So we all know they're not the same. and doctrinally I'm fairly certain where the difference lie.

However, the other day I was speaking with my Episcopal friend at dinner, and the conversation turned towards to the "political" and hierarchical relationship between his church and the Magisterium. I'm happy to say that, according to my friend the Episcopal Church aims to conform with the doctrine of the Catholic Church, except for a few cases.

I'd like to acknowledge a close relationship between the Catholic Church and the Episcopal Church, since that would be really good for our friendship, but I know that I actually know next to nothing about the subject in the first place.

If anyone knows a thing or two about where the Catholic Church stands on this issue, please feel free to give us the 411.

Thanks and God bless.

Hmm of this I was not aware. I do no that the Anglican church wasn't the first to develop a similar idea. In fact Lutheranism wasn't designed to be a separate religeon from Catholicism (it did unfortunately turn out that way) and even today call themselves catholic (emphasis on the lower case "c" though.) Although they argue that no matter what denomination you add on Christian is Christian.

Ok, so was Catholic growing up until I was 15, and then I converted to Anglicanism in the "Continuing Anglican Movement" sense, not the Episcopalian sense, and I love my Catholic brothers and sisters.

I've been in this guild for around 6 years now, I think, and I love getting to talk religion with people who understand the importance of doctrine. I've always been in a weird spot because Anglicanism isn't really like any other protestant branch, but they aren't Catholic. Honestly, I relate to Catholics better and find them much more sensible most of the time.

On that note, it is interesting to state that the Pope has been discussing the idea of bringing back in the church of England.

Well, my Anglican diocese almost went into communion with the catholic church, but they voted against it. Ironically enough, my priest left to go be Catholic anyway. It was a shame, I really liked having him as my priest, but I guess if that's his calling, that's his calling.

The main issue I have with the Catholic church bringing church Anglican churches back in, is that we all would be either heretics or liars. You can't just change your belief system overnight and think "oh, well I guess I believe in the pope's infallibility now!" Unless you only half believe your own church, you can't just switch overnight and become in communion with the Catholic church and be a true Catholic. I think that's why most Anglican churches are resisting, and that's why I disagree with it.
But like I said, I do love my Catholic brothers and sisters! I could just never be Catholic and truly believe it.
