Before they were called Monthly Collectibles they were Thank You Letters. Anyhow when I first joined Gaia I was 13, no job or allowance and I wanted to buy letters. So every month I would scrounge up $10 for four letter. I think one time I sent them all coins. I have a letter that they sent back to me saying they'd accept the coins this one time but from now on they would prefer bills. xD I thought that was pretty funny.

You are lucky, because they would not allow Canadians to buy letters until later in on 04. gonk

I have donated to site since donations were available..
I started off on a different account of course and mail a check to the Gaia headquarters.
I kept doing that until they changed it to G Cash.
It was mainly due to losing this account for years until recently.
I am not 100% certain but I think they changed things around the time I lost my account. sweatdrop
I do know some turning points about donating history it was around October 03 they allowed Paypal? I am not for certain though and I do know it was in October they allowed multiple donations to take place.
So if you donated more than 2.50 you got more than just 1 item.
I know in July 03 I wanted more than one item so I donated 5.00 and did not receive an extra letter. sweatdrop
Sad to say I do not have many of my old items anymore. sweatdrop
