Piet has a wild imagination. He loves to create and think up new ways to explore the world. He loves making up games, songs, and anything else to keep himself entertained. He often dreams of space exploration and wandering crazy forests. If he can dream it, he can think of a way to try and bring his ideas to life.

While having an active imagination is great, Piet likes to back up his dreams with research. Sometimes that involves having people read to him, but sometimes it involves exploring the world. While sometimes the results back up his ideas, he's also had his share of disappointment when it comes to what he learns. Luckily, he can usually come up with new ideas based on that information.

Piet absolutely loves working with his hands. He often builds things needed to play, from little forts to kitchens, he's good at making what's needed. He often tries to do things himself, but if they go awry, he's good at pivoting his play to something he can accomplish.

Piet loves being a silly goose (but not an actual goose, because they're frightening!) whenever he can. He likes to play games, make up silly songs, or tell jokes to try and get a laugh. While he sometimes attempts subtle puns, little kids often aren't very good at subtlety. He is usually wearing a smile and he loves when he can make others smile with him.

Piet has a heart of gold. He loves true and deep, wanting to make sure everyone else is happy and cared for. He often does anything he can to make people happy, even if it's at his own emotional expense. Sometimes he doesn't really understand when people have big emotions, but he does understand when people sometimes need a little extra love.

With being such a loving soul, Piet is prone to feeling emotions a bit harder than other kids. He gets really hurt if people are mean, making him turn to tears, but happy moments bring a wealth of sunshine to his heart. Emotions are a bit tricky, but he does his best to navigate.

Pieter was born to Martha Mae Freids and Levi Lukas Nietercot. They were a young couple in love, and they were surprised when they learned they were pregnant. They tried to work it out, to stay together, but it was difficult. It was hard, since Martha was also trying to go to uni for nursing while Levi worked at a shop and was always a little vague about where. Martha looked past it because he kept their finances in order and took care of her, but it did raise suspicions.

After Piet was born, Martha tried to continue with school, making Levi shift his schedule to overnights so he could stay home with their baby. He did everything he could to encourage his little boy, wanting to make sure his little boy was happy. He was increasingly exhausted, but he sacrificed every day to make sure Martha could meet her dreams. One day, close to her graduation, Levi asked her for a couple days off following her graduation. As much as he loved his son, between work and baby minding, he seldom had time to rest. She got mad, saying she wanted to jump straight into work. He tried to compromise, but she said her job would be more important than "whatever" he was doing.

Once she'd successfully graduated, Martha went to work. She worked long hours, leaving Levi and Piet to try and figure themselves out. With no other choice, Piet was packed up into the baby carrier and went into work with dad. Levi took him to Hogsmeade where he worked, almost crying with joy (and a little worry) when Piet happily chirped about seeing the castle. Thankfully his boss was cool with a toddler running around, even giving him cardboard and crayons to make his own little restaurant.

Going back home, Martha was surprised to find out that Piet had gone to work. The boy told tale of seeing the castle and magic whirling around, which the woman immediately dismissed as his imagination..... only to be surprised when Levi confessed it was truth. He explained his magic, noting that he was certain their son had inherited the ability. What he hadn't been expecting was the look of shock on Martha's face. While she was startled by the magic, she was angry he'd hidden himself for so, so long. It brought the two into a huge argument, with Levi trying to explain he was worried she wouldn't understand, yet Martha being mad that he didn't trust her. It was several days, all trying to remain happy in front of Piet, who seemed withdrawn, and Levi trying to take Piet with him anytime he left.

One morning, he went home to find Martha's copy of their apartment key on the counter, along with a note saying she just couldn't handle it anymore. Levi was heartbroken, sunk into a depression, when he turned to the only thing he could think of to numb the pain - alcohol. He still tried his best for Piet, but one day he realized he hadn't seen his son smile in what felt like years. It was then he knew he needed help. He packed up all of Piet's clothes and toys, then turned him over to MCPS. He cried so hard that day, but vowed he'd see his son again. Following that, Levi went to check himself into an intensive rehab program to get himself cleaned up, if only for his son's honor.

Piet, unfortunately, was turned over to Wool's orphanage for care. He was very sad, but with some love (and a little bit of therapy) he quickly found his stride. It was a lot of fun to build play areas and play with the other kids, finally feeling like he had siblings... to some degree. It was very strange, but it felt somewhat like home.
