Let me tell you a story. This tale is for you to decide of what to believe. And what to call fantasy. It has been passed down in our families for generations. Now listen and hear the words of lives long passed.
"In the beginning darkness was cast across the lands from wars waged ages ago. Within this seemingly eternal night, a spark of hope came crashing in. Zapdos, injured and afraid crashed into the great forests of Astromina. With him light began to return. What began as a trickle soon became a flood of pokemon flocking back to the forests. The first of which were electric types whom were drawn by Zapdos' power. Where he had fallen the earth became super charged and imbued with electrical power unseen anywhere else in the world. The water cleared inviting new inhabitants to live once again. The land began to green and all types came to live in peace and flourish. Following them came... man. With coming of all these creatures Zapdos had seemingly vanished.
As it happens time ticked by advancing into the future. Hand in hand with their pokemon companions civilization sprung to life. Peace between all inhabitants came like second nature. Curious of the world around them exploration parties were sent out to discover new homes for them. All appeared good and right in the world. But this was not to be.
The greed of man followed good as a poisoned apple thrown to a starving child. With their companions at their side the people turned one on another. War once more swept through the world destroying the tranquil paradise that had been created. Darkness threatened to plunge life into turmoil. Yet unknown to all ture horror had yet to befall them.

A young child trying to flee the carnage of this now war torn land with the help of two Growlithe pups sought shelter in a high mountain cave. Weakened and near death the girl heard something deep within the cave stir. The pups stood ready to defend her as the shadows began to move. At first a dim glow could be seen. Then a crack of lightning. The very air they breathed became charge as Zapdos emerged to confront these intruders.
Looking down upon them he could see how easy a task it would be to dispose of all three of them. They shook with fear. One pup urinated it was so struck with fear and awe. Drawing closer his eyes fell upon the human girl and stopped in his tracks in confusion. Head tilting to the side, all his own fear of them, anger, and apprehension fell away. There she lay barely able to hold herself up and looked upon him with a sincere heart and pure smile.Tears began to fall from her tired eyes and her tiny voice pierced his icy soul. This day would remain with him forever. Her life had changed his.
"Don't be afraid. I just want to be friends..."
Despite the efforts of the three pokemon the little girl died. After only a few short days in his life hers had been cut short due to the follies of mankind. Stricken with grief and despair the great bird wailed its sorrow in the heavens for all to witness. For a time all stood still as the skies crashed together causing the warring below to cease and watch in wonder. A single image loomed over head threatening to destroy everything in it's wake.
All light vanished once more beneath the storming heavens that raged above.Entire civilizations were leveled in his wake. The two Growlithe pups raced down the mountainside to their old home, the last remnant that remained. Standing between Zapdos and the people who had survived his onslaught they made their stand. This is not what the girl would have wanted.
With a broken heart Zapdos landed among the rubble of the once great city screeching it's defiance and pain. Carried with painstakingly care upon the backs of mountain pokemon the child that had left him so empty inside was brought forth, silencing his cries to be replaced by mournful silence. A woman broke free from the crowds sobbing, crying out her daughters name in anguish. Seeing the same pain he felt reflected in this woman they cried together. Not one present there could deny the heartache felt and seen on all their faces. Both man and pokemon stood together and wept as understanding dawned on them.
"You... you did this... for her?"
No words did he utter, but all knew the truth of Zapdos' pain. From that day on man and pokemon rebuilt together. Time, as it always does, continued to pass on. People turned to memories. Events to legend. Under his ever watchful gaze, we continue to strive for a better future. To never lose sight of our past. To remember those whom we love. And to never forget." Or so it is said.
