Sooo, I acquired a wisteria plant that was going to be tossed because it's unsellable. Perfectly good and all that, but I'm not putting it in my betta tank-- dunno what could be on it.
I have a spare fish bowl. I was going to turn it into a mini garden, but my heart just isn't into it. So I was going to fill it with water and put the wisteria in there.
Is there ANYTHING that is suitable for bowl life? Bettas not included-- everyone keeps telling me they're really just fine in a bowl but ~I disagree~. Anything I can think of (including ghost shrimp) seems out of the question. Maybe a snail.
If not, I'm quite happy keeping it around purely for plants and decorations. But maybe someone can assure me that there is something that wouldn't be cruel to keep in a bowl?

What size is it? If it's more than a gallon, you can plant it up, put in a root tab, and have a colony of shrimp in there! That is, until they start poppin' out too many babies and you need to upgrade lol Red Cherry Shrimp are my favorite smile

My betta and frogs eat ghost shrimp, would they also eat red cherry shrimp? Because, I could cull the herd by feeding the extras to my tank. wink Multi purpose decoration/shrimp farm.

If you could get a like a 2 1/2 gallon or larger bowl, you'd be in business! Check everywhere, the kitchen section at WalMart, Goodwill, the dollar store... You can find some cool stuff if you just look wink
You can certainly do that! I'd also suggest adding some new blood a few times a year, even if you just buy two or three at a time smile they tend to lose their color after too much inbreeding.

I ended up trying to put a snail in there, felt terrible about it, and put it in my 5gal. razz So now I have Big Franklin and Little Franklin the snails, and they do a pretty good job together. I was considering a second snail anyways, so there we go. I may eventually get another spurt of motivation and try to buy a giant bowl in which I can put some actual things. xd It's just plants right now that I rescued from our dumpster but didn't want to put in my regular tank.

Don't forget to add some ferts, or to change the water out weekly with water from your tank, so that the plants have a nutrient supply smile
