Hey fellow guild'ees. I don't know if you notice or not, but I happen to be a very paranoid fish-keeper blaugh and I think something may be wrong with my betta's fins. His dorsal fin's look weak? I don't know if I worded this right, but they look really weak or something, like the places in-between might rip. Also the part of his caudal fin, closest to his a**l fin looks weirdish... Like, very colorless and it looks thin too. I don't know if I'm being over paranoid, or is he sick? He hasn't been as active lately as he usually is. Here's some pictures, I tried to get some of all of his fins.

Also when he flares, there's a big gap in his dorsal fin. There's also no color in the gaps in his dorsal fin (no idea what to call those spots where their fins go inward). Here's a picture, it's very low quality though sad

What all have you tried to do yet, if anything? You might try some Kordon Fish Protector. Its great for just about everything lol Like Stress Coat, but a billion times better.

What kind of food do you have him on? This likely some sort of deficiency.

I feed him Omega One Betta buffet pellets and frozen bloodworms. I added some aquarium salt to his tank last night, and that seemed to perk him up a bit. But what would he need like, how would it be a deficiency? gonk

Omega One isn't quite a complete food, and should still be fed with other foods. New Life Spectrum is a complete food, and could, in all actuality, be fed alone. This is what I use, mainly, but I still mix it up and use other foods.

You could also try soaking his food in garlic water, too. Might help him out some. Just buy a clove of fresh garlic, and chop up a little section of it, put in a little bit of tank water, and soak his food in there for a few minutes. You dump the whole thing in the tank.

New Life Spectrum is the best food you can buy no doubt, unless you make your own lol . But from what I understand, I always thought Omega One was a close second, it has no meals or preservatives and it's first few ingredients are pure fish sweatdrop But I guess it's just personal preference.

I also tried garlic before, but my fishy hated it for some reason. He went after the pellets, gobbled them up then spit them out and started flailing around like it disgusted him sad

Yeah, its really close. It does actually have a preservative in it, Ethoxyquin. Its know to cause troubles in the dog and cat world, but I never noticed a problem with it in the short time I fed my fish on Omega One.

Aw, lol No doubt its kind of yucky. Some fish go nuts for it, though. My Clown Pleco will eat straight garlic o.O
