At first the flyer was just an anomaly, a forgotten little piece of faded paper halfway hidden behind all the others on the bulletin board at the school library. He must have walked past it hundreds of times since the semester started but it was the first time he noticed the very clear outline of Nessie printed on it. A quick glance at the info revealed it was reaching out to all who believed that there were things that no one could really explain nor find with their current technology. With a tag like 'There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy' it was pretty clear it was for those who believed in the unseen. It was an off campus meeting at one of the larger libraries in the city, if his info was right that is, so it wasn't limited to just students. The time frame was also perfect for his own schedule. It was right up his alley and yet DM still hesitated. He was just some nobody from 'a state flatter then a plate' as his little sister liked to joke. He probably wouldn't be welcome at such a prestigious meeting. With the self-deprecating thoughts whispering to him all DM did was reposition the poster so it wasn't hidden beneath some dog walking poster. By the time the young man encountered his fifth flyer, this one at a cafe off campus, he knew it was the universe telling him something. He needed to go to this meeting, regardless of how out of place he might be. That is what brought him to the library just shy of the indicated time, his GPS was on the fritz apparently so he had to go old-school in navigating to the library. A quick glance at the flyer picture on his phone gave him the study room number, and after a moment to orient himself, DM was off. At the door to the room he could here muffled chatter, he at least wouldn't be alone at this meeting... again. With a knock he opened the door and poked his head in. "Is this the 'Unsolved Mysteries' meeting?" Quote: If anyone can come up with a better name just let me know >.<'

Willow had as usual her bag with all her equipment toting it around. It was sitting on the table beside her. She'd heard about the group meet up through a flyer on the store she frequented for crystals and tarot decks.
There was a stretch as she grinned. She was always down for a good paranormal club, some seemed to last longer than others and she hoped this one lasted a bit.
She was sitting on a table, with one leg crossed over the other. Looking fairly comfortable as she'd been there waiting for a little while. Note book in one hand jotting down notes or ideas. When someone poked their head in and asked if this was the unsolved mysteries meeting. Her attention turned to them from what was already going on in the room. "Why yes it is, come on in~!"
She leaned one one arm looking at the new comer, "Looking for the thrill of solving unsolved mysteries that might be decades old? Or do you have a mystery that needs to be solved?"
Willow was a big buff of horror, occult and the paranormal. Even having her own channel on the topic. Her excitement over the topics was probably evident in the way she asked the questions.
"Bonus points for any paranormal activity too. My viewers love the content."

Ronan had tried to disregard the flyers, he really had. He knew very well that it was going to be a room full of conspiracy theorists, Bigfoot hunters, flat-earthers, and who knows what else. Still, at the end of his shift he found himself standing in front of the door to the meeting room debating whether or not he was actually going to indulge the ridiculous notion that had lodged itself in his mind.
“This is stupid. You know it’s stupid.”
The young man’s hand slid into his pocket, feeling for the pad of sticky notes that lived there before running his thumb along their edges, bringing forth the satisfying whir that reminded him of a flipbook. OK, maybe leaving a judgmental note on the door was a bad idea. With a soft grumble he pushed it open and walked inside, managing a grimacing smile and small wave at the two people already within before dropping into a seat far enough away from the door that any newcomers wouldn’t be walking right past him.
They didn’t look like the sort who would know about the thing he had seen or people like the woman who had destroyed it. Still, he knew that looks could be deceiving, maybe he’d be pleasantly surprised.

Addy glanced down at the photo of the flyer she had taken on her phone, checking the location for the umpteenth time. Part of her felt like maybe it was a trap of some sort or another trick like with the dice. If she went, would she find herself on some ghost filled board once again, doomed to play haunted parcheesi for the amusement of some unseen force?
What were the odds of that happening three times in one month?
Suddenly, she found herself hoping whatever entity was causing all these strange things to happen had never seen Squid Games.
Arriving at the door, Addy listened for a moment, hand hovering over the door knob. This was probably just some gimmick for the season put on by the library...but what did she have to lose besides an afternoon? She was always able to leave if it turned out to be fake and if it was legit, maybe she could find a lead on her aunt's passing.
The door slid open easily and she scanned the room for a moment with a genuine smile and a wave of her hand before she reached up to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear. Dangling on a short chain from each lobe was a di made of fossilized wood that seemed to glow slightly as it swung back and forth with every step. The dice from the cursed game board.
Despite her best instincts, she couldn't make herself throw them into the fire. They were rather pretty, and besides, what if anyone here had played it? They might recognize the object of their torture and come to her with information or a story of their own. It could very well help weed the people with real experiences from the people that were here to talk about orbs (dust) in photos and how they think aliens were stealing their semen to create a super weapon.
Addy scooted over to the other side of the room and sat down near a man with long, black hair.
"Hey everyone! I'm Addy. This is the spooky mystery meeting, right? Not trying to invade a book club or something," she introduced herself with an easy laugh.

DM practically blushed when a female beckoned him in, which he did so only to stare wide-eyed at the whiteboard covered in photos and printouts. He wasn't sure what they were covering that night but apparently whoever ran this meeting sure had their documents in order. Were they going to cover Mothman? Bigfoot? The Skunk Ape of Florida? Or was it something more local? Maybe the ghosts that seem to pop up around now or the creatures that some people swear attack them? Or something completely different? He had no idea but he was absolutely here for it! "Hum? Oh, uh, mostly the first thing." DM pulled his attention away from the whiteboard to look at the young woman who was talking to him. He had his own mysteries to solve as well but that was a personal mission of his and he wasn't ready to share just yet. "You?" The young man shrugged off his coat, reveling his X-Files t-shirt, and settled into one of the open chairs just as another person joined them. They seemed even less social then he was, since they settled separately from them. It didn't stop DM from nodding a greeting. "Viewers?" He was about to ask just what the lady meant when she mentioned viewers when another person opened the door to the study room and joined them. She also introduced herself, reminding him that he hadn't done that. "Um, I was told this is the right spot," He shrugged slightly before readjusting his glasses and introducing himself as well, "I'm Dwayne but everyone just calls me DM or Wayne. Which ever works." The young man glanced over at the board and asked absently, "So what do you think all the research is about?" He wasn't entirely sure if they could get up and check out what was already taped in place but he really wanted too. He wanted to see just what mystery would they be covering that night!

Riku knew there was magic in Destiny City. It was hard not to know, when one's sibling and favorite cousin told one that it existed and that because of it, they would have to become brand new people.
This knowledge was...complicated, ultimately. Riku didn't love knowing all this and not being able to do anything about it. And in reality, it hadn't at all diminished his eternal interest in all kinds of Generalized Spooky s**t. Magical girls being real did not imply anything one way or the other about the existence of regular
So here he was, at the library in a cute cardigan with a black cat sitting by a pumpkin on it (and an equally adorable black tee with an autumnal ghost chorus underneath, should it be warm enough to take off the cardigan), a black-and-orange plaid skirt over black leggings, and his cutest combat boots to see what exactly the fuss was with a meeting about people interested in similar.
At least he definitely wasn't alone. There were already a few people there, and he slid into the room with a smile and a little wave.
"Hi. Hope I'm not too late?"

Willow grinned as more people joined, this looked like it might be a good club. She was excited to see so many new faces to a meeting like this. There was a wave hello to Ronan when he walked in even though he seemed a bit stand offish.
She also beamed at Addy, which reminded her she hadn't introduced herself before just bombarding someone with questions, "Ah, I'm Willow. And yes this is the place~!"
When DM asked about viewers Willow had a feeling she already knew the question - she got it a lot. "Nice to meet you Addy and DM~!"
"Um as far as viewers go, I try to go into haunted places or places with a lot of paranormal or supernatural activity and prove or disprove it's actually a real thing, I aim more for trying to disprove because a lot of things can be explained but then there's the truly weird and unusual things that can't be explained..."
There was a pause when he asked about the board that was set up, "Mm... not sure, maybe there's clues on the board?"
Willow also gave a wave to Riku when he entered. "I don't think you're late at all~"

Ronan managed to keep a neutral face as somebody sat near him and felt a degree of pride in that fact. Raising his eyes he scanned the room, staring intently at the images on the whiteboard. He didn’t see anything that looked like what he’d seen, nothing like the thing that had tried to eat him. OK, maybe he wasn’t entirely sure that it wanted to eat him, but it definitely wanted to kill him. Downright rude, if you asked him.
He scowled slightly at the memory. Even if someone had come along to remove the thing, it had spent longer than he would have liked asphyxiating him. Still, he should probably introduce himself.
“Ronan.” He offered another slightly awkward wave before returning his gaze to the whiteboard.

Addy strummed her fingers along the tabletop idly as people spoke, listening but still a little fidgety. Her mind wasn't entirely made up that this wasn't a waste of time, but she tried to remind herself that fun was also worth it and not every moment had to be intense investigation. These people all had shared interests and maybe she could just...make friends like a normal person...with someone that wasn't literally a space alien that lost fights to ducks. Fingers paused midair, she looked around in contemplation. What was odd was that no one seemed to know what was posted on the board. That would suggest none of them had arranged this little get together. It felt bizarre that whoever was in charge wouldn't be here first...unless that was part of the gimmick. Hm. Maybe they would make a big, dramatic entrance soon. "Come on in," she replied to Riku with a smile, taking in his outfit for a moment, "I LOVE the sweater." As she spoke, she stood and scooted around the room, making her way over to the board, no longer able to contain her curiosity. "Wait so, none of you are running this thing? Was there anyone here earlier that stepped out or something?" Looking through the board, she saw mention of the reservoir cryptid, a photo of what she assumed was a shadow person, some black eyed children, but nothing that looked quite like the creature she'd seen in the park and certainly nothing like the Civil War reject she'd encountered in that alley that had apparently drained her energy. Man. She really should have bear maced him. "Is this supposed to be our first mystery, then?" she asked the room with a little chuckle. If that was the case, it was actually kind of cute.

DM practically lit up when Willow explained what she was doing, "That is a fantastic idea! I mean, they say that in order to prove that ghosts are real you need to make sure there is no way its something like a breeze or psychosomatic or anything else that could be scientifically explained. 'Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic' after all. The same could be said for ghosts or aliens but we all know they are real! We just haven't proved it yet. I mean even the government researched it, project blue book might have ended in like 1970 or so but that doesn't mean they actually stopped researching." He was a fan of all things cryptozoological but aliens were definitely his special interest. He could have continued to talk about it all even as Addy made her way over to the white board to see what was already posted. The young man was going to ask if anyone had seen any unidentified flying objects lately so he could cross refrecne what he had found on the web when the room door was pushed open by someone backing into the room. The person was muttering to themselves even as they turned around and looked at the small crowd with a rather surprised look on their face. "Oh.... I honestly wasn't expecting anyone to show up again. Welcome!" The woman with messy hair and a rumpled sweater greeted everyone before dumping her arm full of pictures on the nearest flat surface. "I'm Nancy P. Carter and yes I have heard all the jokes so please save your humor for another day. Since we have such a crowd tonight you all can help me chase down a new mystery in this lovely city of ours. Typically I work in here alone or with one rando who wanders in occasionally but since I have such a robust group," DM wasn't really sure that six people including himself counted as 'robust' but what did he know, " Tonight we shall," Nancy continued. She stepped up to the board and said, 'Excuse me dear,' to Addy before slapping a large picture on the board of a grainy photo, "Explore this mystery!". A duck.... with pants? except the proportions were all wrong. The duck looked huge compared to the background. "Is this duck a case of the infamous Nessy photo that they were able to prove was a fake or is it real? And if its real how???? And who gave the duck those pants? Why? Could it be an alien duck? Do aliens eat duck? Are aliens ducks and not humanoid like it has always been reported? Have any of you seen this duck?" Nancy, don't call her NPC, queried the room. ((Spoiler has quotes for everyone, including myself if you all want to use))

At the entrance of the new woman, Addy paused her rifling through the papers to listen. Scooting back at Nancy's request, she almost ugly laughed right then and there. She choked it back and turned it into a throat clear before looking around the room to take in people's reactions. "Nancy, I hate to say it, but I don't think that duck is supernatural," she responded gently, pulling out her phone and going through her gallery, flipping through selfies, photos of her work from the salon, and the occasional photo of her new drinking buddy. Pulling up the video, she turned the volume up and held it in such a way she hoped the whole room could see. "I actually shot that video. The duck stole the pants from a...uh...cosplayer in the park. Watch." “Son of a ********. Really?" screamed the recording of Bacchus as the duck began its onslaught. "I know it sounds dumb, but I was thinking maybe it was a service animal trained to help someone remove clothes that just...got lost. It seemed so determined," she commented as Bacchus fought for his life. Despite how many times she had watched the video, she didn't seem to notice the duck growing in size every so often, or the shift of its face. (Link to the RP of what they are watching here.)

Willow was watching the video that was being showed and looked curiously at it. "Yeah no that's a relatively new species of duck if anything."
Though Willow was wondering if it was youma. Which wasn't paranormal at all, just annoying. "I'm sure the zoo I volunteer at would be interested in this sort of species though."
She looked at Nancy -- "Are we going for Cryptiods too or Spectral type of paranormal?" It was curious since Nancy was curious about the duck, "I mean I suppose it could be a cryptids duck instead of like some sort of new variation of an Irish giant duck."
