That. Was a big chicken. Johan raised Tempest above his head and gave a battle cry. The chicken returned the challenge with a battle cluck.
It was a lot more intimidating than you'd think. Johan flinched in his attack, and was sent bowling by one colossal wing.

This damned chicken was too big! The only think Johan could reach were its armored scaly feet. He needed a better vantage point. As the monster leaned down to peck at him, Johan thrust Tempest at its beak with two hands, hoping to sink the glaive into something vulnerable, and perhaps climb aboard.
It worked! Tempest cut deep, and the chicken reared back. Johan managed to hang onto Tempest, and was carried up into the air. Grabbing a fistful of the massive feathers, he yanked Tempest out of the monster, and climbed to the top of the chickens head. It seemed all his practice in falling off cliffs was actually coming in handy! On the other hand, he was about 100 feet in the air.

The Chicken Queen didn't take too kindly to someone climbing about on her. Johan had quite a time being flung this way and that. He persevered, and kept his grip, but took a bit of a beating in the process. When the chicken was still, he took the opportunity to rain a series of attacks upon its head to great effect.

Seeing her ally's aerial battle, Kari did her best to mimic the display down below. While it wasn't as impressive as his attacks, it definitely had the effect if shattering the beast's crest.

His next attack was as weak as the previous one was powerful. Maintaining a grip and trying to lash out at the Chicken was proving difficult. He still managed to graze it slightly, earning another session of being whipped about and battered against the Chicken's head.
