Quote:
Starfish Scares (13) : Starfish live in the sea. They do not live in freshwater rivers, lakes, or reservoirs with no connection to the ocean. Starfish are also not social creatures. And yet, here they are–in hoards. They can be found near any water source–and far from it. These starfish seem to be a unique species that are eager to travel and don’t seem quite bound to water, though they will seek it out. The starfish will latch onto just about anything they can to hitch a ride, even though they’re fast. They secrete an itchy, oozy slime after they’ve latched onto something, and though it seems as though they can absorb nutrients from any living creature, these starfish have an odd penchant for blood. You might as well have a colorful leech stuck to you as soon as you think one of these things crawling your way. Their bites are sharp and will leave the nearby skin itchy and painful. They are a bit difficult to remove but they can be killed; as soon as they have perished, they will rapidly dry out and crumble. However, it’s far more likely that they’ll escape before you can get your hands on them. Be vigilant; these things are pests–and smart enough to cling to people and vehicles alike if it means getting to where they want to go.

This powered thing was new still, and while he was still unsure over things, it was nice to have a bit more secrecy where he could look around things without people knowing who he was. It was also nice being stronger and being able to move with a bit more pep in his step.

Tonight, he and Kaisariani were supposed to head over to the reservoir to have dinner after work. With his camera tucked into subspace, he was excited for the photos he could potentially take of the peaceful water. With it being late, he knew it would be closed to the public, but it wasn't like anyone could figure out who they were like this. It helped him be a bit less hesitant when it came to leaving his usual haunts.

All the flowers and things that came with being Schwetzingen felt fitting, at least for him, but it was nice to know that he had someone else who knew about this since they'd both gotten powers at the same time.

Looking over at Angel, as Kaisariani, he offered a smile as they got closer to the reservoir. "Are you going to work on any sketches or art? I might take some photos. It's nice and quiet out tonight, I'm glad it's not too hot either."

Never in his most wild dreams did Angel ever think he would be some sort of super hero. But one moment he was flirting in a flower shop and the next, bam. Magical freaking powers. Being Kaisariani, Page of Ida, was a wild experience, but he wouldn't trade it for anything, he found. Especially not when it brought him closer to the cute boy he had been talking to in the first place.

Walking side by side with Schwetingen, Kaisariani gave him a warm smile. "I did actually stash some art supplies in my subspace. That has been incredibly useful for me, you know. Not having to lug a bag of art supplies around." He lightly bumped against the smaller man playfully. "Would you be up to being my art subject for the night? The water would make a gorgeous backdrop for what I've got in mind to work on..." He would never turn down a chance to have Florian as his model rather than drawing him from memory, always finding having an actual reference in front of him to be much better.

Schwetzingen nearly missed a step as they bumped into him, causing him to reach out for the other as his face colored with embarrassment. He was still getting used to how blunt the other was, and it left him with his face matching his hair more often than not.

"I think so, I don't have to worry about the rain getting to my yarn or camera." Trying to move back to the previous subject just for a section before he noticed how nice the sand and water looked ahead of them. Once he stepped onto it, he shuffled until he got his boots off and smiled as he stepped barefoot into the sand.

"Okay, so we can both enjoy this." Sneaking out his camera quickly, he snapped a photo before the other could react and then started to sprint off closer to the water.

Kaisariani reacted quickly, hand reaching out to catch Schwetzingen's arm gently and steady him on his feet with a warm smile. "Careful. As much as I'd love to be able to make a joke about you falling for me, I really don't want to see you eat sand." His eyes sparkled with mischief at the joke, unable to help himself. "Mm I can see how that would definitely be useful. Neither of thoser things mix well with rain."

He offered his hand to help steady him as he removed his boots. Before he could say anything else, however, he found his photo being taken. "Hey! No fair, taking a photo when I'm not ready!" He laughed and shook his head, quickly yanking his own boots off before running after him. It wasn't overly hard for Kaisariani to catch up with him with how much longer his legs were, and he snaked an arm around Schwetzingen's waist to pull him back against him. "Gotcha." God. He was so close. Kaisariani could feel the warmth from his body against his, his cheek against the side of his head. The little voice in the back of his head responsible for bad impulsive decisions whispered that it would be oh so easy to kiss him, but he pushed the thought down for now.

The helping hand was appreciated, and once he was settled, he stuck his tongue out slightly after looking down at the candid photo he'd taken. "What? I think surprise photos show a good side of people when they're not ready." It left things a bit truer than when people tried to ready themselves in whatever way they thought was the "best" way.

"Ah!" Jumping slightly at being pulled back, Schwetzingen was at least glad that the arm was around his waist. It was still a topic he hadn't brought up yet, even though Kaisariani had been getting more comfortable with being close or clingy. It wasn't half bad, even if he wasn't exactly sure about things yet, but right now he wiggled slightly to pull his camera back up as he noticed something moving in the water and up the beach.

"Oh! I didn't know there were starfish here, look!" Even if it was a bit difficult to get a good angle with his camera, he wasn't going to break their hold just yet.

Kaisariani chuckled and peered down at the photo, smiling warmly. If it was him taking it, he supposed he didn't mind getting photographed while off guard. He rested his chin on his shoulder, enjoying the closeness he was being allowed.

Loosening his arm to allow Schwetzingen to retrieve his camera, Kaisariani frowned as he pointed out the starfish. "Starfish are.... Usually saltwater creatures, right?" He frowned deeper as he peered at the colorful critter, stomach sinking. Oh. He had seen these before. "s**t. Don't touch them and don't let them get on you." As he spoke, he pulled Schwetz back closer against him protectively. These looked like the same things he encountered with Blarney, and if they were, he absolutely was not eager for round two.

"I... I think there are some freshwater ones, at least my father talked about them while on a trip abroad." Which was why he felt fine reaching down for one before Kaisariani pulled him back.

The thing came with him, sticking to his sleeve and crawling up it. Only now he noticed it was actually chewing through the fabric as it went. "Oh! Uh oh.." Flailing slightly as he backed into them, he yelped as another one started to chew on his foot.

He tried to kick another away, shocked that it seemed to just turn to dust when he did kick it. But it didn't feel like that thing that had attacked his shop or the gross chicken thing either.

Kaisariani groaned as he watched Schwetzingen reach for the nasty little creature. When it clung to his sleeve, he reached for it without thinking and yanked it off, flicking his hand to try and dislodge it from his palm where it had reattached.

"I ran into some of these the other day with another guy like us. Blarney I think he called himself. These bastards bite, and it's not pleasant." He winced as he bit the last word out, having felt the little monster bite into his palm. "Oh well that's just rude." He frowned and brought his hand down hard into his knee, slamming the creature into it and sighing as it dissolved into dust. He rubbed his palm against his shirt, trying to ignore the intense discomfort of the itching sensation. "Squish whatever ones you can and be careful not to let them attach to you."

Well, this wasn't good, especially as more of them were coming from the water and they were actually biting holes in his uniform. So when the advice to squash them came up, he nodded and focused on that while scooting back into Kaisariani and trying to move back away from the reservoir.

"Maybe... we should come back another time. Also Blarney? Is he Irish or... is that Scottish? My parents brought me out there a few times over the summer." Trying to get his mind off the things as he smashed a few more, he really didn't like the things or how they felt without his boots on.

At least he was getting further away from the water, and the things seemed to have some trouble with that, getting slower the farther from water they got.

"My boots will just come back, so I think we can leave them there, just... might need to keep off gravel." Not that he would even give the other the remote idea that carrying him was an option, but it wouldn't be the first time a larger person or family member at the beach had hauled him off.

"Not a clue. He seemed young though." He squished another "star fish" and shuddered. ".....don't hate me for this, but I'm going to grab you and carry you, alright?" Anyone with eyes could see the large difference in height between them, and to Kaisariani, it made sense that he could move faster if he was carrying the smaller boy rather than waiting for him to catch up.

Giving him an apologetic smile and a quick muttered "sorry", Kaisariani scooped Schwetzingen up, holding him with one arm while he quickly made his way up and away from the water, stomping firmly on any of the nasty little creatures he saw on the way. He refused to think about just how close Schwetzengin was to his face, or how nice he smelled. Nope. The only priority was getting them both to safety. Once he was sure they were safe, he gently set him down and gave him a small, apologetic smile. "You okay?"
