A handsome dragon sits at his desk. His name is Gabriel, and he has a very important job. It's a mission passed down to him by his father, who now is resting beneath the soil. And it's not an easy task, either. For he has to keep track of not only himself and his own duties, but also that of and incompetent moron, who just so happens to be his brother. They each share this mission, as two sides of the same coin. Even so, they are never seen side by side, and would rather not hear the other's name mentioned. It's a stubborn grudge of all that never seems to pass. But Gabriel, being the only one of the two who ever seems to take this task seriously, finds himself constantly buried in work. There are decisions to be made, none easier than the other, and a constant pressure against time, morals and the deepest questions of life. Knowing that this work was never truly meant to be his, nor his brother, or even their father, he struggles on. Day by day. Alone in his office, he spends each hour as focused as he can be.
But every once in a while, enough simply has to be enough. And on those days, the dragon who goes by the name of Gabriel walks out those doors, leaving his work for someone else. Just for a while. Just for a very lovely while. And this, fortunately for us, happens to be just such a day.
A ragged looking fox came into his office. Without knocking he enters, sweeping along the floor as silently he can. But he is noticed, against his inner wishes.
"Ah. 42. What now then? Do I even need to guess that he's in trouble?"
"S-s-s-sire, i-i-it's not so much h-h-him, b-b-but I need s-some help with the p-p-p-p-papers you sent l-l-last week and I-I-I t-told him to look at them and-and-and I-"
"I hear you. -sigh- How did he "lose" them this time, then?"
"..."
"I see. So he wouldn't even have the decency to lie about it. p***k... Look, I have the copy around here somewhere, if you just... No. Know what? No. If he wants those papers, he can get them himself. I'm off."
"B-b-b-b-b-but Lord! Y-you know he d-d-doesn't w-want them, I just-"
"Then you find them."
And so, our dragon leaves the poor raggedy fox with the piles of paperwork, as he heads off into the open. Air... How long hasn't it been since I truly breathed? Gabriel went for a walk, allowing his legs to go on without thought, taking him wherever they may. But made sure to keep a distance from the city. For surely, he would never walk more than two feet away from the concrete, now would he? The air was nice, the sun still shining bright between the trees as he walked along the little path through the woods. Yet free from regret.
