Evren didn't often go out at night. Not because he was afraid, or because he couldn't defend himself, but because he simply could not be ******** bothered with the reality of having to defend himself. Things happened more often at night, that was no question' during the day, the world was simply safer, and he preferred not needing to deal with the underbelly of the city unless he absolutely had to. Of course, he had his connections with it, one didn't walk away from a life with the mafia without the ability to cultivate new connections to protect oneself. But that didn't make it any less tedious or annoying to have to remind people of it. He preferred his stealthier approach, anyway.

Unfortunately, some nights, it was simply unavoidable. He desperately needed to go to one of the 24/7 convenience stores nearby for some easy dinner—he'd gone too many nights without when he was younger to allow himself to go without again now, and as much as he felt disquieted by the idea of going out at night, feeding himself was more important. Besides, it might have been a quiet night. Truth be told, Tuesdays usually were, even in the crime world.

On his way back (so far so good), he nearly ran into a very handsome man that seemed to appear from nowhere, which almost pissed Evren off, because normally he was excellent at spotting people long before such a moment.

"Pardon me," he said brusquely, frowning at the guy, even as part of him was intrigued by the man's gorgeous appearance. Probably not worth it.

Passing through the city in full Negaverse regalia was not typically an inconvenience Axinite found himself navigating, but once upon a time he’d been quite proficient with stealthy operations. He knew how to stick to the shadows, how to avoid detection.

His energy signature was only that of a General–far less demanding than that of a General-Sovereign, but only because he wasn’t looking for combat.

Just, looking.

Of course, in his haste he’d gotten sloppy–stupid, that sort of thing gets you killed–and teleported too close to a civilian.

They’d had no energy signature so their presence hadn’t registered until Axinite was nearly on top of them.

“No, the intrusion was mine. I apologize,” Axinite said, taking only a single step back.

He’d been tracing the footsteps of a youma long since dealt with, but the items it had been carrying had still dropped–somewhere. Here, nearby.

Axinite looked the man over and figured any eyes were better than none, though he’d rather have done this alone and without interference. He could always just drain his energy into unconsciousness if need be. There was no threat here.

“I don’t suppose you’ve had the fortune to find a decorative box somewhere around here, have you?” he asked, thinking it better not to describe the ancient reliquary in more detail than necessary. An easy lie fell from his lips, “My daughter’s just lost it and is in tears. I can’t go home without it and I’m afraid I’m really at wit’s end about it all.”

"Decorative box? I'm afraid I haven't seen anything other than the usual litter," Evren said, frowning slightly in thought. He wasn't usually altruistic and he wanted to get home, but... Something about this man exuded power. It couldn't hurt to look kind and helpful to someone like that. One never knew where one would find an ally, after all.

"I can help look. What is the size I'm looking for? Its main color?" he asked, already casting his eyes about in the alleyways in case something did jump out at him as unusual and not garbage.

Axinite hid the disappointment effortlessly, but as he opened his mouth to speak, a can rattle drew his attention.

The cat who came bolting from the shadows might have been startling–not to him–and he might not have thought it much mind.

If not for the star on its forehead.

The cat froze–stared at him, stared at the man in front of him, and then back to him.

And then, it ran off again.

Axinite was no stranger to this Mauvian. On more than one occasion had they exchanged silent looks.

He knew what that one meant.

Immediately, Axinite’s posture relaxed.

He might have lost the reliquary–for now–but he’d found a Senshi, undoubtedly.

“I appreciate the offer,” Axinite said, and he really did mean it. He wasn’t going to leave without the box.

Or the Senshi.

“It’s mahogany. It has a very deep stain. You’d know if it you saw it. It doesn’t look like litter at all.” He peered down one alleyway, but still–nothing.

So he made his move.

“I suppose you see strange things around here all the time. Did you happen to see a strange looking creature a moment ago? …Or anyone else in a strange costume? There’s quite a bit running around. And if you find the wrong one,” he shrugged. “It’s very dangerous to be out here, especially this time of night. Aren’t you afraid of running into trouble?”
