Something had changed, giving Feronia a tiny bit more assurance of things. With a little more power thanks to a certain feline friend of Antisana, he walked out into the forest surrounding the cabin before venturing further and further towards the more populated areas of the city.

He hadn't seen Arakahn in a while, but he did wonder if he might find them again. So while he wandered, he tried finding his way to the food truck or near the street where he'd first ended up here. With all the different feelings in the area, some that apparently were something called chaos, he tried to think what the other had felt like. But with how everything was still new and confusing when it came to what was going on in this city and on this planet, he couldn't exactly be sure.

Remembering what they'd said, though, he did keep a bit of ribbon to try and hide his ears some more. With the leafy decoration of his fuku, his tail was at least sort of hidden. It was better than when he'd first made it here, even if he wasn't sure that his appearance was particularly offensive after he'd spoken with Maus and a few others. There were others here like him, yet they ran around without blending in. It confused him because he'd gotten the feeling that he should at least partially conform to the expectations here based on his first meeting.

Shaking his head a bit, he looked ahead and saw something that sparkled slightly on the ground. That and he thought something felt familiar but he couldn't quite place it yet.

They didn’t patrol together every night. Rakovanite didn’t necessarily prefer to be alone… but he did occasionally prefer to not be with Devour, specifically. Patrolling with his personal Youma was not so different than walking an ill-mannered dog on a leash: lots of tugging and excitement and energy, when Rakovanite could’ve been just as happy to get by without all of that. A quiet night wasn’t a waste, could even be beneficial.

There were no quiet nights with Devour.

If there was prey near, she would seek it vehemently, and Rakovanite found it too troublesome to get in the way of that. He didn’t really… care what happened to most civilians who found themselves in Devour’s path, so long as it wasn’t a situation that could be turned against him. She was a creature designed to hunt, and he thought it would be cruel of him to expect her to stray from her instincts. If she wanted to chase whatever unpowered starseed caught her attention, fine. She was rarely so much of a hindrance as to be a danger to him.

But tonight, there was nearly nothing. Nearly. Devour scuttled between the shadows not unlike a roach. She kept her glow dim while she was on the move, flashing only intermittently as if she thought there was something nearby she could snare. But the chill of the night must’ve kept most things away. There was no prey. No enemies.

She didn’t- couldn’t- vocalize any of her complaints, but Rakovanite sensed her agitation well enough. He couldn’t read her mind, and she couldn’t inject thought into him, but perhaps it was some combination of her hallucinogenic glow and their bond that helped him understand:

’No people. No one here. Nothing to devour. Not fair not fair notfairnotfair.’

Rakovanite’s answering hum was soft and indulgent. “Pitiful thing.”

She scowled at him, all pointed teeth on display, lights flickering and fluttering, while dozens of legs clattered in rhythmic agitation. He sensed the mockery in her movements- ’Pitiful thing. You. Waste of time. Nothing to show for it.’

He huffed, shrugged dismissively. Just because he had nothing in hand didn’t mean it was a waste of time. Rakovanite appreciated his daily exercise. It didn’t need to involve combat-

’QUIET.’ This sensation she did intentionally slam at him, though he’d barely been making a sound at all. Devour scuttled nearer to him, then a bit farther, their bond thrumming with some sort of excited expectation that she was desperate to shove at him. She could feel something near. Enemy. Very edible. Just a sensation of ’want it, want it,’ and Rakovanite couldn’t think of a good reason not to let her.

A roll of his eyes, and Rakovanite waved her on. She scurried ahead eagerly, and he followed at a more contained pace. A Super Senshi. Judging by aura, they seemed alone, but with nothing to go on besides the way they felt, there was no telling what kind of magic they could use. The General could keep his distance while Devour… investigated. She would probably like to investigate with her mouth, but if the enemy was too troublesome for her to manage, Rakovanite could simply leave before he was spotted…

Ah… Or not.

Devour kept put of the Senshi’s sight, and Rakovanite was suitably colored that he definitely would not stand out in the dark of night if someone were to look for him. He couldn’t say the same about Fernoia. Rakovanite would recognize that shock of green hair and bright fuku from a mile away, easily visible from where he stood on a rooftop just above him. …But the Senshi was sure… piddling around a lot for someone who should feel that he was being stalked by a Youma and a General.

What was he reaching for on the ground…?

Rakovanite’s eyesight was, admittedly, subpar. He could barely see more than the glint of something reflected in the light of Devour’s glow as she prowled closer to Feronia, but as soon as he saw it, he had the thought that he didn’t want Devour coming in contact with Feronia- or his new trinket. That world- Rakovanite had escaped it. Everyone he’d spoken to had escaped it. But he didn’t know if a Youma could escape it, didn’t know if he’d be able to summon her back from… wherever that place was if she became ensnared.

He teleported from the rooftop, gaze locked singularly on Feronia’s arm reaching for the die on the ground as Rakovanite’s fingers locked around the stupid Senshi’s wrist. “Do not touch-”

Things happened quickly, far too quickly for Feronia to really understand as Arakahn just appeared and grabbed him. But then, in that same moment, he'd touched the cube and they'd grabbed him; everything shifted and he found himself somewhere completely different alongside his friend.

"Oh! Arakahn!" It came out as a nervous little chirp as he looked at the serious face they seemed to have and how tightly they'd grabbed his arm. Getting to look more at the thing he apparently wasn't supposed to touch, his ears drooped slightly.

"I... I'm sorry, was I not supposed to pick this up?" He asked quietly, his voice tapering off as he took a moment to look around and this new space.

"Where... are we?" He didn't think they'd brought him here; it didn't look like anything he'd seen in the city. The blank floors and surrounding darkness felt isolating, something he wasn't sure he liked exactly.

Space 5:
A dog barks, fierce and frightening. You can hear its growl and the hackles stand up on the back of your neck. You can practically feel spittle on you. It’s close. And it’s big. And it’s angry. If this beastly dog could reach you, no doubt it would try to tear you to shreds.

Literally anytime he did anything, the effort turned out to be worth.

Nothing.

He should stop trying to do things.

The sigh Rakovanite released was harsh. That and the very minute pinch of his brows were the only things that betrayed his annoyance on an otherwise passive expression. "No," he stated shortly. "You should probably not touch anything if you are unsure what it is." But at least in this instance, Rakovanite did know what Feronia held- and spotted its matching companion which he assumed was for himself on the ground at the Senshi's feet.

"I could not tell you with any clarity where we are specifically," He admitted. "Some... alternate dimension, I expect." Not Negaspace, not a Wonder, probably not a Senshi world, although it was hard to say for sure what all boundaries that would encompass. "But not one impossible to escape."

It did occur to him to let Feronia figure it out for himself, since it was his own fault they were here at all. But that would likely be too tedious and time-consuming for Rakovanite's taste. Truly, every second they were together, he wished he'd taken this incapable, troublesome nobody's starseed at their first meeting. And now, if he did that, he might find it difficult to escape this dimension. ...They had to 'take turns,' after all.

"I am sure you had games on your world? This realm is just a very large dice game. Toss that thing," he gestured to the die in Feronia's hand. "And move forward the number of spaces- "Another gesture, to the 'board ahead. "-the die face says. There will be some manner of calamity to contend with one the space, and you just have to weather it until I roll. Be very quick. Try not to loiter. We will be through quickly."

He hoped.

With a weary little slump of his shoulders, Rakovanite stopped to pick up the second die. "...I will demonstrate. Don't keep me waiting." There was a theoretical world where Feronia just decided he didn't want to progress, and Rakovanite was left to deal with whatever he landed on until it killed him.

But he was going to bank on the idea that that wouldn't happen because surely the Senshi's desire to leave would roughly match Rakovanite's...

He threw his die and moved forward, very aware how nothing impeded him until he stopped where he was meant to.

There was a beat of quiet, and then very abruptly, it wasn't. Something snarled nearby, close enough that Rakovanite found himself back on the move. Dogs- he was a rare breed himself in that he hated dogs. Sloppy, stinking, filthy, hyper things. Even the kind he couldn't see were no exception. It barked, something whipped by his elbow like the snap of gnashing teeth.

And there was barely anywhere for him to run to. He couldn't leave until Feronia rolled. "Hurry up," Rakovanite spat, probably the sharpest tone he had ever used with the Senshi.

Space 6:
You hear a shrill, humming noise; it sounds almost like something is firing past you–and sometimes, you even feel a sharp burst of air, like something has just missed you. Maybe, even, it does get a slice out of you. Sharp, bladelike threads seem to string up around you; you’d best be careful not to get cut on any of them between now and your next dice roll.

With the sigh and short response from Arakahn, Feronia's ears drooped as he looked around. Again, he'd misstepped.

"Oh," he mumbled softly. Another dimension? That didn't sound good at all, but if there was a way to get out of it, then it would be best to hurry.

"Games? No... Well, yes, but for others not the Vinemoss." At least an explanation followed, one that he listened to closely as he held the small cube in his hand.

With a look ahead and hearing that something would happen on each square, he wasn't sure he liked this game already. But if they intended to hurry, then maybe it wouldn't be too bad, and he could apologise for pulling his friend into this.

Perking back up after the first dice roll, he watched carefully, and once it seemed like it was his turn, he snapped to it and tossed the dice over the ground. "I am," he shot back and then hurried forward and past the other.

Taking a moment to make sure they looked okay, he felt himself stopped by an invisible force. Maybe this was the right place to be, six squares ahead.

Right when he went to turn back to face the other, something shot past and clipped his right ear. Pulling his hands up, he covered his ears and looked around as he tried to listen for what was going on. Nobody else was here, right?

Space 8:
Something slithers across your foot, so fast that you might have thought you imagined it. Except, a few seconds later, it happens again. And then, again. Snakes keep moving across your space. If you move, they see you–and they might bite. Some of them hiss, some are capable of spraying a poisonous liquid that can cause itchiness or burning.

Feronia scurried by him, and Rakovanite couldn't help but notice how whatever he was trapped with- dogs, he supposed- did not pay the Senshi even a scrap of attention. Fine. They weren't his curse this time around. Something else waited for him, and Rakovanite couldn't pause to ascertain what.

They were only in the same space for a matter of moments, long enough for Feronia to pass through, and that was it. Even if whatever chased the agent couldn't be felt or seen by the other, he should at least be able to tell that something was there, something Rakovanite didn't really want catching him. Rakovanite's tone was mild, despite his continued efforts to not be ripped apart by some invisible animal. "You need to be mindful," he warned. "You could see anything, or nothing." Which was what Rakovanite saw now: nothing. "But it will try to hurt you. Be careful. It would be inconvenient for you to be incapacitated or die."

Probably.

Rakovanite didn't actually know what would happen to him if Feronia couldn't continue, but better to assume the worst and not be surprised if it came to pass. As soon as the Senshi stopped in his tracks, Rakovanite lunged to throw his die so that he could get away, move on to whatever else waited for him.

He moved as quickly as he could; Feronia wouldn't want to be trapped dealing with whatever he had, either, though Rakovanite wasn't sure what it was. Something that had him ducking and scrambling.

Rakovanite pressed on, and he'd barely made it to his space when he felt the pressure of something sinewy slide by his ankle. The ground was dark, barely anything visible- barely anything... There was the faintest glint off of dark scales as they moved around him, and for a sharp instant, Rakovanite actually wasn't sure what to do. He didn't have a great deal of experience with most animals... snakes were something he'd barely even seen.

He shuffled his boot against one, and it whipped around with wild precision and violence, snapping through the dense material of his pants over his shin to lay a strike so quick, Rakovanite didn't even see it happen.

Hearing their warning made Feronia even more nervous; this game was a truly dangerous thing. It had him hurriedly picking the dice back up to toss again, this time halving the progress he had made before. It gave him the chance to pass through their square, seeing nothing but the responsive actions of the other man as they kicked at something.

Be Careful.

When was the last time someone actually cared about his well-being? It gave him a pause as he stepped into the last square on this round and smelled something unfamiliar. It was tangy, sharp, something that he couldn't quite place as he looked around. His ears perked up as they strained for a moment to hear a far-off sound.

"A bell?" Turning to look back towards Arakahn, something else washed over him before the breath he took in was cut off. Pulling a hand to his throat, he banged on the wall facing them as he felt something filling his lungs. A panic spread over his face as he looked at them and then at the dice on their side. He just had to roll after them, then it would stop, right?

Something pulled at his leg, dragging him from the wall, and he tried not to let it pull him down where that new sound of water was coming from. His eyes said to hurry, filled with fright at all this new and very dangerous information he was dealing with. This wasn't like when he'd been laid to rest by the Vinemoss; the suddenness of it and almost randomness of it had him feeling for a moment that maybe he didn't actually want to die. The feeling of not being able to breathe hurt so much more than the fuzzy darkness he'd fallen into back then.

Space 9:
The smell of saltwater fills the air, and you can hear the water lapping against the shore. You hear boards creaking, and bells in the distance. And then, a song. Haunting. Ghostly, and calling you. For a second, you fall in love. And then, water fills your lungs. You’re choking, you can’t breathe. The song is loud and seems to caress you, even as a wet chill gathers in your square. Scaly hands reach for you, you gently caressing, and try to lure you into an endless sleep.

At first, the square is quiet. Nothing seems amiss. It’s unnerving in how safe it seems. But then, it only takes a few seconds before you understand why. It’s just taken a moment for them to get to you. The patter of tiny feet is rapidly approaching. There’s no light to see them, but there’s a reflection in their beady eyes. Rats. Thousands of them. Chittering, frothing in the mouth. These are strangely grotesque, mutated abominations. They’re running at you like they haven’t got a fear in the world–only, hungry. And rage. If they get to you, they’ll eat you alive. The ground is trembling with their weight. You’d better roll quickly if you don’t wind up a meal.

A swampy smell fills the air. You take a step, and you seem to sink into it. Mud creeps over your feet, and you sink rapidly. Ankle deep, knee deep. Whether or not you squirm and fight against it, you are sinking. The mud is crushing and painful, and if you sink too deep it steals the breath from your lungs. There’s nothing to grab onto; you have to roll your dice quickly before that too gets sucked into the muddy quicksand.

As you step into your square, something cracks. At first, you can’t tell what it is, but as your full weight moves onto the square, the ground shifts beneath you. It’s cold, and it’s ice, and a hole falls underneath you, plunging you into frigid waters. There’s enough floating ice that you should still be able to roll the dice to get out of here, but you have to go quickly–you’re soaked, in chilly water, and something just swam by your feet.
