Sleep had come naturally, quickly, to Sparrow after the events of the nights before. Her pack, filled with supplies from before and the jewelry pocketed from the last campsite at her talons, the beaded feather still interwoven into her hair. It was satisfying and particularly needed after the drunken stupor of the previous night and her failure to nap during the day. Not that this was necessarily a bad thing, as she was able to spend time with her new friend, just that she hadn't been able to rest properly.

Morning came even more softly, awakened by a soft breeze against her skin. It was pleasant, quiet. Very quiet. Too quiet, if the morning before was a proper comparison. Sitting up in her tent, she stretched her arms and wings before looking to the material of her tent. Had she really been so tired to sleep through the morning and be left behind? Or had she awoken before the others, even the solimir?

There was light seeping through the fabric, though... Certainly it wasn't too early in the morning.

As she went to the entrance, she couldn't help but notice what appeared to be little speckles of white near the opening, as well as little puddles of water. What was that? It was something unlike anything she had ever seen.

Peaking her head outside of the tent, her eyes widened at the vast expanse of white all around her. While not icy as others might have felt the frostbitten wind, it was much colder that anything she had experienced. Just where had everyone gone? Searching through the flurries that drifted around, she could see one other tend nearby: perhaps someone else left behind by the crowd? There were also snow rabbits, foxes, and other small, mountainous mammals running in the snow, along with tracks that appeared to be from larger game animals.

Making quick work of grabbing her things and repacking her tent, she went to go check on the other and see if it was occupied.

They have food in the form of nearby small mammals, which Sparrow can hunt fairly easily and efficiently, and possible larger mammals, which may require help to hunt but will provide more meat.

Wild Moon couldn't remember what had happened last, it all seemed like such a blur. He was having a great time with Sweetie Belle and the other teen....whose name he hadn't had the change to learn yet. And as swift as the day came, it soon was over and he found himself crawling into his tent, arranging things in perfect order before drifting off into a sleep he had never slept before. It felt... amazing.

As he yawned and stretched, his eyes slowly fluttered open, blinking to the light of the new day. Except it was different somehow... and the air smelt.... crisp? New? Definitely not how it had smelled before. His canine senses were working over time to figure out the new scent as he got himself to his hooves and pulled back the flap of his tent to gaze outside.

"What in the night!" he gasped softly to himself, running a hand through his hair. There was snow all around and he had a funny feeling he wasn't in the campsite anymore. Was this some sort of trick? Popping back into his tent, he counted to three and then peered back out. Nope. Still snow. "Oh Mother is going to kill me..." he groaned, grabbing his pack and taking a tentative step out. It would seem as if someone else was coming his way also. He waved an awkward hand and called out to her. "What....what happened here?"

Sparrow had to refrain from rolling her eyes; of all the people she could have been stuck with, why did she get one of the guys that did not look prepared for this type of situation? Not that was either, personally, but still, more so. As she got closer, she simply shrugged, glancing around before shrugging again. "No idea. If this is some kind of prank, though, I think they're trying too hard."

There was this feeling, however, deep down, that this was no prank.

"Hey, aren't you cold?" she asked before noting that, while uncomfortable, the winds and snow didn't seem to affect her much. Weird. Maybe it was something to do with her being some unknown creature. "Oh, what was your name again? I don't think we've really talked," she smiled before continuing, holding her hand out to shake his, "I'm Sparrow."

Well she seemed...... friendly?

Rubbing his shoulders, he peered around again as she mentioned a prank, looking at the bits of debris littered about in the cold white snow. His ears twitched at the mess, his need for order being forcefully shoved to the back of his mind. "If its a prank, I think they got me." he admitted, a bit loudly, just encase there were any of the hairy fairies floating around to hear. Hopefully they'd catch the hint and quit with this foolishness.

But when that didn't happen as quickly as he'd like, he groaned, a sudden and very dangerous realization hitting him. Oh Mother was really going ot kill him.... if he didn't die out here first.

Glancing down at her hand as she extended it, he took it meekly and shook it. "Pleasure to meet you Sparrow... I'm Wild Moon." he replied, watching his breath form in clouds before him. "And... yeah... I'm a little bit cold." he said before taking his hand back and rubbing his shoulders again. It seemed a funny time for introductions, but what much else could the two teens do? He sure hoped the others were ok. "I don't see anyone else around.... where have they all gone?"

"Nice to meet you too." Well, at least he was polite; better than nothing! If she had to be stuck with someone not prepared, better someone nice than a jerk. Anyways, maybe he'd be able to prove himself useful later on.

That, or perhaps she was simply glad that she wasn't alone. Sparrow felt, recently, that she was always alone. Her mother's interests were elsewhere, her father had left, her best friend was gone. Even now, it was as if, once again, she was abandoned, calling forth that fear in the most primal of terms. Were these guardians mocking her at this point? Was this her punishment for leaving, even if she was no longer wanted?

Hadn't she been punished enough when everyone left her first?

Or, perhaps her leaving was simply an attempt at running from her punishment for her selfishness, and by doing so she was defying it?

Reaching into her pack, Sparrow held out her blanket for him; it wasn't as if she felt she really needed it anyways, and this way there could be room for her to stow her tent inside instead. "Here ya go then. No point in you getting sick or something, yeah?" she quickly added before he could refuse, "I'm used to this kind of thing, so I should be fine." Okay, so it was a lie. Not even a white lie, just a classic, big 'ol fat one, but whatever. There wasn't any fear in her of this foreign cold.

Looking to either side of her as she pulled her back closer to her front side, rearranging it to better close shut, she sighed. "No idea... But we can't stay here forever," she continued without a beat as she returned it to her back, "I'm planning on heading that way," there was a point in an arbitrary direction, towards where she had seen some game, "I figure you should probably come too if you don't want to freeze to death."

Even though she said this lightly, meant as a joke, there was almost an icy threat in it, daring him to try and last without her.

Wild Moon glanced at her face while she seemed lost in thought, the look in her eyes most confusing to him. He couldn't quite place his finger on it.

His attention was distracted however when she handed him a blanket. He would have thought it better she take it, she being a lady after all, and he a gentlemen willing to make sacrifices. But apparently she was used to the cold and rather insisted, so he took it in an effort not to be rude. In truth, he probably could have just shifted, the fur in his feral form would have kept him warm, at least for a while. But he was glad to have someone who at least was thoughtful. "Thank you Miss Sparrow." he said with a soft bow and wrapped the blanket around his shoulders. "If you ever need it back, please don't hesitate to ask." he nodded.

He glanced to where she pointed, the faint scent of prey crossing his nose. He still couldn't quite locate anything through the smell of the snow. If only his senses were as strong as his fathers out of feral form. Alas, he seemed to take more after his mothers side in that department. At least... if she got injured, he could hopefully heal her... or try... providing there was a place he could concentrate to try to channel energy from the moon... if they were still out here by then. Or if he even could. He hadn't much practice yet and this made him worry slightly, no telling what dangers they could face this high up.

"Sounds like a good idea to me. It's a start at least. Perhaps we will find someone else along the way." he said with a soft smile despite the situation they were in. He paid no mind to the unspoken challenge, having already had it in his mind to get out of here as fast as possible. What he wouldn't give to be back with his Mom and Pa in the tree right now.

Shrugging, she brushed off the idea. "If it gets too heavy for you, I can stick it back on the pack. No big deal." There wasn't much room left in it, her tent not taking up a significant proportion of room.

As Sparrow started walking, not really giving Moon time to think or prepare, she paused only to look back. "Don't bother bringing your tent; one's probably enough, and if we find anything useful we'll need the extra space in your pack." Surely he wasn't afraid of 'cooties' or any of those silly things. It was a possibly dire situation, and, if nothing else, two people in a tent was warmer than one. Not that she really was giving the choice regardless to pack it up, since immediately after speaking she returned to walking.

That was a nice thought, though... Maybe they could find someone else... If they were lucky, they'd find those animals; man was she hungry! Yesterday's dinner seemed like such a far-away thing, and, comparatively, there was far less for her to eat, especially after missing lunch. Why, right now, she felt like she could eat a whole caribou by herself.

Her stomach roared to this, echoing her thoughts.

"Oh... my tent.... I hadn't even thought..." he admitted softly to himself as she kept on walking, following behind her. He wasn't yet really thinking they'd be stuck here long enough to actually need some sort of shelter, but now that he thought it over, it wasn't a bad idea.

He glanced down at his pack, shifting it over his shoulders more comfortably then adjusted the blanket over him and it, tugging the corners and clutching them at his chest, like some sort of cape. It felt nice, if not a temporary relief and he'd have to find a way to thank her properly later. For now, he was beginning to realize he was a bit hungry himself and he was almost certain he had nothing edible in his pack.

His eyes narrowed and his ears twitched as he tried his best to narrow the scent of pray and separate it from the scent of snow, which he was now beginning to get used too the more they trudged on. "I think.. there may be something a little farther that way." he said, pointing just slightly to the right but still straight ahead of them. "I hope anyways... my senses aren't as strong as my dads out of shift..." he said sheepishly.

"Man, I hope so! I am starving!" she called back to him as she lifted an arm up to shake angrily at the sky. "If they were going to ditch us, they might as well have given us a decent meal the night before first. Hmph!" Sparrow's face was set in a stone scowl as she walked forward, irritated just as much by the hunger as by the difficulty walking in this snow.

Glancing back, she decided to make some conversation. "So, out of shift...? Does that mean you can hunt?" It would make things easier on her to have a buddy to catch some prey, after all. "Any preferences? Y'know, rabbit, fox, deer...?" she was just listing off possible game animals they might find or that she had seen glimpses of.

Wild Moon laughed at her enthusiasm despite all the odds. She had a point though. If it was the hairy fairies idea to strand them, they could have left them with something to eat. Unless of course.... it wasn't their intention, then he had to wonder... Whose was it?

Tilting his head, he scratched gently behind his ear as a sort of nervous tick. "Mmmm I suppose you could say that.... I haven't really hunted before in wolf form but my senses are a lot stronger. I could pin point something to eat anyways." he paused and then really thought about it. What would he eat? He hadn't really... eaten rabbit before.. or fox.. Just cookies from his Aunt and whatever his Mom and Pa cooked... which was usually berries.. or flower sandwiches. "I guess... whatever we can catch first. I don't think we have the liberty of being picky in our current situation...." he added.

He could turn into a wolf...? How neat was that! "Are you serious? A wolf? You?" there was no hint of sarcasm in her tone, only one of disbelief. Huh... Who would have guessed? He wouldn't be so useless of a partner after all. Continuing ahead, she continued speaking, "I really like rabbit; my friend Aella and I used to hunt them a lot back home. They're a bit easier to catch than things like foxes, but birds and snakes are the easiest of them all." Not that they were going to find snakes here.

Catching movement in the distance, she grinned and slowed her pace to go as quietly as she could. In a hushed tone, she commented, "It looks like there's a deer out there. I should be able to do it in by muself, but..." looking to him, her grin twisted into more of a smirk, "...then you'd be left out in the hunt, and there's no fun in that. Gotta earn your meal! How about it?"

He nodded his head, quite seriously. "Well Maned wolf.... technically but... " he paused. It didn't seem that hard for him to believe, though his dad could do it and his sisters could too. And Moonlight even found herself a friend who could shift as well.... that left only his poor Mother but she didn't seem to mind. She was quite relieved actually... To her it seemed about as strange as her no longer being able to raise the moon.

He was about to say something else when she slowed down and a stronger scent of deer rushed over him. Curious, deer.. up here, this far on the mountain? They had to be some really thick coated deer he thought...

"Earn.. my meal?" he tilted his head, whispering. He never had to fight or earn any kind of food in his home. This was a strange question to him, but he supposed not everyone had the same traditions and ways. "I... guess count me in?" he asked curiously, scratching the back of his head behind one droopy ear.

He set his things down neatly, folding up the blanket and setting it atop the pack, first realizing just how much more of a bite the cold had now that he had removed his make shift cape. He wasted no time in allowing himself to shift into his maned wolf form, his long lanky legs positioned rather daintily, the wind ruffling faux mane as he tilted his head to look at her.

He could really smell the deer now and his stomach rumbled a bit more loudly. He was now beginning to understand a little bit about why she had asked him this earlier....

"Mained wolf... huh..." Sparrow's expression went from skepticism to complete astonishment, mouth agape and all, in a matter of seconds as she saw Wild Moon transform. So the guy really could quite literally turn into a freaking wolf...?

HOW AWESOME WAS THAT?

Why didn't she have any cool powers like that? Of course, she was strong and all, but that didn't mean she could change what she was into something else entirely, or breath underwater, or clean cuts (like her mom). Guess she was just so inherently amazing that it would be over-powered to give her anything more.

Back to the main topic: food. Figuring he would be better at tracking in this state with his nose than she could with her eyes, she motioned in their direction. "I can see them over here. I can head straight on from above and you can flank from the side? If I can hook my claws into them, it's basically over." If she could do that, her strength was enough to force them down, and from there either one of them could end it. She paused long enough to set her stuff besides his before taking flight towards their hunt.

Fea Line

Wild Moon simply nodded. He was unable to speak in this form, but he could understand her well enough. He would have barked to show he understood as well but was afraid to scare off the deer. Instead, he watched her take to the sky and hunkered himself low to the ground as he crept.

He stalked through the snow, creeping along slowly. He had never hunted this way before but for some reason the instincts just seemed to flood over him and he felt as if he had done this many times before. He could only hope his actions matched his feelings.

His eyes shot towards the sky to find the flying form of Sparrow as he moved into a position to spring from the side. If she struck first, the panic was likely enough for him to form the perfect ambush from the side, leaving at least one of them with little room to flee...

... or so he hoped.

He seemed to be a natural at this, as far as Sparrow could tell by his methodical, stealthy movements. It was a precise operation; failure would not be an option, less they were ready and willing to remain hungry.

She, for one, was not.

Eyes narrowing, she waiting until he paused, close enough to strike, yet far enough to not grab their attention. Good... Folding her wings closer to her body, she dive-bombed forward to latch onto the neck of the poor creature with her claw's talons, the sharp surface easily piercing into the flesh as she turned to the side, hoping to help it fall.

The momentum and the shock should help Wild Moon in finishing the kill, and then they could dine. Oh, how she could already anticipate the warm and delicious feeling of fresh meat in her stomach!
