So we haven't had a discussion in a little while and after getting a lengthy email from my best friend the other day, I thought," Hey, why not?" So. Friendship.
Tell me about your best friend. When or how did you meet? How long have you been best friends? What sorts of things do the two (or more) of you do together that are classically you? Do you still live near each other or is there some distance between you now? Regardless of location, how often do you see or hear from one another? Share that one thing about him or her that makes you think "Oh, that is so [insert name]." Has your relationship changed at all with time? Other questions. All questions.
Any cute friendship quotes, memes, etc., to share? Funny friendship songs?

My best friend and I met during our sophomore year of high school in a combination of our school's literary magazine and our shared history class with the Dictator. (He was an awful teacher with very strong opinions and a very nasty attitude. Honestly, he bordered on being verbally abusive towards his students more often than not.) At first it was kind of a casual acquaintanceship and I don't even know when it blossomed into more, but it did. So it's been, eh, eight or nine years? Something like that.
We haven't seen each other too often in recent years since we now live on opposite sides of the country but even when we were nearer to each other, we still didn't get together frequently. Two introvert peas in a pod. We mostly communicate through really long emails and also fairly long text messages. It means we don't necessarily hear from each other daily or even weekly but, then again, we're both adults with full-time jobs and our schedules clash. We're still really close in spite of that and I know that if I ever need her, she'll be there. I'll likewise be there for her. There's no judgement, just caring... which is a really nice thing for someone who lives with an emotionally abusive family.
As for things we do, well, it was usually a combination of baking and a Disney movie marathon. Sometimes we'd do nothing but sit there and talk for hours. Nothing too big but still fun all the same. And the one thing that's classically her? She likes cheesy quotes like the ones I have above. They make me roll my eyes because I'm much more of a pessimist than she is, but they make her happy.

★ Kinda bored, so I'll bite at this topic. c: I don't really have a best friend that pops up to mind (because I haven't had very long, mutually close relationships with others, is that indicative of the kind of person I am? orz). So I'll talk about the friend who led me to playing Gaia a month ago!
her name is tap ovo
When or how did you meet?
We played a virtual pet game, and we happened to talk to each other and somehow add each other on Skype. We've seen each other on the game every now and then (we were old, long-standing, and somewhat infamous players), so we just added each other, started talking about simple game things and simple life things.
Now we just talk casually about the virtual stuff we do lol. I'm more into games than she is.
How long have you been best friends?
We're not best friends, per say. But...maybe a year or more? I can't remember.
What sorts of things do the two (or more) of you do together that are classically you?
Play internet games LOL. We talk about how our virtual pet game is going, reminisce about other players there, and now we have Gaia in common. I gush to her about stuff like the threads I post, the avatars I make, etc.
Do you still live near each other or is there some distance between you now?
She's in NY, I'm in FL. Actually, most of my friendships are long distance, as I make more internet friends than real life ones LOL.
Regardless of location, how often do you see or hear from one another?
Like calls? Not often, we don't really call. LOL And I never met her before. We're not against calling if its convenient though, like when we played zOMG.
Share that one thing about him or her that makes you think "Oh, that is so [insert name]."
She's lazy LOL. When it comes to our internet stuff, she doesn't like doing things that take up a lot of work, like fight, or reply to people, or draw (she's also an artist) aha.
I don't blame her though, I am too haha.
Has your relationship changed at all with time?
I mean, it's not so much a best friendship, but we're amicable!
I can't think of any notable quotes/memes unfortunately. ;v;

Belated response. Also short, possibly nonsensical response because I'm ridiculously tired but still a response.
Thanks for sharing! Personally, I don't think it's a bad thing to have only a few friends or even just to have friends over the internet. I seriously just have the one outside of the internet. She's a best friend by default, I guess? It still counts. And if my psych degree tells me anything useful, it's that when it comes to friendship, numbers matter less than quality. So if you're happy with your friendship as is, casual chats about games and all, that's really all that matters. 3nodding
*shoves psych degree back in its box*
Unrelated, but the combo of doughnut and baseball bat in your current avatar makes me smile. It's really cute.

No problem!
Yeah, I've heard a saying that if you have "5 very good friends", you're very lucky in life. I've reflected, and I don't really have many of those LOL. I think I'm too trusting in others, but it isn't the same mutually. I'd only say someone is a best friend if they thought I was their best friend, and I'm just a mediocre one to chat with at best LOL.
And thanks! I got it as an anon gift and I wanted to show my thanks by wearing it...and my mouth was conveniently unused LOL.
I adore your avatars too, they're very lady-like and the colors are nice. I tend to like starry stuff, which you sometimes wear too. o:
