The first is more interesting than the second, but both are a bit bland. You might try varying your subject, and the manner in which you capture it. The composition of the 2nd doesn't do much for the subject. A macro shot, or an interesting angle could have improved it.

Yes, they are kinda bland. But I like how the trees form a frame around the first one, and the contrast is interesting. 'w'
There isn't much in the second to look at. From this size the flowers are generally pink blobs, and they tend to get lost in the busy brick-and-fence background.

I like the first one best because the contrast in colour is really nice, like you're waiting for something beyond the darkness, you know?
For the second one, the background does ruin it a little. Maybe if you zoomed in a little and took the picture alot closer, like focus on a particular group of flowers, the colours would look good. A nice natural shot.

First off, don't ever be nervous to show others your skills. You can only learn and florish from others. Besides, if they cannot say anything nice about it, they aren't worth your time. -^____^- Plus, only helpful criticism is allowed in this guild.
Now for the pictures. I love the first one! It has a dark background so it really makes the viewer focus on the tree. Wonderful contrast. It also seems to have an overall green color even the darkness in the background it gives of a greenish color. Very pretty in my opinion.
The second on is nice too. I love that plant, what is it? Pretty pink flowers. Though, instead of backing off of your subject to get it all in the picture, get closer to it. Focus on one cluster of flowers even. So that the picture has more of what you wanted in it, instead of your background that might not compliment the original subject as much.
Very lovely work. Keep it up and I can't wait to see more!
Oh and do you focus on taking pictures of plants or did you just happen to upload two nature pictures?

Agree! Don't be afraid, especially of constructive critiscism because it will help you improve.
My two cents: don't be afraid to get up close and personal with your subjects.

whee I must say good work! You actually kinda remind me of me when I started. sweatdrop
Often we get these great ideas, but don't yet have the knowledge or experience to know how to execute them; I am still that way!
I wish you all the best! You have my 100% support!

You might want to try varying the angles and try playing with different lighting. It is good though.
