By the Great Zapfish, it's finally here!
Japan just had their very first Splatfest, and the US Splatfest is happening the weekend of 20th/21st June from 6pm PT to 6am PT.
The weekend of 27th/28th June will be the European Splatfest.

For those wondering what on earth is a Splatfest?
It's a Splat Festival; basically a glorified Turf War that happens at night, with players choosing a side in the hopes of leading that side to victory.
All the maps are at night, which makes the ink pop more than usual, and even Inkopolis is lit up with neon signs, and trucks projecting images on their trailers as the Squid Sisters give a concert from on top of them.
It's absolutely gorgeous.

It's not just the times that are different per region, but also the topics.
In Japan, it looks like their first Splatfest was Bread vs Rice.
In the US, your Splatfest will be Cats vs Dogs.
And in Europe, ours will be Rock vs Pop.

It's an interesting thing because the idea of the Splatfests not being worldwide like the rest of the game really makes you wonder just why this is. Was Bread vs Rice TOO Japanese for the rest of the world? Or was this just to keep things regional for the first go around and the next lot will be worldwide?
