reward? What keeps you going?
ありがとう!
