Ok, I know people are actually OPEN to the idea that someone can be Christian and follow geeky hobbies (like comic books and most notoriously D&D) but thirty years ago it was an alien, almost blasphemous idea. Even so for some this idea is still a little intimidating and a few feel uncomfortable admitting to being both. I just wonder how you feel about this phenomenon and whether or not you're both? (I'm both a Catholic and an avid gamer.)

I am a gamer, a comic guy and a fantasy reader. Fiction is fiction and can teach some values that are rippled from other teachings.

Dividing Solid I am a gamer, a comic guy and a fantasy reader. Fiction is fiction and can teach some values that are rippled from other teachings. That and games can help teach valuable skills aside from the game itself.

I LOVE video games. I'm a total Nintendo fanboy. Zelda, Mario, Starfox, Goldeneye (both the original and the remake), Mario Kart, etc. Awww yeeeeeeeeaaah. smile
I'm also a total sci-fi geek. Doctor Who, Torchwood, Stargate (SG 1 is the best), Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek....you get the picture.
Fiction is fiction, and most "geeky" things sort of revolve around some sort of battle between good and evil, with "good" usually triumphing (unless you get game over; then evil takes over the world and it's all your fault), which is a concept all Christians should be able to get on board with.
So yeah. Let your geek flag fly as far as I'm concerned.

Uh-huh, a nintendo fan eh (I love Zelda too but I don't consider myself a nintendo fan) but as you've undoubtably heard me say fiction has been a noted tool for conveying Christian ideas (like Narnia for example.)
