Today, the fire in her had taken over. Call it hormones, call it Fear puberty, call it whatever, but Piper felt like she was on her game today. She was actually getting homework done, her room was pretty clean by her standards, and what normally caused her problems (namely, unruly minipets) were easily pushed aside under the might of her newly adopted don't care attitude. For the day at least, the mage felt on top of the world.
Well, until she tried to practice particular branches of magic that had been giving her grief. Then the other side of that fiery nature came out.
"गाली का शब्द!"
The training dummy gained an unsightly splotch of fire instead of the lightning she had been trying to manifest. Piper's anger was realized so fully in that moment that her already large hair seemed to swell and stick out, much like a cat puffed out when startled or mad. She glared at the training dummy's dumb dumb face like it was its fault she couldn't do lightning right.
"पैरवी करना," she grumbled hotly, making fists as she concentrated to try and bring that energy back into a more concentrated form. It didn't help her focus that there was a trail of smoke and the smell of burnt fabric coming from her target.

If there was one thing that Eldrid knew very well, it was the smell of fire - the before, during and after. It was his whole lifestyle, on top of the fact that he, himself, was basically a house of lava.
So when he caught the smell of singing fabric on the air, he was immediately attracted to it, eyebrows raised lazily as he watched over the little reaper, deciding that this show was much more interesting than homework or other boring things. Leaning against the tree a bit, lightly placing his hands in his pant pockets and kept glowing eyes on her, tail swishing side to side.
It wasn't until he was done with watching her struggle that he piped up, his voice softly breaking the silence that came between bursts of flame. "You're doing it all wrong. Fire is not a force to argue with." He murmured, lowering an eyebrow a little, giving her a look.

Piper wasn't able to notice the fact that she was being watched during her brief but strong outburst, but she was capable of raging harder. The flames caught in her fists, palm-sized and giving a dim glow, were flung at the dummy's head--and clipped its shoulders instead. She was going to growl with frustration, but being addressed made her turn that noise into an indignant, "Oh, what do you know about--"
And then the mage actually turned to see who was addressing her and faltered. Judging from the glow from the guy's tail and the subtle rise in temperature, he actually did know what he was talking about. For some reason, that just bothered her more. "Look, guy, I'm not trying to deal with fire. I got fire down just fine," Piper said curtly instead, shaking her fingers of soot. "That's not what I'm concerned about. Lightning is what I'm trying to focus on, okay? That's actually hard stuff, I don't know if you know that."
Or so she justified to herself.
". . . Wait, how long have you been watching me?"
