If you travel to the woods, you may see some magic. Not the sparkly type of magic you hear of in fairy tales, but the type that can only be seen if you open up your mind. Here, two boys grew up, believing in their heart that life was meant to be like in a story. And so, that's what it became.
Elvinrod stretched out on a branch, high up in an old oak. This tree stood deep within the forest, where many wild creatured roam. He laid there, watching from above for some breakfast. He hadn't eaten for days, but truth be told, he hadn't really noticed.
The Bunny was well hidden between the leaves, green as he was, and he quite enjoyed the feeling of being nearly invisible. Sometimes a big beast would walk by and not even knowing he was there. And sometimes he saw something small and fragile that he could leap at for an easy meal. But he didn't really feel like hunting. Not today. Maybe he could go searching for berries instead? Elvin carefully rolled on his back, listening for the sounds of the wilderness around him. It was a good morning.

Believing in fairy tales and reality, it was rather hard to tell one another apart when the other was always in the way of the other. Or that was what some like Ashla saw everyday. Flapping through the air with her delicate wings, she was glad to have inherited the honor of being kin to the Goddess of Unity, God of Nitemares, and Goddess of Dreams. It made the little tiger have a sense of morale, but also allowed her make her own choices - she was free.
Avoiding the ideas of possible dangers that lay in front of her no matter where she went, she traveled on, trying to reach a forest before the daylight broke. Her soft blue eyes were focused on the ground below, fur starting to feel the sun's warmth as it began to rise. She did not really enjoy the light, but always felt like it would be fun to break her feelings for the daytime.
As she flew next to the awakening birds, Ashla felt a sense of home, that was, until one decided to bump her off course... falling... and falling.. until she went from the clouds to the dirt that lay below, landing with a small, but rather distinct thud.

Laying there as he was, enjoying the bit of sunshine that went through the leaves, Elvin listened to the birds. They all sounded very pleased with the rising sun, as usual, which also pleased him. But suddenly, one of the birds sounded a little less pleased, dare I say annoyed, even. He had barely the time to open his eyes before he heard yet more noise, of the thudding kind.
The Bunny boy hopped up on his paws and reached between the leaves to see what was going on, but all he saw was yet a couple more birds escaping the scene, just at the outskirts of the forest. Could this be... An adventure? Joyfully, he climbed over to another branch, then hopped on to the tree next to his, getting him just slightly closer. Now, this was something he just had to investigate. After all, birds wouldn't let themselves turn so upset over any sort of trifling matter.
So Elvin slide down from the treetops, with at least a little bit of grace, and started sneaking towards the thud as fast as he could, without making more noise than needed.

Cursing the birds as she fell, Ashla did try to regain wind to have a successful counterflight, but her wing seemed not to have given way. When she collapsed to the ground though, her blue eyes were no longer soft and gentle, but rather confused, and hurt. Reality check: She has no idea where she was. The area was unknown to her so she did not have the slightest clue of who or what populated the area, but she did know that she would have to stay away from the birds around here.
As she flapped her wings to leave this place, pain rushed into her shoulders. Ashla would not be able to fly for the mean time. Knowing her, she mewed a bit, crying for help, but stopped when she remembered that anyone who showed up might be able to eat her for their breakfast meal. She shuddered at the thought and then the idea to explore the forest came up.
She gingerly circled the place she landed, remembering the site just in case if she wanted to collect any missing strands of fur, which would be unlikely. Growing old of circling, she scented something funny to the north of her, so that was where she headed, forgetting about getting eaten, but rather, just thinking about possibly having an adventure in the forest until her wings were healed.

Elvin kept sneaking, the proper Piccaninny style, crisscrossing between the trees. He moved fast, constantly paying attention to his surroundings. He couldn't risk stumbling into someone dangerous unprepared. No, if there was to be an attack, he was to make the first move. A proper ambush actually sounded like fun at that moment. But not if they're kind. Though, how will I know? Tricky...
It wasn't before long the trees became more scarce. He wouldn't dare go much further, as he would be far too easy to spot in the open. Luckily, he'd gone just far enough. Peeking his eyes out between the branches of a big bush, Elvin saw someone walk by. It looked like a girl, but... She had wings. But she didn't look like a fairy. Not at all. In fact, she reminded him of something. A bird? He had to cover his mouth with his paw in the sudden shock. It's a Wendy Bird! I'm sure of it! It has to be!
He tried very hard to remember what his friend had told him about the Wendy Bird, but he just wasn't sure. Strawberry knew the stories much better than he did, and he often got things mixed up and confused. Didn't they shoot the Wendy Bird? Are they dangerous? Or was that the one with the big nest? Or... a house? While waiting for it to come back to him, he decided to stalk the Wendy Bird, so that it wouldn't get away, just in case he was meant to shoot it. I wish he was here to see it... They're rare.

Her ears twitched slightly back, hearing a faint sound behind her. Something was around. Oh goodness! I'm too young to die! Quickening her pace a bit, she did wish her wings were ready to give flight, her heart beat like the sound of a drum. This is supposed to be an adventure she recalled. Not a freaky fear factor.
The fact that the sun was still up did not calm her down much, just made her wish it were night time already. That was when she would have felt much more at home. Up ahead, she saw a little swamp. Swamp. Water. Mud. Coolness. Protection. Those were the words that formed in her head.
Breaking into a sprint, Ashla eagerly went ahead, and once she rolled in the mud for a short matter of time, it felt like someone was watching her.. Uncomfortable, the tiger fluffed her fur out, learning from others that it was wise to look larger when threatened. She did not know if it would work around here, so she would have to be ready to fight if necessary. Her blue eyes scanned the scene, waiting for her challenger. There! - Something green was rustling behind her, approaching her! The only thing was... Ashla was not much of a fighter..

He kepts following her, but she suddenly picked up her pace. Going faster, faster, faster and even faster than that, even a true Piccaninna would've found it hard to sneak at such a speed. But this proved his theories, Elvin thought. If it has noticed me that easily, it really MUST be a bird.
But as she reached the mud and dived right into it, Elvin was a bit confused. Do Wendies normally do that? He couldn't remember, so obviously it had to be so. He did remember the Neverbird floating around in the water, so therefor this couldn't be one of those. No, it's a Wendy for sure. I'd recognise one anywhere. The fact is, though he'd never before seen a Wendy Bird, he felt quite like an expert on them. He wanted to believe he knew them so badly that he almost forgot that he didn't.
The Bunny was so fascinated by the scene, that he almost forgot to be hiding. Happily though, he finally remembered what happened to the Wendy Bird in Strawberries stories. They did shoot it... But it was the fairie's idea, wasn't it? Fairies are dumb... I don't think Strawberry would like it if I hurt it before he could see her. I better not lose track of her though, or he'll turn sour with me.

She stood her ground, waiting.. for anything to come to her. Mainly the green object of course. Well, now that she was open and vulnerable, she would have to be much more aware of her surroundings. Ashla's belly groaned a bit, but she ignored it. Where am I anyways? I hope someone comes and brings me back home soon! She shook her head. They wouldn't even be up by now. Come on Ashla. Think!
Think. She did actually. Flee back to the swamp. Backing up a bit, her paws entered the murkiness of the waters and felt a rush of coolness upon her tail. This was a good swamp indeed. Unfortunately, being a young energetic tiger, her attention span was not so large, so it led her to leave the aegis of the swamp and try and find breakfast.
Some roots would have done a great meal for her, but she wanted something else. The birds that knocked her over. That would not be possible with a broken wing, but she was determined to catch one of those 'beasts'. In the mean time, Ashla's loneliness was bugging her. She knew someone was near, whether friend or foe, and she could no longer stand the idea of being watched. "Umm.. hello?" she mewed. "I know that you're out there ... somewhere."

The Wendy spoke! And she knew he was out there, watching her. That's a Wendy alright, very clever. They always are. He thought to himself, though he still hadn't a clue. It just seemed much better to know than not to know, so he pretended that he did know.
But now he was left with two options. A choice had to be made. Either he went out of the bushes and introduced himself, like a proper English Gentleman should (he wasn't actually English, but he thought those words were always meant to go together), or he shot at her with his arrow, just like Tootles did. Tootles was a brave warrior. But he regret shooting the Wendy Bird, didn't he? For it was the Fairy's idea. Blasted faries... Peter didn't like it, nor would Strawberry. I must treat the Wendy well, like an English Gentleman.
So Elvin stepped out of the bushes, went down on his knees and bowed to her. "I'm most sorry, pretty Wendy Bird, I almost listened to the Fairy. Please forgive me. I am Elvinrod of the Piccaninnies, and I would like to build you a house." Not a single part of that sentence seemed even the slightest bit odd to him. Surely, she would understand just what he meant. After all, she was a clever Wendy, and the offering of a house ought to suit her fancy very well.
