Evening had settled over Jahuar and a lone figure moved through the trees. Before no one seemed to have noticed him as he maneuvered through the outskirts of the village itself. It wasn't here that he had come to browse after all, but rather he was determined to go further out away from the bustling crowds. He had a reunion to go to and he was finally forcing himself to face up to it. At least the weather is nice for this. Still, he could procrastinate any longer...

It was time to face the music. He had come out of hiding as being dead for years and Kian was finally ready to face his twin. She was probably raging mad at him, but it was fine. He probably deserved a few blows here and there from here. Either way at least he could see her again.

Taking a deep breath, the hybrid finally stalked forward into the clearing where he knew that Eresin and Talisia had made camp. Let's see how this goes...

Watching Eresin train with Nerio intrigued Talisia. Before the girl had always hated the concept of magic to the point that she would simply go out of her way to avoid anyone with the talent. Even finding out that her traveling companion had plans of becoming a mage had almost shattered her friendship with him, but his patience and goofy nature had proven to her that perhaps not all mages were to be feared.

Hearing that her twin was alive, however, still sent a shock down her spine. Where was the jerk hiding? Nerio had claimed he had an apprentice with her eyes, but that he was out on a training session. Even she wasn't that foolish - it was obvious that the older Zenan was hiding something. Was Ciaran -no Kian now- avoiding her completely?

It was such thoughts that often had her roaming about the camp while Eresin was off meditating with Nerio. Even now Talisia found herself just walking idly through the trees with her gaze distant and her thoughts astir...

There she was. Kian took a deep breath before turning away again. Nope, nope... How in the world was he even supposed to approach her? Oh hey sis. I totally was dead for a few years there and so hope you don't mind that oh hey surprise! I'm alive. He would definitely die for that one. How was he even supposed to approach this?

Damn Eresin and his whole good guy nature. Kian ran a hand through his hair in frustration. Was it truly that easy to just come out of the shadows and be honest to her? It was strange though to watch his twin from afar - after so many years apart she seemed a bit different. Still as lovely as ever, but stronger and with a much taller walk. I suppose life on her own and away from that evil woman gave her the confidence that she had always needed...

Talisia frowned as she continued her walk. What was this eerie feeling that kept sending a shudder down her back? Silva wasn't back from his flight was he? No else he would be swooping down before me. The same was true of Eresin - the mage would have already stumbled into sight by now. So then what?

Please no more menzuri. She pleaded as her body still ached at the memory of that awful toxin and hallucinations. Instead, the hybrid just braced herself before finally swerving on her feet to stare hard into the trees, "Okay! Come on out whoever you are!" Her hand lowered towards her waist where her whip rested...she was ready.

Welp, looked like his twin had a sharper gaze than expected. Twisting on his feet once more Kian finally gave in. He would do this - either way he was damned! If he didn't appear she would never forgive him, but if he did appear she would forgive him...eventually. Just might have a few things attached to that forgiveness...but honestly he didn't even know what to expect.

Her voice for one was in a set tone that he hadn't heard from her before, "So authoritative, Tali." He commented as he came out of the shadows slowly, "Looks like the years truly have changed you....sister." There he had said it and he watched as her expression shifted at his appearance. Did you miss me, because I definitely missed you...

That voice! Talisia's whole body froze as she just watched the figure from the past walk out of the trees and towards her. Ciaran.... Her throat burned, but no words could come out as she watched him slowly move forward. Had he truly not changed that much? Though there was some warmth to his expression - something that she hadn't seen in years. He had been so cold until that day he had saved her from their mother.

The thought sent a shiver down her spine - was he still connected to that cursed woman? Nerio hadn't mentioned her nor had he seemed to have anyone controlling his actions. It had been a relief, but to see Kian truly made the girl's heart race. Was it safe? Could this be....true? After so many years of thinking he was dead...

"You..." Talisia blinked against the tears, "You jerk!" Spitting the words out finally the hybrid girl rushed towards her twin. Rather than a hug, however, he was to find himself assaulted in small kicks and smacks, "How could you?!" She cried out while flailing against him. Solid flesh - he wasn't a ghost, but still! How could he? How could he really be here after that night?!

Kian couldn't take his eyes off of her. Did she have any scars that he couldn't see? She definitely had grown taller to match him during their years apart and was far from a tiny apprentice. Odd to think of his twin as anything more than his childhood sister - but she was a woman now. Finally, the role of 'older' sister seemingly made sense.

What didn't make sense was that when he expected a hug he was instead faced with a rain of blows. "Ouch, ouch!" Kian winced as her smack hit him in the shoulder, "Talisia...okay...ouch...maybe I deserve a bit of this. But stop?" As her blows continued the hybrid finally reached out to grab his sibling's wrists, "Stop, Talisia. It's okay." His gaze was sincere as he looked up into her's, "It's okay. I'm truly here."

Not waiting for a reply he pulled her tightly against him into a hug.

The hug didn't surprise her, but the feelings it brought did. Finally as he wrapped her into his arms did Talisia finally cry. Years had she held back her tears from her brother's supposed death, but today they finally broke free. Tears of frustration and relief both just ran down her face as she finally lowered her flailing arms to instead wrap around his waist, "Ki-Kian. I hate you so much." She managed in between sobs, "Why...why did you have to leave me?"

All those years alone thinking that night was it - he was dead and it was all her fault. She had killed him by being weak and by not abiding by their mother's rules. "Your throat...I saw....blood..." He had taken that blade for her when it should have been her own throat slashed...the thought made her gasp loudly as she struggled to breathe through the tears.

"Because I thought you were safer without me." Replied Kian quietly. How could he just come out and say - Well, after I killed our mother I wanted to die as well but this stubborn mage brought me back from the brink of death. Because I had so much blood on my hands I didn't feel it was right to involve you either. Definitely not the best conversation starter, right? So he would pass on saying such things for now.

"I lived. She refused to let me die, so I lived." He stated simply, "It wasn't that bad of a cut, just enough to distract her so that you could run away." His gaze grew dim as he held onto his sibling, "It wasn't the best experiences afterward for my actions, but hey I'm here now. That counts for something right?"

"Who were you to decide that?" Muttered Talisia in protest. Always with his stupid decision making! He had been the one to shun her during their younger years to protect her back then as well. Why did he always feel the need to protect her?! Wasn't she the first born? Why...why did he always make her somehow feel so weak and useless?

No more. I'm not that girl any longer!

"What...what did she do to you?" Talisia's gaze widened in horror as she pulled back from her twin to gaze at him with concern, "Please, Kian. Stop trying to hide all these things. It's the reason we haven't seen each other in years in the first place! If you would just...let me know...or help...I'm not afraid. Please, Kian...is she still after you?"

"Tali..." Kian felt his heart drop as his twin seriously stared him down, "Don't you want to talk about happier things first? Like what happened to you in Jahuar? I hear it wasn't so awful..." He forced a small smile, "Or how I'm doing good now with Nerio? I can tell you some caravan stories to make you laugh."

He motioned her towards a giant root that jutted out of the ground where they both could sit, "It's just...I don't even know if I want to go back." His gaze shifted as he glanced around them, "Can't we just enjoy the fact that we're seeing each other again and that we're both doing well now?" Please Talisia. I don't want you to think badly of me or even remember that cursed woman. All this will do is bring more pain... Right?
PostPosted: Sun Sep 25, 2016 3:43 pm

Talisia lowered her gaze, "I would love to talk about happier things, but Kian...I can't keep running. You told me to run when I was a young girl, but I'm not her anymore. I need to know what happened to you so that I can try and approach our past so that I can move on as well." She raised her teary gaze towards her twin, "I'm done letting fear control me. So please..."

She sat down on the root and stretched her hands out towards him, "Just tell me what you can. I have spent years hating myself for running, Kian, so please don't keep trying to protect me from the truth." Life had shaped her by now and she was a fighter. She had fought in wars, in tournaments, and even had conquered wild beasts...so she truly did not wish for him to baby her any longer.

"You definitely gained some guts, didn't you?" Teased Kian though the smirk didn't reach his rather somber gaze, "I suppose if you're so determined to hear then what rights do I have to refuse you?" His gaze dropped towards the ground, "After the hell I made you go through I definitely owe you. Though I do wish that this wasn't your desire." After all how was she going to react to the full story?

His gaze was firm as he finally looked up towards his twin, "Just know that no matter what I will always treasure my sister. If you choose to have nothing to do with me afterwards...then I understand as well. I'm also proud of you - you've grown up into a beautiful woman, Talisia." That stated he just raised a finger to her lips before continuing, "I was chained up...."

The story continued as he expressed how their mother had taken him around as a doll to others in power. His disobedience in protecting his twin had only caused more grief and he knew that if he distanced himself from Talisia then their mother would stop her attacks on his sister - so cold and distant he ha become. It was after he saved Talisia that his mother finally showed him how cruel she could be...and months of being tied up had changed him - made him bitter enough to find the magic that curled inside. It was then that everything changed...

"I killed her Talisia...I killed our own mother." He finally confessed with a bowed head, "I wanted nothing more than death myself, but Nerio saved me and forced me to live..."

"Obviously. I had to grow them after being on my own." Quipped Talisia sharply, but her expression softened as she noticed her twin's gaze. So he was regretting leaving her alone all this time? I suppose he didn't feel as if he had a choice either. That much was true considering the situation. She still had to remember - he had taken that blade for her own sake. That sacrifice alone was enough to prove his love for her.

The story had tears rolling down her cheeks. Talisia had to hug her legs against her chest as he continued on, "So....she's dead?" Those words were a bare whisper as she glanced at her twin with slight horror. He had done it to save himself and the woman definitely deserved it, but the fact that Kian had bloodied his hands with her blood....their mother's blood. It was shocking, but at the same time Talisia didn't feel disgust.

"I suppose if you think I should shun you now then I must be a monster as well." She finally mused out loud with a small, sad smile, "I couldn't be happier to hear that she's gone nor do I blame you. You were just trying to end the misery...something that should have been done a long time ago." If she had ended it then would they still have a father? Would he have been able to run back to that woman who missed him so? Tears stung at the girl's eyes as she reached forward to hug her twin, "You're a fool, Kian. Why would you ever think that I would hate you, my dearest twin?"

Kian just stared at her in shock, "You...don't fear me?" His gaze studied her features for any signs of emotion. Why was it that just love and concern filled those strange eyes? His heart was breaking in his chest at her reaction.
She wasn't going to shun him or call him a monster? Instead she would rather condemn herself for accepting his actions - and actually being relieved to hear that their mother was gone?

"Tali...you truly forgive me then?" He found the question leaving his lips as he latched onto her, "You truly won't hate me or fear me?"
