I made a thread for Anime/Manga style tips/tricks & advice, but since there's far more than one style of art, I figured why not add one to the guild for other art styles? There are so many different styles of art that it wouldn't be fair to just stick to anime/manga themed style.

Thus, this thread was also born. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

So this topic is both for asking and sharing advice for beginner artists and beyond! Let's help each other out! User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Not really a ton of difference between the advice that can be given for anime style art and any other style, what could be given to one would largely apply to the other. But I have some resources I can share here:

Quote:
https://www.studentartguide.com/articles/line-drawings
This site defines a few art terms and provides some examples that could be helpful for beginners.

Resources and Tools:

https://www.boredpanda.com/alice-wonderland-drawing-animation-technique-kathryn-beaumont/
Shows how Disney animators used live models for animating, can be handy figuring out how to use reference material (and is just kinda neat).

https://twitter.com/i/moments/901932425424642049?lang=en
VERY IMPORTANT! This twitter shows a few stretches and exercises which can help prevent some serious pain in the neck/back/wrist/hand. Definitely suggest artists make a habit of using these stretches and exercises when taking regular breaks.

https://line-of-action.com/practice-tools/figure-drawing/
This is a great resource to do random life drawings, I highly suggest the class mode as I find it works best to use changing intervals of time to work on each drawing; this keeps you from getting stuck on details especially when just warming up.

https://twitter.com/HandyArtTool
This twitter has some pretty nice resources (though I found the actual handy art tool kind of useless).

http://mmanga.net/
Some nice general pose resources.

https://www.pinterest.com/characterdesigh/
Good examples of character design and turn around sheets (pinterest otherwise is the absolute enemy, they dominate image searches and getting the actual source from their site oddly enough tends to be near impossible even when they list it).

http://learninganatomy.tumblr.com/page/5
Some general resources including anatomy.

Anatomy Resources

https://www.lcps.org/cms/lib4/VA01000195/Centricity/Domain/1719/muscle-chrat.jpg
A basic muscle chart, pretty simple and handy.

http://kitasite.net/kr/index.htm
This is probably my FAVORITE resource, it has a lot of exploration of anatomy and even has some animated gifs to help see how the muscles and bones move. It's in Japanese but you can randomly click the links to explore and it works fine.

http://www.anatomyarcade.com/games/PAM/PAM.html
A flash based muscles chart but it also is a quiz which can help you get more familiar with the muscles and what they're called. I'd highly suggest this so you can better construct the human form.

https://gfycat.com/gifs/search/muscle+(anatomical+structure)
Some great reference of how each muscle moves. Good for studying.

Animation Resources

https://animatorsresourcekit.blog/
Has a few suggested resources, books, tips, etc. Pretty decent starting point to look into animation.

https://gizmodo.com/12-hypnotic-animation-tricks-used-by-disneys-legendary-1570953121
Talks about one of the most basic principles of animation squash and stretch.

https://vimeo.com/199661688
Nice video helping to understand walk cycles and talks a bit about timing too as I recall.

https://vimeo.com/202070924
Video of how to do a walk cycle with a 3D model.

http://framexframe.tumblr.com/
Has animated gifs and then images of each frame to help you see how the animation breaks down, pretty cool and useful.

Color Theory
(these are some color theory resources I haven't really looked much into yet so I'm just going to set them here)

http://www.tigercolor.com/color-lab/color-theory/color-theory-intro.htm

http://www.worqx.com/color/index.htm

https://www.creativebloq.com/colour/colour-theory-11121290

https://www.colormatters.com/color-and-design/basic-color-theory

Hope this all helps. Sadly I don't have any resources yet for perspective or animal/creature drawing. Other than these resources I'd of course suggest looking into doing life drawing, either going to public sessions or doing cafe drawing and just drawing the people around you. Also still life is very helpful too, especially when starting out.
