Otto watched with a distant stare. Cami was learning to use his skateboard, and it was a disaster. Newbies always took so long to catch on. Not that could blame them. He'd fallen a thousand times before he learned a single trick. Still, the boy tended to be a little impatient. He gave a heavy sigh as she fell again, running a hand over his face.

Cami had seen Otto dragging his skateboard out a few times and had gotten the not-so-bright idea that he should teach her how it works. She could roller skate because, who couldn't roller skate, and somehow figured that the idea would translate well. Oh how wrong she was. Now her butt was aching from hitting it on the asphalt so many times and she was fairly certain that, were it not for Kidana, she'd be more than just bruised. Sitting on the ground, watching the board roll by for the billionth time, she let out a frustrated sound. "OTTO!" She looked back at him, sulking. "What am I doing wrong?"

He could almost laugh. He didn't, but almost. "Uuuuuuh where to start?" He teased, looking at her with a contemplative expression. "You're probably leaning your weight in all the wrong places..." He'd watched her fall so often. Yet he couldn't place where she was going wrong. "You gotta time it right too. And anticipate better..." He pursed his lips, "Um... wanna see me do it again?"

Sticking her tongue out at his obvious tease she touched a hand to the arrow pendant at her neck. "You better be nice to me, Otto, or I'll end up using you for moving target practice!" Which, actually, sounded like a really fun idea. Quietly she mused how hard it would be to strap a dummy to something like a skateboard and send it rolling. Or maybe Otto would volunteer? That'd be amazing. Distracted by that thought she missed his question and instead has a suggestion of her own. "Why don't you help hold me up so I can sorta roll back and forth? Then you can sorta feel where I'm putting my weight?" Anyone else she would be using this moment to flirt and get up close and personal. For this she genuinely wanted to learn. At this point, though, she could at least appreciate he had skill.

"I dunno. I'm pretty fast. Might be outta your league." He replied cheekily. Otto sighed, rolling his eyes. "I really doubt that'd help." But he got up anyway, just to humour her. "Leaning on me won't show you how to do it.." He grumbled, although he already had her hand. "Lean your weight this way when you're glidin'. Push off with your foot to start or gain speed. It's all about balance. Your foot should be further back." He continued to nag, trying to work out her kinks as he saw them.

Was that a challenge? "Are you challenging me?!" Light lit up her eyes at the idea but she wasn't going to do it out here. They were away from the shield that would keep him from serious harm and like hell she was going to try her luck with someone so important. Maybe she could get Rep to do it. Cami was used to having been nagged at and badgered so to have Otto grumbling at her was nothing upsetting. She shifted slightly in the way he indicated feeling the board slide forward. She pushed her foot towards the back as if she'd somehow break or gain momentum and felt herself start to fall. Otto held her in place, thankfully, as she huffed. "Okay, let go. I got it this time." She made it fifteen feet before falling.

Otto gave a brief smirk to her delight. "Only if you feel challenged." Otto let her go. She actually did quite well on her own. "You're gettin' there." Otto called out, "Try again. Unless you need a break."

Gathering herself up, scampering after the skateboard, she shook her head. "Nah, my a** is only black at the moment. I wanted it to be black and blue." Looking back at herself for a moment she sighed. "Maybe I should take up roller skating again or something, speaking of my a**. Do you think it needs help?" She turned for a moment so that Otto could see the part of her body in question before staring to stand on the board again. Carefully, without pushing off much, she leaned her weight into it again. Slowly, steadily, she gained momentum. Arms tried to stay down at her sides as she simply used her hips and the weight of her feet to move, which was more easily said than done. Three more times she started and fell but was at least making progress before flopping down on her stomach next to Otto. "I have no idea why I thought that looked easy when you did it. Probably because you're way good at this. It's unfair. I object." Her grin was wide. It was frustrating but she still had been having fun. "I think I won't be able to sit normally for awhile though."

"Do I think what needs help, your butt?" He tilted his head as she seemed to show off her impressive rear. Was she asking for a rating or medical attention? Otto sat and watched, growing weary of her attempts, or perhaps the heat of the sun. He day dreamed mostly, forgetting he was supposed to be coaching her. His head tilted down when she laid down beside him, patting at her head. "I've had more practice." He reminded her. "Guess you'll have to belly flop anytime you wanna rest now." "It's hot. I'm tired." He whined like a brat. "You done pretendin' to board yet?" So much sass.

Eyes rolled at his whining, reaching up to hold a hand over his face. "Use some of that pile of money you're sitting on to invest in a UV umbrella, you delicate blond flower. How long have you been on the island and you're still not used to the heat and sun?" Cami had grown up in a place not far from here, geographically speaking, and she soaked up the sun in a way only a native could. Sunburns were almost foreign to her due to her blessed heritage. The hotter the better. "But yes, I was asking if my butt needed work. If it's attractive." She asked this rather frankly and clinically as if he were some sort of PhD in posterior attractiveness. Watching him wilt in the sun she sighed, dramatically, as if this were a major issue. "We can go home if you want. I might go swimming or something. Lots and lots of energy."

"I grew up in Louisiana. It got pretty hot there too." He grumbled back with a huff. Likely Cami grew up somewhere slightly more tropical. Somehow, he just didn't care for heat. He hated cold too, though. maybe he was just finicky. He rather liked wearing layers, and the island sun didn't allow for it. "Of course it's attractive." He scoffed as if she was being silly. "Why would you ask that?" He shrugged, "We don't gotta go if you're havin' fun. The trainee pool is kinda sucky, though. I prefer the Full Hunter one." Which Cami couldn't get to. Shame. Maebe only got there because she likely shmoosed her way in. "Whateeeeever you wanna do."

Blinking at him a bit she laughed. "Why wouldn't I ask it? I mean I haven't gotten a whole lotta interest so far since coming to the island but I guess I should be patient." Her deep sigh indicated just how she felt about that idea, perking slightly at the mention of a pool. "Wait we have a pool? I thought the only place to swim was the beach..." With the tentacle monsters that were more than happy to drag her down, beat her up a bit, and toss her back up onto the shore. Needless to say 'swimming' was an adventure she didn't much bother with. Nudging a shoulder into Otto's side she batted her lashes up at him. "I bet you could get a buddy in to the pool for the big kid hunters. Your best buddy." Her. Obviously.

Otto gave her a knowing look. "I could." He left it at that just in case she felt like whining. He wanted to hear whining. "Say pretty please."

Sitting up onto her knees, wincing slightly as her heel jabbed right into a particularly tender spot on her backside, Cami wrapped arms around Otto in a big hug. "Pleeeeeeeeeeease? I really need to get in good shape so I can be a good Sun nakama or whatever the heck." As big as she could make her cornflower eyes they were, a smile hinting around her lips, irrepressible as always. To bring the point home she begged again in Spanish, then once more in her natural Creole, before going back to English. "You'd mark yourself down, cemented, forever, as the best most helpful ridiculous awesome person in the history of history. And I know. I'm a history student!" She scrunched up her nose. "Was. Anyway! C'mon Ottoooooo~"

"Oooookay fine." He grumbled as if it was a huge inconvenience. It wasn't. Otto stood up. "Let's go back to the room." He may as well cool off by swimming. Awkwardly swimming, since his style was about as graceful as a dog or a wounded frog while swimming. Definitely not his greater skill.
