A jog in the park, relishing the slow change of weather back toward something manageable. This was the start of the kind of sunshine and greenery that was conducive to digging his performance bag out from under the bed and getting back to work, and while it wasn't quiet warm enough for the crowds he needed yet, he was more than willing to soak up the warmth.
It wasn't like home, but it was better than the brutal winter.
Somewhere after the buzz of the city disappeared behind a screen of greenery people started screaming. Warwick blinked and drew to a slow halt, still breathing heavily, tugging the light weight of his jacket in around him and halfway turning to search for the source of the sound.
Youma. Not his first youma, and he still didn't quite understand what the monsters were. This one was huge, a shaggy dog chasing a handful of girls between the bushes. For a moment he was stunned, just staring at it, more than a bit shocked as it turned its head and the mostly-human face came into view.

As joggers and outdoor enthusiasts found the warming weather to be welcoming to their more productive activities, Sheldon was enjoying it for the sheer fact of letting him lounge outside in the fresh air. And of course smoke.
His apartment building was now going a little more green or something, and disbarring tenants from smoking in their own homes. Studies had apparently shown that smoke traveled through the vents and well, long story short. Sheldon had to go outside to smoke now. But it had been cold for so many weeks, so trying to sit in the park had been unbearable - the green haired boy hated the cold.
But today was nice, even with the sudden annoyance of screaming girls. The youth simply turned his gaze in the general direction as he inhaled a long drag of his cigarette, only to pull it back to the nothing of the open sky second later.

Sheldon's peace was going to be decisively short-lived; around him, people burst from beneath the undergrowth, the scene strange under the cheeriness of a spring sun and frantic feet pounding against the flattened dirt path. One of the girls [a sunbather, judging from the way she was clutching a shirt and her bikini top in against her chest] jostled his elbow as she went by, just about knocking the cigarette from his hands. He'd see the youma moments later, a big brute of a beast, shaggy fur around a disturbingly human face. Its eyes were black pits, but its nose was straight and its mouth fleshy, pulled open over fine rows of sharp teeth. There was no chance in hell anyone could mistake it for a mere dog. Warwick for his own part, had frozen, stood in place -- and then, eyebrows setting and expression hardening, he'd grabbed up a heavy stick from the undergrowth to chase after the beast, instead of retreating. He wished he had his performance bag, that he'd been setting up instead of going for a morning jog. chirigami Sorry for delay, I was travelling. @.@

Human lyrics
I did my best to notice
When the call came down the line
Up to the platform of surrender
I was brought but I was kind
And sometimes I get nervous
When I see an open door
Close your eyes, clear your heart
Cut the cord
Are we human or are we dancers?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I'm on my knees looking for the answer
Are we human or are we dancers?
Pay my respects to grace and virtue
Send my condolences to good
Give my regards to soul and romance
They always did the best they could
And so long to devotion
You taught me everything I know
Wave goodbye, wish me well
You've gotta let me go
Are we human or are we dancers?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I'm on my knees looking for the answer
Are we human or are we dancers?
Will your system be alright
When you dream of home tonight?
There is no message we're receiving
Let me know, is your heart still beating?
Are we human or are we dancers?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I'm on my knees looking for the answer
You've gotta let me know
Are we human or are we dancers?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I'm on my knees looking for the answer
Are we human or are we dancers?
Are we human or are we dancers?
Are we human or are we dancers?

Sheldon would have company between the branches, a couple of girls -- fourteen, maybe fifteen -- huddled down into the bush with their heads down, drawing in heavy breaths. Runners, perhaps, retreating from the man-faced dog, the monster that had ripped through three balls before it started chasing the people tossing them, instead. They'd let him in, if only because he was older and cool and smelled faintly of smoke and had amazing hair, and from there they could watch. Warwick, for his part, was going the opposite route. He had the branch over one shoulder, breathing carefully as he looked the beast over, as blue eyes flitted through the area. Lots of places to hide, at least, which meant most of the civs would be relatively safe. It also meant running was hard, though, especially against a beast who could crunch thoughtlessly through the undergrowth. It fixed dark eyes on a woman who'd paused to breathe, hands on her knees, panting, and Warwick frowned. He stooped for a rock and, with excellent aim, lobbed it at the creature's skull. It hit. It bounced off. And the beast turned its attention onto fresh prey, stalking slowly in Warwick's direction.

From his vantage point in the bushes, Sheldon was getting a pretty good view of where the dog youma was. Mostly, it was to keep track of it to make sure it wasn't headed his way. The green haired boy took a quick glance at the girls he was with, oblivious to any looks they were giving him - if any - and decided to frankly ignore them.
They looked underaged and not really worth his time, and those classic annoying bubbly teenaged girls to boot. Sheldon rolled his eyes after a pause and made his way down the line of the bushes, every so often turning his head to make sure the beast wasn't following.
Instead, it was going after another guy. A stupid guy, Sheldon decided. Was he really trying to take that thing on? Heroic types were annoying, so many of those senshi came to mind. He sighed and shuck his head, thinking nothing else on the matter but trying to get away. He might now be in this line of work but he was only going to use his new superpowers for his own needs, and helping a guy who probably didn't need it wasn't in the cards.
