I'm not wanting to debate or anything. I just want to know what you think of them.

I see dating sites, and indeed any form of internet communication, as just another way to meet people. I've never understood why people think dating sites are desperate or pathetic. The internet is an amazing thing. It allows people to instantly communicate with others anywhere in the world, and for many people who are shy communicating face-to-face, it can be easier to open up and connect emotionally with others.

I've never personally used a dating site, pretty much because I just got lucky and met my "life partner" when I was very young, but if that hadn't happened and found myself single in my mid to late 20's (and didn't want to be single), I imagine I would have been open to trying out dating sites. I know that I've met some very cool, interesting people online from all over the world, with whom I've maintained close friendships for years, so I'm sure I would be willing to seek out a romantic partnership via the internet if my love life hadn't worked out the way it did.

I can be a great stepping stone to meeting someone, and some of these sites have great forms of weeding out people who might not mesh well with you. But I say a stepping stone because after the computer contact will come the face to face time and that will be a a different story. It helped me along the way to be willing to work towards a relationship. Good luck with your endeavors
