Quote: The Monster Under the Bed (2) : There’s a faint scratching under your bed. Maybe you’ve heard it in the nights leading up to now, or maybe it’s just started, but the scurrying noise is starting to drive you mad. What is it? A bug? A creature? Your imagination? If you try to ignore the noise, it grows louder and louder and louder, until it’s practically all you can hear. You can try to ignore it but sleep is impossible. If you’re hoping to get any rest, you’re going to have to investigate–but you’re not going to like what you find. A flashlight under the bed yields nothingness–a darkness so deep that it seems to swallow up all light. The noise is worse but you can’t see anything. But you’re already in its trap. If you try to reach into the darkness, something grabs your wrist; if you try to walk away, your ankle. Its grip is icy and sharp, like being grabbed by knives, and it pulls. No matter how hard you fight against it, it’s stronger–and it drags you into the darkness. You fall, for what feels like an eternity–and then you jerk awake, violently. Maybe it was just a bad dream. But it doesn’t explain the fading red marks from where it grabbed you. When you look again, it’s just your bed–but you have the distinct feeling that something is missing. Saskia sat cross-legged on her bed, headphones snug over her ears, eyes glued to the screen of her Nintendo Switch. Her fingers danced across the buttons as she guided Luigi through the dimly lit corridors of Luigi’s Mansion 3, catching every creak, shadow, and whisper in the haunted hotel.
“Okay, chat,” she said, leaning closer to the camera, “don’t freak out, but this floor is seriously creepy. Totally fine though—no way I’m scared. You guys scared? Yeah, I didn’t think so.”
Her viewers filled the chat with laughing emojis, memes, and dares: Peek under the bed! Don’t look! Don’t look! I’m watching you, Saskia!
She grinned, forcing herself to laugh even though her stomach fluttered nervously and her hands felt a little shaky. Okay, stay calm, Saskia, she thought, trying to push down the tiny prickling of fear crawling up her spine. It was weird but she felt something off and it wasn't from the game.“Relax, guys,” she said, her voice teasing but a little higher-pitched than usual, betraying her excitement. “It’s just a game. Totally under control. I’ve got this.”
As Luigi crept through a hallway filled with flickering lights and mysterious shadows, a faint scratching sound made her pause. Her chest tightened, a shiver running down her arms. Her heart picked up speed. While she may not be in her Senshi form, something was setting her off… this may not be a game anymore. She tilted her head, ears straining. “Huh… weird,” she muttered, heart picking up speed.
The sound came again—soft, quick, deliberate. Her stomach churned in a mix of nerves and curiosity. She laughed, though it came out shaky. “Okay, okay, chat. This is definitely just part of the game… right?” She reached over and paused her stream for a second, checking her room, but her instincts were prickling—tiny hairs on the back of her neck standing on end. Something felt off. Too quiet… too deliberate…
Something moved in the shadows underneath.
But the scratching didn’t stop. It grew louder, sharper, like nails dragging across wood. Her pulse spiked. Goosebumps rose along her arms. She glanced toward the foot of her bed—and froze.

Something moved in the shadows underneath. Her senses tingled, and an unexplainable awareness stirred inside her. No… this isn’t just a game. I can feel it.
She forced a calm laugh and turned back to the camera. “Okay, chat, quick snack break!” she said, holding up a bag of chips. “Gotta keep my energy up for the next level, right?”
Her fingers fidgeted slightly as she set the bag down. Snack break my foot… She glanced at the foot of her bed, heart pounding. In reality, she was creeping closer, flashlight in hand, determined to see what was hiding in the shadows. “Don’t worry,” she whispered to herself, “I’ll be right back. This is… important.”
Saskia crouched low, keeping the flashlight tight in her grip. Her heart was racing, but she forced her face into a calm, playful grin for the camera. “Snack break extended, chat!” she whispered, her voice light, hiding the nervous flutter in her stomach. “Just grabbing some—uh, chips… totally normal, right?”
As she edged closer to the shadows under her bed, the scratching grew louder again—soft, deliberate, almost teasing. Goosebumps prickled her arms, and a shiver ran down her spine. Senshi instincts… alert. Even as the Senshi of Strawberries, I can feel something’s off. This isn’t just shadows…She glanced at her viewers’ reactions—laughing emojis, dares, and wide-eyed comments flashing across the screen. If they knew what was really happening… they’d freak. Then again if half the people in town knew there were magical kids out there they would probably freak about that too.
Slowly, she knelt down and leaned closer. The beam of her flashlight swept across the floor. Nothing. Just… dark, empty space. And then—faint movement. A ripple in the darkness, like a shadow breathing.
Her pulse spiked. She swallowed hard, trying to steady herself. “Okay… okay… let’s see who’s here,” she whispered, not taking her eyes off the movement. She extended a hand, fingers trembling slightly. If this is a monster, I’ll know. And if it’s not… well, curiosity wins again.
As she watched for movement. The scratching turned into a soft tap—tap, tap, tap—against the floorboards under the bed. Saskia’s stomach flipped, part fear, part excitement. This is it… my Senshi instincts are right or maybe not? Part of her wondered if sometimes she psyched herself out and maybe this was one of those times. She quickly shook her head, and went back to the task at hand. Her thoughts were not half as important as finding whatever was making the noises under her bed.
She slid one arm under the bed, flashlight clutched in the other, feeling the cold, empty space stretch before her. Then—something icy brushed her wrist. She yelped softly, heart pounding, and pulled back. Her viewers didn’t see her flinch—they just saw her grin, laughing nervously. “Whoa! Totally just… dust… yeah, dust,” she said, voice high with forced excitement. No, this is real. Something is here.
Her breath came in shallow bursts, but her curiosity wouldn’t let her stop. Inch by inch, she edged forward, listening to the rhythm of the scratches. Every instinct she had as a chibi sailor stirred inside her, warning her, guiding her. And then, as her fingers brushed the soft glow of something small and metallic, her stomach dropped. The silver star charm.
Her eyes widened, and a shiver ran down her spine. I told myself it was just a game… but this—this is real.
She grabbed it carefully, holding it up to the flashlight. The glow from the charm shimmered faintly, pulsing in rhythm with her heartbeat, almost like a strawberry-scented warmth radiating in her hand. “Found it… chat,” she whispered, trying to keep her voice steady. “Totally normal, totally fine. Nothing scary here.”
But deep down, her Senshi instincts screamed—this was only the beginning. Something was stirring, and it wasn’t done with her yet.
Her fingers brushed the soft glow of the silver star charm, and a sudden cold wrapped around her ankle like icy knives. She yelped, heart lurching, and tried to pull back—but the grip was impossibly strong, sharp enough to make her wince in pain. Her pulse thundered in her ears as panic surged through her, adrenaline making her hands shake.
No… not again… she thought, instinctively trying to kick free, but the icy force only tightened, tugging at her like it wanted to drag her into the shadows themselves. A shiver ran down her spine, her Senshi instincts flaring. This isn’t just a game… it’s real. Stay calm, Saskia… think!
Her vision blurred as she felt herself pulled backward, tumbling into darkness. The world spun around her, stretching and twisting with every heartbeat. Her scream caught in her throat as the shadows enveloped her completely, stretching into what felt like an eternity of falling.
And then—She jerked awake.

Her blanket was tangled around her legs, her heart hammering so hard it felt like it might burst. Sweat dripped down her forehead, and her hands trembled as she rubbed her wrist and ankle. Red marks were already fading into her skin, pale reminders of the icy grip that had held her so tightly.
Her eyes drifted to the floor beside her bed—and froze.
The silver star charm was gone.
Saskia’s stomach dropped. It can’t be… this isn’t over. Goosebumps prickled her arms, and the faint, lingering chill from the grip made her shiver. Her Senshi instincts hummed faintly in her chest, a whisper of warning and power. Something was missing… and she could feel it pulsing, calling her, like it had taken a part of her world with it. She held her breath, straining her ears—but there were no noises, no scratching, no movement. Just silence.
Taking a deep breath, she shook off the lingering fear and turned back to her camera. “Okay, chat… false alarm,” she said with a small, nervous laugh. “Nothing creepy under the bed. Totally fine. Let’s get back to the game, yeah?”
Her fingers returned to the buttons, her pulse slowly calming as the familiar glow of the screen filled the room. The chat buzzed with laughing emojis and playful dares, and Saskia couldn’t help but smile.
With the shadows gone and the room quiet, she leaned back on her bed, focusing once more on her game—her stream alive and her nerves finally settling.
The mystery of the charm would wait for another day. For now, it was just another night of gaming…
