Unleash your secret or not-so-secret inner nerd.
Drama aside, while the crew and I decide whether or not to create a new anime/manga/fandom-type forum, here's a place to discuss that sort of thing. Which anime series are you into? What sorts of manga do you read? Any favorite pairings or characters? Do you need some suggestions on what to read? Are you into writing or reading fan fiction?
The closest that I've ever gotten to anime is Avatar: the Last Airbender and Code Lyoko and both of those were a long time ago. (Plus, I'm honestly not sure that either counts.) Unless my shameful infatuation with the Winx Club counts. In which case, yes! I'm not a complete failure as a self-proclaimed nerd. Or geek, weirdo, etc.-- I'm not particular about titles.

I like the 4kids version best-- the girls are fierce there. RAI English and the Nick version, eh. They're kind of wishy-washy and all of them are pop-star philanthropic princesses who have issues trusting their boyfriends of 5+ seasons and it's just like... really? But it's stupidly addicting and I'm waiting to see if there will or will not be a next season. emotion_facepalm

:O I loved winx club! I was secretly in love with fashion but in a strict Asian family so I'd watch these fantasy shows just to admire their outfits

Oh shoot, I'm kind of feeling like an otaku compared to you guys haha, but truth be told I'm no longer part of fandoms, not to mention I've never gone to cons or cosplayed sweatdrop I'm a fan of sports animes/mangas, and looking back it seems like I've always been...rn I'm into Haikyuu!! (HQ!! for short) and starting with All Out! bc the chapters are being translated so slowly! Kuroko no Basket (KnB) ended a while ago, but I really hope the manga has a second part or something, right now there's like a mini manga that comes out...wait for it...once every TWO months gonk I don't have many ships but my OTP is Takao and Midorima from KnB, which sucks bc a big part of the fandom ships them the other way around emotion_facepalm Currently I'm obsessing over a not really popular ship from HQ!!, hopefully they'll get more popular when they appear in the anime, but I'll try not to get my hopes too high...

Their outfit designs are always amazing. Sometimes I wish I had even half of their fashion sense. (Because my "style" is a clean pair of jeans and a t-shirt with minimal dog hair and while it works for me, that's borders on sad or pathetic.) Then reality gets the better of me and I decide I'd rather play around on doll sites when I get the urge than change my own personal style.

I had to look up what an otaku is. redface Though, to be fair, the word does describe my knowledge of random animated princesses. It's a little crippling at times. Still, I can't find it in me to regret it even if I do know the most of the scores to most of the movies by heart.
Is KnB an extension of Fruits Basket? That's the only manga name I can remember a good friend from high school mentioning. Okay, well, I remember Inuyasha, too, but that doesn't have basket in the name.
Nothing wrong with unpopular ships! Sure, there's less merchandise for it (if you're into that), but it doesn't make it any less fun. Like, with the movie Sinbad. I was always more of a fan of bromance between Proteus and Sinbad than I was of a romance between either Proteus and Marina or Sinbad and Marina. They would've been a cute couple.

Heh, there's nothing wrong with not knowing things, my sis loves video games but I know next to nothing about the theme, just like she's not very versed about anime/manga related stuff, since she's just a casual fan of the things she watches/reads~ I've never seen Fruits Basket, but I'm pretty sure it was a shojo (for girls) and probably a reversed harem (meaning the protagonist had several guys after her)...KnB is a shonen (for boys) and it's about basketball, with the main character having an special way to play, that's why the name means "the basketball which Kuroko (the prota) plays" 3nodding The thing with ships is that I love searching for fanart and doujinshis (I've never been into fanfiction) but that's next to non-existent with this ship. And I just don't get it bc they have such a nice canon friendship, not to mention they're very interesting characters emotion_kirakira

Whale whale whale, I think it's finally time for me to go on my lovely lil shpeal~ xD I'll admit, I don't watch anime much. I used to when I was younger, but now with life getting in the way and I'm guessing undiagnosed ADD, it's just really really hard for me to focus on something for more than 5 minutes. But I can read manga just fine! Cuz I can read a chapter in a few minutes so my brain doesn't wander off to fast, so I've read a lot a those. I literally have an entire bookcase of just my manga and weeb s**t, it's already overflown with extra books I don't have room for. I don't really have any specific taste when it comes to manga. Really I'll try anything I hear that might be good. I got 4-panels, slices of life, horror, fantasy, the list goes on and one. But sadly a lot of the ones I really do get into aren't all that big so there's not much in merch around for me to fan over emo And I haven't really watched/read many new stuff, but I learn about all the new things going on through osmosis from tumblr xD And you wanna talk about long breaks between chapters? Freakin D.Gray man updates once every SIX MONTHS!! It's torture I tell ya gonk

I can't say the same for waiting for a new manga book/chapter because I don't read manga but, god, I've been waiting two or three years for the next season of JourneyQuest and now that they're actually producing it (it'll premiere this coming fall, I believe), it feels like it's taking forever. So I can sympathize with the agony.

See that I can get taking a while cuz its a show and production can be a butt xp

Nah. I understand it and even respect it because it means I'm getting a quality show as opposed to some mass-produced, ill-crafted short. Still, I'm just getting... let's call it antsy. It's a great show and I'd love to see more of it. I'm imagining that's how you're feeling about D.Gray's infrequent releases.

It is!! crying Dgray man is such a good series, and the only reason it's on such long hiatuses is because the author has a really bad health condition so she can only do so much now that it's gotten worse. Thankfully she's better than she has been, but who know's if it'll change again and she won't be able to finish the story ;3;
