Ice Queen ((Your setup. You can move to a new thread if you want^_^)) I suggest plotting out what you want to do before starting, cooperation is a good thing! I think we'll go with the ruby in the Rade caves idea, as well. *shrugs* it's as good a plot as any. Your villain will be Baron. He could show up or he could not, but there is a strong chance he will. Don't kill him, though, I want to keep him around. Make sure you bring weapons, equipment, and supplies because this trip could last a while. You might make a list in your first post, showing what you plan on working with. Try to keep the RP moving as fast as possible since there will be a time limit. The time limit can be extended if I feel you're trying, but if it dies for a long period of time you will have to start over. I'll give you two weeks. The morning was fresh and gentle with the scent of various flowers and herbs tinging the air. The sounds of running water were not far off, a silent whisper of moisture that sluiced off rocks and into the newly made pond.
A slight breeze brushed the foliage that was beginning to peek up and around, twisting through the branches and leaves. Playing a game of tag amongst the living things and the non-living.
Chae sat on the back steps to the home, several pots of plants, hyssop and mints and nasturtiums and Oregano...as well as some colorful peppers decorating her stoop. She relaxed with a cup of tea nestled in her slightly chilled hands and watched with curiosity the actions of the Masque child that she shared home and hearth with.
Shiva sat quietly amongst the budding life, knees folded beneath her, face a study of concentration even as her eyes lay closed, lashes dark against pale skin. She had not moved from this position for quite some time, listening carefully to the sounds around her, focusing on losing herself so completely in the world that was around her that she ceased to exist for a time.
There was scent, and sound, and taste, and feel. Then there was the lack of all those things. Someday, she would be able to control herself to the extent that none of those things could impact upon her without her consent.
But that time was not now.
Sighing in slight frustration, she opened her eyes and got to her feet even as she saw that her guardian was waiting for her. Like always. She liked that about Chaeval. Whether she meant to or not, the woman never interfered.

Kataio had taken last night to sleep, and so she would sleep for many good hours. The way she was made to be when she was younger she could run for days on little to no sleep and then just up and pick one night to pass out for a good 10 hours and be perfectly fine. Kata rolled over smelling some sort of food cooking in the other room.
Zahar already had learned the best way to get her gaurdian to get up, make her some breakfast. Of course she would make enough for more then just the two of them incase more people stopped by, and that happened often with the not so good cooks around here.
Zahar did not really like cooking, or getting dirty, she mostly liked planing and supervising. Kataio had given Zahar a notebook and she used it quite often drawing out pictures of useful object, buildings and clothing ideas. She also was slowly teaching Kata how to manage her time, this was a task and a half.
Kata grumbled and finally crawled out of her bed. She slipped into a clean set of clothes and walked into the kitchen. "Ok. I'm up, I'm up. Do you always have to wake me up so early." Kataio took the spatula that Zahar was holding out ot her and started to stir the mostly cooked meat.
Zahar left the room with a smile. "I will be back. I am going to see who else is up at this hour and if they would like something to eat." And with that Zahar walked out into the fresh morning air. She loved the morning, especially the first light, everything seemed more alive and vibrant. "Hello is anyone else up? Kataio is making breakfast again for us!" She called out to any other masks that were in the area, since the gaurdians could only hear their own mask speaking.

Zahar's voice flittered through his head and Nika groaned. He didn't want to get up yet... He ducked under his pillow. No. It was far too early to be awake. The smell of food leaked through the crack inbetween pillow and matress. Hmm... maybe it wasn't so bad being awake if he had food. yawning he sat up and stretched.
There were two different smells. One definately smelt good but the other was burned? Uh-oh. Gee had been cooking again. He was sure that was where the burnt smell came from. He remembered that there were two smells however and he wandered out of his bedrooms and into the kitchen, not bothering to change out of his pajamas. They were too comfy, even if they had teddy-bears on them. He liked teddy-bears.
Gee leaned over the stove, inspecting something that was black and crispy, not at all something he wanted to eat. Nika wasn't very picky but that -whatever it was- didn't look very appetizing.
G_E had heard Nika wander into the kitchen and spoke without looking at him, "I tried to make breakfast... tried being the keword there."
She'd never been very good at cooking and didn't claim to be.
Nika's shoulders shook with laughter, 'Zahar says that Kata had made food for those who didn't or can't... We're allowed to go eat with them'
G_E smiled at him and briefly wondered how he'd known Kata had said that. Shrugging it off she walked out the front door, "What are we waiting for then? Let's go grab some grub!"
She waited for Nika to catch up with her and together the pair walked to the place where Zahar and Kata were staying. Nika was still wearing his teddy-bear pajamas.

Chae watched the child approach, and held out her hand for the girl to take. "Good morning. I still don't know how you get up so early, or so quietly."
*Practice.* she answered in her quiet and slightly melodic tones.
"Like learning to take a cold shower?" Chae teased.
*One would imagine.* she replied with an impish tilt to her glance. *I am not sure why one would try though.*
Chae laughed, picking the child up. "One can only guess. What would you like to do today, then? It's beautiful out."
*We can finish the rest of the planting you wanted to do.* she said. ]*or even start that new book you got. War and Peace?.*
"Im not sure if we are ready for that one yet, Shiv." she cautioned. "You're reading alot, but that's a pretty heavy piece of literature."
*Then it may just take us a bit longer, right?*
And that...was the essence of Shiva's mentality. Nothing was impossible, merely more ... or less effortful.
She was crazy about this kid.

"I already told you, Scagg, I need you here. I--" Ice stopped, smirking slightly as an idea hit her. She looked around, trying to figure out how to get everyone's attention. After a few seconds she decided to just knock on random doors until a few of them got irritated enough to come listen.
She was heading for the first door as she caught sight of a few of the colonists walking towards one house. She shrugged, catching up with them.
"Hey, G_E! I need a favor." She called, absently ruffling Nika's hair. "You can say no, of course, but I can't go right now, and if we don't get that ruby..." She stopped, shaking her head slightly. "I'll start over. See, when I was being held captive by the Rade I noticed this ruby that Baron kept in his den. I couldn't grab it before I left because I was too busy picking up masks. But... well, it's really important to get it."
She stopped, shrugging. "It's probably too dangerous for you and Nika to go alone... maybe if you could find a friend or two? That is, if you want to go in the first place."

G_E slowly turned around when she heard Ice call her name. She lifted an eyebrow and listened carefully to what the other woman was saying. Her eyes grew wide. Go back to the rade...? Sneak into Baron's den? Get a ruby? What ruby?
Baron had saved her life and she was grateful for that... but he'd held Ice prisoner and threatened to kill Io. Did she really want to go back there? Hell yes! The adventure sounded dangerous... but fun at the same time. Ice wanted a ruby and G_E thought it would be fun to go and play Indianna Jones. She wouldn't go alone, no way. A few others could come. So there was no harm in it...
'As long as we get to eat first...' Nika shook his head, the hair falling back into place, and rubbed his stomache, 'I'm starved.'
"I'll go Ice," she smiled, "but I'm not sure if Nika should come with me...What ruby? "
Nika rolled his eyes at Gee. He understood how she felt and knew that it was probably for the best... but he wanted to go too. She wouldn't always be there for him. What better way to learn how to take care of himself then with her and other perfectly capable people?
'Gee, may I go?' he looked up at his gaurdian with those big, puppy-dog eyes. The ones he knew she couldn't say 'No!' to.
She groaned. How could she say know to such an adorable face? No, she said to herself, don't give in.
'Please?'
She sighed, "Alright... but if anything worse than horrible happens we're coming straight home."
'Hurray! An adventure! I'm a going to go on an adventure!' He hugged her leg and sat on her foot, giggling at his choice of words.
G_E rolled her eyes... This wasn't good... all he ever had to do was look at her with those big, pleading puppy-dog eyes and she gave in.
"Now who should we ask to come along with us?" She tried to shake him off her leg but he held on. She held back a laugh and tried to take a step. She managed but it was awkward trying to walk with him clinging to her leg.
'Well... we are going to get some food from Kata and Zahar. Why don't we ask them?'
"Alright but you have to let go! You're such a goof." she giggled shaking her leg. Nika shook his head and squeazed her leg tighter.
She groaned and continued on her way to Kata's house, Nika clinging to her leg the entire way there.

Kata grumbled as she watch Zahar lead Nika and G_E in. "I am not a homemaker, this isn't what it looks like" She took the how frying pan off the element and placed it on a table saver in the middle of the table. "We have some bread, meat and a berry desert?" Kataio looked at Zahar to make sure she was right about the berries.
"I made most of it but do not tell Gee. It is more fun when Kataio is embarrassed like this." Zahar looked at Kata with a smile. "You going to set the table now?"
"Somedays I really wish I couldn't hear you either..." Kata grabbed down a couple place settings putting them around the table. "Have yourselves a seat before it gets all cold like. Za- I mean I slaved over a hot stove for all this and it's much better then spam any day." Kataio laughed thinking about the first meal she had tried to make in camp.
Zahar behind her seat and smiled at the guests in their home. As ever proper she offered G_E and Nika to sit first. She also watched at KAta just plopped right down. "I should teach you a thing or two about what is polite."

Nika smiled at Zahar and sat down, 'I won't tell her a thing.'
G_E lifted an eyebrow at Nika. What was that about? She shrugged and sat down in the chair beside the boy, "Nika said that Zahar told him it was alright for us to come and eat here... Thank you. I can't cook... at all..."
Nika and G_E helped themselves to some food, being careful not to take too much. G_E wasn't even sure if she could eat anymore, she was too excited about going to get that ruby.
"Kata? Ice wants a few of us to go to the rade caves and fetch a ruby from Baron's quarters. I was wondering if you'd like to come a long?"

"Oh... well as long as it gets me away from dishes count me in. I think I saw Shiva out one of the windows, how about Chae' and Shiva? It might be nice to have a couple more to go against some rades." Kata's memory run back to her near death experience with the rades some time ago.
Zahar had sat down soon after everyone else, taking a small helping of food for her plate. She sat stright in her chair trying not to laugh at how her gaurdian was acting over the rades. She picked up her fork and smiled over to Nika. "I hope you like it. It is nothing like we should have for breakfast but it is all we have at the moment."
"You shouldn't complain Zahar at least we have food." Kata muttered still thinking about the rades.

Nika nodded in agreement with Kata, 'It's a good meal, compared to some of the others I've had...' he chuckled and glanced at Gee who shrugged and took a bite of meat.
G_E glanced up at Kata and smiled, "Alright then, after we eat why don't we go ask them if they'd like to come along? We'll need to pack the nessary items after we find out if they're coming or not, if we want to get a head start. What should we bring? Weapons and food of course but what else?"

It had been about an hour of planting, when Shiva looked up, and then got to her feet.
*Company.*
Chaeval got to her knees, looking up with a grin at the two Masque children and guardians. "Hello!" she said, rubbing her hands in a towel to clean them off. "Sorry about the mess...a little later and you would have been in time for the mud wrestling."
Shiva giggled at the thought. *Wrestling?*

G_E laughed, "Mud wrestling? Sounds fun..."
Nika lifted an eyebrow and held back a laugh, if he hadn't the water he was busy drinking would have squirted out of his mouth.... and all over Zahar. He managed to shakily swallow.
"Chae, Ice wants a group of us to go back to the rade caves and fetch a ruby from baron's quarters. So far Nika, Zahar, Kata and I are going. Would you and Shiva like to come?"
'We're not ready to go yet... we still need to pack. What do you think we should take?' he looked around at the other masque children. 'I know for sure we're taking weapons... I wonder what Gee will give me...?'
G_E glanced at Nika, "I'm not sure yet..."

Chae squinted her eyes at the two. "Rades? Aren't they native and nasty predators?" The thought of not just her, but Shiva going made her friendly grin suddenly wary. She was not fond of the thought of shoving any child, not even special ones such as these, into danger.
"Tell me about this first. Remember, I haven't been here long." Getting to her feet she brushed the dirt from her knees. "Tea?"

G_E smiled kindly and shook her head, "No thank you."
She sighed, "What to tell? Um... the rade live in the ruins of Masquerade, and as far as I could see they were quite civilizised. I know for sure that Baron could talk... he saved my life but wanted to kill Io." Her eyes closed, it was easier to remember that way.
She shrugged, "Baron held Ice prizoner..." She turned to Kata, "Maybe you could add something?"
Nika sat, listening to Gee's story. There had to be more to it. He frowned, hearing the 'summarized' version of what he was sure was an excellent stoy wasn't exactly thrilling. Note to self, make Gee tell me that story in full detail.
