So I just got married (yay!) and i was suprised by something my husband said: He said you don't have to pay tithing on the money you receive at your reception, since you dont pay tithing on gift certificates or the gifts themselves: the cash is a form of gift that's already been paid tithing on. This suprised me because any time i'm given money, I pay tithing on it.

I went to my new bishop with the matter, and he says the counsel was split down the middle on the matter (their weekly meetings they go to). He also said there was absolutely nothing in the manual about it, and that it was a gray area that wasnt really clear- so up to each person.

What is your opinion on tithing??
