Okami Wolfen The young detective nearly jumped out of her skin as a woman's voice spoke up from behind her. Sumi turned to meet the face of an older woman, her age showing faintly upon her skin. Though her resting expression looked deadly the lady herself was beautiful. The soft nod gave the men their signal to walk away. Sumi watched them leave before she returned her gaze towards the eyes behind the framed glass.
Sanborn gave an apology but thanked her for her assistance in the matter at hand. Giving the lady a gentle smile, Sumi said, "It's a tad bit unexpected and short notice but my family will understand. I hope." A leg crossed over the other, tucking her purse in between her thigh and the side of her chair. Using a finger she brushed back a strand of hair, tucking it behind her ear. Upon listening to the other details and comments; Sumi's face couldn't help but twist into a frown at the mention of her nationality. Her optimistic demeanor shifted slightly, feeling annoyed by the woman's superiors having an issue with that. Upon hearing Sanborn speak about her character made Sumi relax a bit.
Of course, the mention of being investigated was not shocking news. A criminal mentioning her by name would give leeway to begin that process. She would do it herself if she was in the FBI's shoes. Though they wouldn't find anything that connected her to this criminal. She rarely did anything outside of work except to care for her family. She didn't have any close friends to hang around either. "Whatever it takes to get me back to my family quicker, I'll give my fullest cooperation." Taking the folder from Sanborn she opened it.
Mocha-colored eyes fell on a low-quality image of the woman that had wanted her here. Sumi spotted a few details. The purple hue of the glasses rested on her face. The unique hairstyle could stand out in a crowd of people. Around her own age as well. Although the clothing on her body screams high fashion. Brands, Sumi only dreamt of obtaining for herself if she had the funds to buy. Sanborn spoke the unfamiliar name again. Eyes skimmed the notes as Sanborn recited them. A daughter of an Italian mob boss? The question lingered in her mind. What benefit would the Italian mafia's daughter gain from playing on land across the ocean? Sanborn continued, speaking of events that happened to the mob boss. Just before she could flip the page, Sanborn beat her to it.
While the story unfolded before her, Sumi tried hard to keep up though some parts didn't make much sense to her. Widened eyes danced around large figures of money. Money that could help her family dealing with her mother's health issues and her student loans just absorbed into nothing. Sumi was just as baffled as Sanborn. How could someone go so long without a paper trail? Even people going off the grid in the U.S. could easily be traced if searched for hard enough. "Is this the most recent photo of her? Or is it from twenty-two years ago?" She inquired, trying to begin her own detective work on the case. No doubt she was underprepared for this but she would try everything she could to help. Even if her questions seem redundant or pointless.
Jill would shake her head in disappointment. "It’s the only one we could find, and it’s at least twenty years old.” -------------
Staring at the two-way mirror she tapped her thumb against her lip, anxiously waiting. Questions, ideas, thoughts, etcetera flooded in the forefront of her mind. It was a lot to take in. A case that seemed as fresh as it could be but with a lot of information. Being led in here she stuck out like a sore thumb. Everyone seemed to be dressed mainly in black or black suits. Here she stood in white pants, a maroon-colored blouse, and a light grey knit cardigan.
She couldn't help but feel the thick atmosphere of the building. Every corner and room felt so tense that Sumi's chest grew heavy. Even their brief elevator ride down was nothing but tension, mixed with nerves building up inside her. Sanborn opened another door, gestured for Sumi to walk in first. She got to meet Agent Parker, he seemed like a nice fellow. Following the clicking footsteps of Sanborn, Sumi's shoes padded gently against the concrete, blocked out from the heels that Sanborn wore. Sumi was in awe at how large the room was. Though more shocked at the cube in front of them.
Sumi looked at the figure in the sealed room, who occupied only the chair. The light cascaded over the blonde in a way that had Sumi starring a bit too long at it. Sanborn spoke again, informing Sumi that they were there and listening. Giving her the sense she was safe. Her chest tightened again, and her nerves worked up so much she felt as if she would need to throw up. After a moment she straightened herself and marched forward. Approaching the woman that only wished to speak to her. Reaching her destination of the chair outside the box, her eyes met that of a dark shade of pink. There was no way that could be real, even purple iris' was rare in the world. Did this woman wear colored contacts?
The woman's smile took her breath away, though Sumi couldn't tell if it was because it added to her beauty or because it was supposed to be menacing. The thick glass muffled her speech but the tone was captivating. The question still ate at her though, how did this woman know her name since they've never met before. The laugh didn't help as Sumi nearly had a heart attack as a loud blaring sound echoed through the hall from behind her. She turned to look at the noise for a second before looking back at Claudia as the cube began to move away from its occupant. She had wondered how it worked, suppose she got her answer. Claudia spoke once again, knowing details of the Korean woman.
Looking back towards the agents once more than returning her gaze to Claudia, Sumi stood a bit taller, then sat down on the empty chair. "I have many questions for you indeed. Though you see, I was told by the agents here you already refused to answer them willingly, unless you were to speak to me directly. Which brings me to my first question; how do you know who I am, when we've never met before?"

I’m A Sin Eater; I Absorb The Misdeeds Of Others ______________________________________________________________________ The Maw - International Criminal - Notorious Legend
She was...breathtaking.
High, pronounced cheekbones. A sharp jawline. Warm, gentle eyes. A cute little button nose. Alabaster skin, and raven-colored hair. Small, but full lips. She stole the spark right out of Claudia’s eye. But that had always been the case. There had never been a day that Claudia didn’t think Sumi was the most encapsulating thing that ever walked this earth. Not since the first time she laid eyes on her, all those long years ago. “You’re only asking because you live in a world where knowing someone and meeting someone are assumed to be the same thing. That isn’t always the case, in my world.”
Sumi’s eyes narrowed a bit. She was analyzing. Watching. Her gaze was so much more intuitive than the suit-and-tie protocol of these stuffy federal agents. Their training made them excellent hunters when it came to your average criminals. But Claudia was far from average. "And what world are you referring to then?" Sumi asked. Her question was responsive. Direct to Claudia’s statement. A probe; and a well-placed one at that. “My world. The underbelly of society. The wilds of humanity.”
As good as an answer to her first question as she was going to get. “How’s your partner? Hitchins, or...Hodgkins? I forget his name. Is he still dealing with that identity fraud scandal, or is he doing better?” A bit of an entrapping question. Claudia already knew full well that Higgins was doing just fine. Considering that Claudia herself had been the one to ensure Higgin’s case of identify theft had been swiftly wrapped up by the FBI, instead of lost in a backlog of thousands-plus cases. Not to mention the fact that she’d also been the one to hire the one who’d committed the crime, but, that was a story for another time.
“Also Higgins is doing just fine, though I'm not certain what you mean by identity fraud scandal." Claudia smiled a bit more at that. “Not important.” She said dismissively. That would be enough for Sumi to look into it on her own time later. It wasn’t Claudia’s place to put Higgin’s out on front street. He’d tell his own stories.
"I can see that you are only going to give vague or somewhat vague statements to certain questions then. I'm curious though, how you managed to disappear for nearly twenty years yet look exactly the same as you did back then?" Claudia’s smile lessened a bit at that one. Sumi had cut straight to the heart of things. She was right. But there was a reason for Claudia’s little riddles. “That’s correct. Better a vague answer than a lie.” Claudia shrugged. “What a sweet compliment. I take care of myself. Smoke weed. Take time out for me.” Claudia winked in Sumi’s direction.
A few moments of silence passed. Sumi staring Claudia down as she made her assessments. Claudia was the first to speak, and offer Sumi a sort of olive branch. “The man who took those children isn’t your average kidnapper. I’m afraid what he intends for those kids may be quite macabre. If you want to catch him before he can succeed, you’re going to need my help.”
“You know where he is?” Sumi quickly asked. Smart. “No.” Claudia replied flatly. “But I know the man who does. I can take you to him, provided you’re still willing to go.”
“...and why would you do that?” Sumi asked. Claudia smiled again. Sumi knew as well as Claudia that the FBI wouldn’t just let her go in exchange for her help. “For now? We’ll say it’s for the children. If you stick it out with me until the end...I’ll tell you my other reasons. So--” Claudia raised her hands from the table, and the chains beneath her cuffs jangled against the table. “--or did you have any more questions?”

The woman that sat in front of her was…. daunting. Claudia’s attire and haircut weren’t the features Sumi was intimidated by the most. It was the tattoo on the woman’s neck, and from a glance, it would be hard to miss if one wasn’t paying attention to the finer details. Sumi had noticed just briefly that the tattoo appeared just slightly raised above the woman’s skin as if it wasn’t just a mere tattoo. Mocha eyes fixated on Claudia’s vivid pink ones. Sumi had assumed they were contacts though it was hard to tell unless she was closer to see the rings around Claudia’s iris’ as contacts would be. Sumi tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, continuing to analyze the woman as they spoke. Claudia’s answers were vague or said in such a way to make Sumi think harder. Whatever Claudia was hiding about herself, she was excellent at doing so. Not budging a single moment no matter how hard Sumi had pressed for an answer.
Sumi did want to ask Higgins about his identity fraud issue Claudia has spoken about. If it were true then this woman knew a lot more about Sumi than she wanted to speak about. This made Sumi more terrified than intrigued. Sumi had to admit though the wink given to her caught her off guard, making the blood in her cheeks rise just slightly enough to stain it a light shade of pink. Silence filled the air around the pair before Claudia filled the void with her alluring voice. “The man who took those children isn’t your average kidnapper. I’m afraid what he intends for those kids may be quite macabre. If you want to catch him before he can succeed, you’re going to need my help.”
“So you know where he is?”
“No.” The tone from Claudia was flat, not like the other vocal tones she’s been using through the interview. “But I know the man who does. I can take you to him, provided you’re still willing to go.”
Of course, Sumi still wanted to go. She became a detective after all to help those in need; children’s lives were on the line. Who in their right mind would refuse to accept help? It was just that, Sumi could sense there was something else Claudia wasn’t fully telling them like she wanted something in return for helping them.
“...and why would you want to help?” Sumi inquired, attempting another jab at the woman. Just to find something that may be hidden within Claudia’s true intentions, though that all depended on her answer. For the children. Of course, this task was for the children, it was the other answer Sumi wanted to know more. What else was in it for Claudia? The chains jangled, nearly giving Sumi a jump from the sudden metal-on-metal noise. With a quick shake of her head, Sumi looked back at the agents. She of course didn’t have a key to the cuffs, therefore she couldn’t unlock them for Claudia.
Sumi stood from the chair, brushing herself off a bit, waiting for the agent's next demands from her. She did want to message her family, at least her father to let him know she was safe and doing okay. Except all her items were confiscated when she stepped foot into the building. FBI protocol and all that jazz. Sumi moved away from the chair, in case they would place the square confinement space back to its place around Claudia.with :: Claudia, agents mood :: observing location :: FBI underground bunker theme :: oh my god

I’m A Sin Eater; I Absorb The Misdeeds Of Others ______________________________________________________________________ The Maw - International Criminal - Notorious Legend
It wasn’t more than twenty minutes before Jill stopped arguing with her second-in-command. The senior agent insisted it was an absolutely ludicrous idea to cut her loose. ‘She’s obviously a criminal,’ she would say, but what did they have on her? Nothing. Some actionable intelligence, sure, but they’d have to verify it. As it stands it was only circumstantial. Therefore they decided it was in their best interest to avoid any possible lawsuit; and released Claudia from their custody. Deputy Director Sanders equipped Sumi with a burner phone that they could call; and trace. Before sending them both on their way.
Claudia was smiling that empty smile of hers as she collected her possessions from the release desk. Her stay in the police station had been one of their briefest; and she hadn’t even needed a lawyer to work her way out. She walked towards the door; glancing over her shoulder to ensure Sumi was still following. Once it was confirmed, Claudia would open the door for Sumi, and the pair of women would step outside. Sitting on at the curb was a black Lincoln Continental, 90’s year, and in mint condition. A beautiful Nubian woman with a shaved head was standing next to the back door of the car; and had her hands folded in front of herself.
“Hello, Dee. Punctual as always.” Claudia smiled, and the Nubian woman--apparently called Dee--opened the door for her employer. Claudia slipped into the back seat of the car; and Dee would hold the door open until Sumi joined her. Once inside they were both settled in nicely; and Sumi would take note of the Corinthian leather. The fully stocked mini-bar. The limousine-like remodel of the vehicle. It was all so grand. Like riding in the queen’s carriage while all the peasants traipsed by in the mud. Sumi would note that Claudia was staring out of the window; and assumed they would ride in silence.
"Ms. Kang." Claudia began, gathering Ms. Kang's attention, and yet continuing to stare out the window as they drove. "A question for you;" she continued, "how many evil men would you kill to save an innocent child?" Claudia asked. Before turning her head to finally face Sumi, and speak more directly. "How many? Would you kill ten evil men to save one innocent child? A hundred evil men? A thousand? More? Do you have a limit? Where does the "greater good" end, and "genocide" begin?” She asked plainly. Watching Sumi, carefully, for her physical reactions as much as her verbal ones.
"I only ask on the chance that may be exactly what we find ourselves forced to do." She concluded. "To kill evil men in order to save innocent lives. Will you mourn them, Sumi?" Claudia asked in heavy breaths. "Will their faces haunt you after you pull the trigger? Even after you pick up the children they would have otherwise killed, and return them to their mother's arms? Will you still feel...guilty, for what you've done? What you were forced to do?"
Sumi would turn her head to give her attention to claudia. Until she would be stumped on the question asked of her because Sumi would rather not take anyone's life even if deemed 'evil'. Staying quiet a long time until Claudia would finish speaking to her. It was definitely a question that caught her off guard, because as a detective/cop Sumi's answer should be to protect all the innocent lives threatened by the 'evil' men. "That's a really tough question, but I think genocide would be more about a race issue like what Hitler did to the Jews, or what the Americans did with Manifest Destiny with the indigenous people of this land. I think the phrase you'd want to call is it mass murder." She paused a second, and that gave Claudia an opportunity to interject.
“Tribe-Killing.” Claudia replied. When she caught Sumi’s eye, Claudia explained. “Genocide means ‘tribe-killing.’ It’s Greek. But more importantly you seem to believe that evil men are individuals. Evil is a tribe, Sumi; and all men who commit evil acts, will protect their evil brothers. Have no illusions in that. But, please. I’m sorry I cut you off. You were saying?” Sumi arched her brow, before looking out the window and giving a sigh,
"Children have their life ahead of them though, and as much as I'd wish to give everyone a fair trial to be caught, sometimes 'evil' people have to die to save the innocent. Evil people made their choice, though whether or not they did so willingly is up for debate I'm sure.." She'd brush a hand through her hair, looking down at her hands in her lap. "I always feel guilty, though as painful as it is to say, in this job, you have to live with it as long as you don't let it consume you."
“and there you have it.” Claudia responded as though Sumi were a student who’d worked their way to the answer in a lecture. “They made their choice. That is the sum of your moral responsibility; and yet you feel guilt all the same. It’s a remarkable thing, isn’t it? The human conscience.”
’We are here.’
Dee’s gentle voice spoke up from the driver’s seat; and Claudia reached down to unbuckle herself. She put her hand on the door, and glanced over to Sumi. "My contact may wonder who you are. You'll need breviloquent answers. Make them believable, Sumi. Because I won't let anything happen to you." Claudia said those last eight words with more weight than she'd said anything else. Allowing a moment of silence to pass before she continued. "Which means if they discover you're an investigator, I'll be forced to kill everyone inside." She said it so flatly--with such certainty--that Sumi would have a hard time not believing her.
Sumi understood what Claudia meant. Being quick on her feet and giving believable answers was what would make all this work. She would give a nod and felt the chill in the air with the near threatening voice Claudia would use with her other comments as well. She'd quietly follow behind the blonde.
Claudia's pink eyes rested on Sumi for a few moments longer; before she opened the door, and stepped outside. They entered the warehouse from the rear entrance, and had to navigate quite a bit of dilapidated structure to find their way to the center of the building. There, in the middle, was a hatch in the floor. Claudia opens up the hatch, and reveals a flight of stairs. She leads Sumi inside to a miniature bunker of sorts, occupied with many colorful criminal types, and goes directly to the bar.
"Evening Malcolm," Claudia began with a bit of pep, "I'm looking for your boss. Is he in?" The bartender continued wiping his glass, and eyeing up Sumi. "Who's this" he asked in a gruff voice. "This?" Claudia asked, gesturing towards Sumi. "Mia Yang. One of the -greatest- cat burglars I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Nimble as a cat, and flexible as putty. Tell him about that painting you stole in Rome, Mia." Claudia said with a smile, gently patting Sumi on the shoulder to cue her.
Upon arriving at the bar Sumi did a quick glance around the place, before meeting her eye contact with the gentlemen behind the bar, she'd flash a sultry smile. "For curators that are supposed to keep their eye on expensive pieces, they are a bit way too high and mighty to assume people can't steal under their nose." Sumi had deepened her voice and talked in a slower manner than normal. "It's also a pity the lights happened to go out at the right time." She looked over her nails in a delicate fashion, batting her eyes at the man. "The electrician was quite enthused to help out~"
Claudia couldn’t help the smile that blossomed across her face. Sumi was a natural criminal. She smiled and flowed as easily as anyone else did. She played on all her strengths. Her size, her beauty, her ethnicity, her street knowledge, her law enforcement capabilities...she was everything and more. But she was still raw. Still oblivious to the world that squirmed and crawled beneath her feet. It would take time to unfold. For now, however, she was doing just fine.
“Yeah ai’ight,” Malcolm finally responded, “c’mon.” He reached underneath the bar; and pressed his thumb against a button. A buzzer. The door just around the corner of the bar clicked open; and Claudia offered the bartender a sly wink before looping her arm through Sumi’s. She led the woman towards the door which had been opened; and they entered into a concrete stairwell. It was old. The stone chipped in many places. They walked down the flights of stairs until they arrived upon another door. This one made of a dark wood. Claudia didn’t even have to knock. As they approached it, it began to open, and the dim glow of candlelight escaped from its cracks.
In the room beyond was a man. An elder man of dark skin, a long white beard, colorless eyes, and a horribly scarred face. Bones of both small creatures and men alike littered the desk he sat behind. His large red-leather chair looking like a bloodied throne. The mounted heads of animals found in America and countries beyond circled the walls. The man raised his chin as the women entered; and sniffed deeply. Almost snorting as he drew in their scent from the air. Some crazed hoodoo priest, perhaps? Sumi would have to make her own conclusions.
“You ugly t’ing…” The man finally spoke, “always stinkin’a smoke, and sulfah...and dis--” He gestured rudely in Sumi’s direction, “--dis is your offering? A penniless Kine wit’ no fame to claim; nor claim to fame...I hope ya brought betta dan dis, little Prince.”
Claudia finally released Sumi’s arm; and sat down in one of the posh chairs across from the man’s desk. She interlaced her fingers in front of herself; and glanced over to the hoodoo man. “Now Sam...you and I both know I’ve never been one to gift you anything that’s still alive.” Claudia said with that grin of hers. “This is no sacrifice. This is my new Ward; and she’s unrelated as to why I’m here.” Claudia replied curtly. “You provided safe harbor to a pack that recently abducted some high-profile children. I need their immediate location; and I need it immediately.” Claudia said with a smile. Using the same play-on-words tactics that he’d used on them.
The man called Sam laughed aloud; and leaned forward. “Well well well...who am I to refuse you, eh? A favor from you would come mighty handy...but dis one--” He flicked his chin towards Sumi Kang. “I like de way she smells; and de more I smell of her...de more interested I become. What was your name again, girl?” He asked Sumi. “You smell..funny. Kine don’t usually smell funny to me, little Prince,” he said with a glance towards Claudia, “Unless dhey’re junkies...or cops. So...which are you?” He asked Sumi directly.
Claudia could intervene. Could say something. But this was part of the challenge. Part of unfolding her potential. Sumi had to be adaptive. Had to know her charms and where to apply them. Learning on the fly was the only way to learn. In this world, anyway.

Sumi had no idea whether or not the bartender believed her story or not. At least when her brown eyes flicked over to Claudia, the enigmatic woman seemed amused from the looks of it. Once Malcolm opened a hidden doorway that led to a stairwell and Claydia linked their arms together, Sumi assumed she was in the clear. The clacking of her heels echoed down the stairwell as she held onto Claudia's arm with her own.
The small woman wondered if the blonde could feel or sense her heartbeat increase from a bit of anxiety. Sumi let her hand rest on Claudia's arm while they made their descent. The door they eventually came upon looked old, made of dark wood. As it opened the candle light welcomed them in with its soft glow. Sumi's eyes reflected the small wicks of fire as they fell upon a man.
Her instinct was to flee immediately upon seeing him. His presence was intimidating which made her stomach turn. Though she forced herself to remember what Claudia told her. don't let anyone know you're an investigator. Make believable answers to questions. Once Claudia removed herself from Sumi's side, the Asian woman stepped to a nearby wall to give them a little bit of space.
Her back rested against it while she let her arms cross over her chest. Shifting some of her weight to a single hip as she watched them for a moment, before realizing this was a way that she would approach interrogating someone. Nonchalantly she brought one hand closer to her face to "observe" her nails. Making sure they were in decent condition while she listened to the pair converse.
What she did gather was how crude this man was. Sumi's eyes moved to the man when she sensed he was talking about her again. The way he phrased his sentence made her skin crawl. Chocolate eyes moved from him, to Claudia, and then back again. She made note of his surroundings, the bones upon his desk; some of which appeared human. His accent was strong but clear enough that Sumi understood what he was saying.
Their interactions seem as though many offerings or gifts were exchanged for information; at least prior to Sumi’s presence. Being thought of as a sacrifice made her skin crawl and her blood go cold. Claudia knew some strange people, and had warned the woman she was dangerous before. But to what extent? What exactly was Claudia’s goal? The blonde woman was very recluse and expressionless. Hard to read.
When Sam mentioned her scent and how he phrased it made her stomach turn into knots. She knew Claudia wouldn’t let anything happen to her, but this man seemed like he really wanted something from her. Now was her time to speak, a quick glance to Claudia for help though she knew the woman wouldn’t intervene, this was something Sumi had to do on her own. ”Actually it's Giorgio Armani.” Sumi said with some snark. She pushed herself away from the wall, taking a stride past Claudia, letting her hand brush over the woman’s shoulders before approaching the man at his desk.
Carefully she made a little bit of room upon his desk for her to sit on, right in front of him. ”My name though, that is a privilege to know. Some call me Mia, others know me as Ava..” Ever so slightly she leaned forward to whisper into his ear, ”I only allow a select few to know my name. Though usually they have to earn it~” Sumi attempted her seductive voice again, this time a little more flirty. Slowly she sat back up, crossing a leg over the other and sliding a hand up her own thigh. ”Is that something you would be curious to know? Sam?”with :: Claudia and Sam mood :: observing location :: theme :: oh my god
