The theme for this week is protection. As always find and source your spell from published materials in a book or magazine.

Vox_Draconis This is going to be easier than the last one I think Possibly. There are a lot more spells out there for protection than there are for success. It'll also be easier for me to think this week as the heatwave has ended. It's supposed to be a mild week this coming week. I don't think its supposed to get above 85 this coming week.

This is true, and I think I can safely say I am not looking at the faery book this time. The heatwave is still going on over here, due to hit 35C.... I start melting at 25C it's 33C at the moment

When I read that spell I saw like 3 or four different spells worked into one spell. I admit I've done that before when I was starting trying to get as much power and as many influences in as I could but in the end it actually drove me away from spellcrafting for a while. Vox_Draconis The heatwave is still going on over here, due to hit 35C.... I start melting at 25C it's 33C at the moment Yeah thats hot. It was like that here last week. Not so much this week. This week its expected to get to I think high 70's mid 80's. I think that would be mid teens in your area (length, volume, and weight I can translate much easier than I can temperatures).

Yea I'm inclined to agree, most of the spells in that book are long. I can see why, spells like that put me off, I like them short and simple. I admit I don't know the conversion between Centigrade/Celsius and Fahrenheit but I can convert Centrigrade/Celsius to Kelvin. Mid teens would be nice, I like weather like that.

Like I said I started with long and complex spells and now I dont see them as needing to be so long and complex. Most of the protection spells I have found are incredibly simple. Several of the folk spells I found were simply place an herb in the shoe or under the crib. Its why it took me a few days to actually come up with a spell that I wanted to work with for this project. Vox_Draconis I admit I don't know the conversion between Centigrade/Celsius and Fahrenheit but I can convert Centrigrade/Celsius to Kelvin. Mid teens would be nice, I like weather like that. Yeah. I could look it up and be all nerdy suffice to say its nice and comfortable here.

So in order to do these rewrites I am going back through some of my classes and my notes on colors and numbers. So here we go.
Friendship bracelet braid
Materials:
One 2 foot length of each of the following flosses (the kind you find in the sewing/embroidery isles for friendship bracelets) Red, Yellow, Green, Violet, White, Black, and Gray
A small piece of tape to tape the floss to the table while making the bracelet
Spell:
Tie a knot at the top of the bracelet and state: "BY these colors and by my love you are protected"
Proceed to weave the floss one color strand after the other over the others in the shape of a 4.
After every color has been done once tie another knot visualizing a shield for protection
Repeat the above process 7 times
Tie the bracelet together and give it to your friend

I don't get my spells from books. It lacks that personal touch I adore. smile
Either, I get them channeled to me or I write them myself.
Protection, hm...
"In the dome, no harm roams. In the home, my will grown. Never more, allies known."
That one's alright. It's off the top of my head. I usually just focus intent and skip the spell. But, words are great for focusing; sometimes.
As for tool. Well, cord magic or some stones to anchor your will work pretty good. Simple, practical, and personal for me. smile

Sadobitch I don't get my spells from books. It lacks that personal touch I adore. smile For years I avoided using or even owning a spell book of any type. However recently after the first work through of this project I realized that they could be very useful tools. Through this project I have learned how to write different types of spells and how different spell techniques work. Thats really the goal of this project. To take a spell written by someone else and then rework it in a manner that you would actually use. Sadobitch Either, I get them channeled to me or I write them myself. I only recently started to write my own spells. It was by rewriting other spells that I started to find what was my own spell flavors. I like using color and I like using materials you can find at hand almost any where.. That is the theme of this week. Last week we did success. Next weeks theme is going to be a bit different if we do one at all. I haven't decided yet. Sadobitch "In the dome, no harm roams. In the home, my will grown. Never more, allies known." That one's alright. It's off the top of my head. I usually just focus intent and skip the spell. But, words are great for focusing; sometimes. Spells don't need to be verbal. In fact the source spell I am using for my rewrites did not include a verbal component at all. It was all visualization and intent. Sadobitch As for tool. Well, cord magic or some stones to anchor your will work pretty good. Simple, practical, and personal for me. smile Can you think of any tools or actions you would do with the chant you mentioned?

Not really. I really don't use verbal components very much anymore. If I do, it's probably to specify and focus intent because someone has something coming their way. As for various tools, honestly it just depends on what seems right at the moment.

So what sort of visualizations would you use for protection with the chant you mentioned or for protection in general?
