You just can't quite slip out of the geek shell, can you?
Everywhere you go, you simply must take your computing knowledge with you, and laugh at the stupidity of others when they can't figure out how to use a computer.

Well, now it's time for them to laugh at you for your stupidity with normal life!

What is the stupidest/funniest thing that you've ever done relating to something everyone is supposed to know?

Like, riding a bike. Did you press thr brake wrong?

Share it so we can laugh at our misfortunes in the "normal" way of life. ^_^

Well, this one time, my friends were riding down this big hill in their neighborhood on their bikes, and using the raise in the driveway at the bottom as a ramp. They would hit the grass and slam on their brakes to do a power slide. I thought it was pretty cool, so I tried. I went flying down the street, hit the jump at the bottom and, in my panicked exhilleration, hit my brakes in mid air. I hit the grass and was immediately thrown over the handlebars (which I failed to let go of until...) I rolled over and launched my bike into the air, and watched it hit a tree and break the front tire. I ended up with a concussion and a broken bike... how fun is that. My friends all laughed at me until they realized I had been concussed, and then they laughed harder, just not where I could hear them.

Well, this one time,

... At Band camp? xd

No. But that story was great. I have one involving rollerblades.

My friend and I just learned how to rollerblade, and thinking we were so cool, we decided to go down the steepest driveway in the neighborhood.

Not being completely stupid, we did it near the bottom then worked our way upward.

Well, from full height, I came down, magically tripped over something, stopped myself with my knees, and had a HUGE gash for my knee.
I had a scar that lasted maybe two years.
BUT.
I decided to leave rollerblading alone until I healed.
So one month later, I worked on that driveway again.
Once more, full height, I magically tripped on something, stopped myself with my knees, and my OTHER knee got the exact same gash.
Had that scar for maybe two months(I guess it wasn't as deep or something).

I gave up rollerblading after that. xd

I replaced the front tire on my bike and didn't get it put on all the way... so it slipped out of the notch, caused me to flip over my handle bars. I then carried my bike to my grandfathers (about a mile away) borrowed a wrench, and fixed it...

Damn bike.

I was sitting at the lunch table, and a friend of mine said he was reading the Akira Manga.
Well, knowing that manga is huge, I said,
"What was it about?"
And the second guessing myself, "... Or was it mostly pictures?"

xd Such an idiot.

(Manga = comic book, for those who don't know)

I.... Uhh.... Can't think of any at the moment, to be honest. sweatdrop

But it appears that the phrase "just like riding a bicycle" has gained new definition in C&T, judging by all the incidents that members have had riding these metal monsters of death and carnage. xd

I have had a few bike "incedents".

The first was a few years ago, me and a fried were racing down an alley as fast as we could. Of course I won, but there is a little known fact that there is a brick wall at the end. Well, in my joy of winning, I forgot to brake. Needless to say I slammed full speed straight into that wall. I spent the rest of that afternoon hobbling home dragging my broken bike after me. I think the house I used to live in then still has bloodstains on the front door from me trying to get in.

The next was relatively recent. I was riding peacefully along the sidewalk one morning. Then I got distracted. I noticed my sleeve was flapping in the wind and was thinking "Oooh, that looks cool.". Then *WHAM* I hit a parked car and end up flying over it and falling on my a**. I didn't hurt myself too bad, but it was suprising.

Jumping my bike with some friends off these big dirt mounds. I ended uppulling too far back to balance, and so I pulled forward. Overcorrected, and endoed' my bike. Bike flies up in the air, comes crashing down on my head. My belt dug out an inch wide, two-inch long strip of flesh from my gut. I was shirtless, and tore my chest to hell and back sliding ont he gravel, and scraped up my face and knees but good. That's not the worst. My wrist hurt for three dasy after, finally buckled and went to the doctor. I ahd a 6" hairline fracture from my right wrist to my elbow. Whoops. Guess I shouldn't have been stealing lumber and building supplies 4 hours after the crash.. I just screwed up my wrist more.

I used to rollerblade, as well. While learnign how, I was going across my front porch, and I overcorrected on a slide-stop. Went face first into the corner of a wooden beam, holding up the porch roof. Two weeks later, while ollieying my skateboard on the back porch, I hit the corner of another beam, in the same spot on my skull. Then, I fell from the air and smashed the back of my head into the pavement. I split my skull plates, and now have a divit that runs fron above my nose to behind my ear..

Me plus wheeled vehicles is apparently a very dangerous combination.

Alrighty kids! Let's get the Mod-Squad up and running again! xd

You know, it could just be that when I was a kid, I used to wear full clothes and protective gear when I did things like this. Call me a square- or cube, rather (giggle, inside joke)- but I always liked to play it safe...

Hey, I just thought of something that I could add! Just couple days ago, I was sildering these really nice Tenergy NiMH cells to make 3300mAH 8.4v battery packs... These babies, when fully charged, can put out circa 30 Amperes... Anyway, I was nearing the completion of one battery pack when I reached across the work bench to grab the "large" battery connector, when I accentally shorted across two cells I was holding. Now, for those of you that don't know, 8.4v being pumped by 30A makes some metals, say the metal tabs on SC cells, for exemple, glow bright yellow almost instantly... Well, needless to say, I carterized my finger to a battery pack, which required an abrasive pad to clean my seared flesh from it.

Now, I have to type using 9 fingers, until my right index finger heals.

But battery-making is a geeky thing. Totally not counting as a normal thing!

But, funny nonetheless. xd

Well back when I lived in Noth Carolina my friend had a huge oak tree in his back yard that had a tarzan type swing attached to it. He also had a nice little pool. Being the testosterone driven teenager that I was I decided to use the swing to jump into the pool. Well it seems that I overshot the pool and ended up sliding ten feet on my left arm, the worst part of it is that I landed in some doggie poo stare . With a nice gash running across my arm I decide to bike myself home, which was about a mile. On the way there someone calls my name and I look behind me, then promptly run into a mailbox, hurting my arm further. It starts bleeding more and starts really smarting so I walk the rest of the way home, but with my oh so great luck, right when I'm able to see my house a kid on a scooter crashes into me, breaking my right arm, I start to freak when theres a bone poking out of my right arm. My parents take me to the hopsital, and they do the things that they do. Turns out I broke my left arm radius/ulna, and my right radius, whee what a great summer that was.
