So they had decided on arrangements to meet again. Magnesia didn’t see much harm in it, especially if Leitner was already on some Chaos Mauvian’s radar- no one Mag knew, of course, but they’d be hard pressed to find a cat he did know, so this was fine (fine in the way he didn’t really want to tell anyone where he was going or what he was doing, just in case). So when he was dropped off from Negaspace, it was expected to be for ‘routine draining purposes,’ and he wasn’t going to correct the thought.
Despite some mild and ignorable uncertainty about how friendly he was supposed to be with the Mirror Court (mostly due to his General, Wolframite, who seemed to have an exceptionally poor opinion of them- and that was the only person Mag had spoken to who seemed to have any opinion of them), he was actually kind of excited?
Their first meeting had been less than ideal, with Mag walking away from it feeling kind of like a nag, but generally satisfied with the treats-
And he expected more treats today. That was very important.
But that one had had those stupid gargoyles chasing them, and they’d both wound up a bit bruised and injured, and Mag’s temper had made him snap once or twice at the obviously-confused-and-distraught Senshi. He expected this time to go better. This time was planned, and there wouldn’t be anything around to stop them from just having a decent, normal, not-adrenaline-infused conversation-
Magnesia’s steps slowed infinitesimally as his head turned toward the first sensation of an aura as it swept over him. A nearby Dark Mirror Senshi, basic in rank. Leitner, obviously (hopefully). This was where he said he’d take his wraith. But there was another, moving at a pace that definitely spelled trouble and didn’t feel accidental in its destination.
While Magnesia had been moving leisurely, the time for that was ******** over. He ran. Bolted in the straightest path his could toward the aura he suspected was Leitner. If a Youma beat Magnesia there, he couldn’t see it going in a good way. Such a monster might just devour a Senshi at the first opportunity- or if it didn’t, Leitner could decide that it was some kind of ambush Mag had set up. They’d hardly be ‘friends’ after that…
So Mag had no choice but to pump the gas and get there asap.
And do what, exactly, once he was there? Irrelevant. He’d figure it out when he got there.

While things had been at least mildly uneventful since he'd last been out and powered up the few nights prior, he had managed to take the time to work on a few other seasonally themed things. This time, they weren't for a client, so he dabbled more with things like spun sugar and cotton candy. As a personal joke, he'd also snapped sugar brittle that he'd drizzled some strawberry sauce on the edges of, which made it look like pieces of glass from a horror movie. It had been a while since he'd done that, so it wasn't as clear as he wanted it to be, but it still tasted good. This night, he had taken a bit of advice from Magnesia and tried to pay attention to how things felt besides that always present but now much more subdued feeling of crawling insects. It seemed to come and go based on how bad of a s**t show he was dealing with, so hopefully, with someone much more informed about some of this, it would go smoother. Something else seemed to be nearby, though, and unlike the gargoyles, he could feel it, but he couldn't quite place it. Fumbling the treats away so they wouldn't get broken or smooshed, he picked up the pace and looked for somewhere to dip into to hide. Not knowing seemed to be the problem, according to Magnesia, and honestly, with time to lie in bed and stare at the ceiling, he was inclined to listen and tuck himself into one of the alleys so he could at least know where whatever he felt was coming from. Plus, with all the garbage around, he spotted a broom that had some of its bristles broken off, which seemed like a good enough thing for now to help keep something away. His hand was already thanking him for not going right to punching since it was still bruised and healing.

The youma- a swarm, because of course it was- fluttered around the edge of the building, seeking the nearby Senshi. It looked like a trillion dark little bodies, seeming to fade in and out of existence, each one bobbing so close to another that they melded into one staticky mass.
Magnesia could only barely make them out in the darkness, mostly recognized their presence from aura alone.
But if he had to go on looks alone (which was not a perfect metric), he would say that this swarm was probably one of the stupid kind of Youma. And a Lieutenant telling them to ******** off was probably not going to be successful. Which was a shame, because that would’ve been easy and convenient and just exactly what he needed. Instead, he was sure it would be a fight, which meant he would have to go out of his way to defend not-his-comrade (Leitner) from something that actually shared the same Chaos he did.
It was probably fine. But it would be inconvenient if it wasn’t. And the Youma did not even seem to take interest in Magneisa’s presence (why would it; he was an ally). But that didn’t stop Mag from skidding to a stop just behind the Youma mass before it could turn down the alley toward its prey. And he could see that, yes, obviously the Senshi aura belonged to Leitner.
“You probably aren’t here because you’ve, like, just set up a mirror to run away through…?”

Finally getting to see the thing, or things, Leitner's eyes widened slightly as the swarm approached. By now it felt like the words that were about to slip out of his mouth were unfortunately becoming the tag line for his evenings. "What.... the ********?" Holding the broom up like a weapon to swat at the swarm, he heard Mag and then tried to shift to get a look at them. It was hard with how the swarm moved, but he could barely make out their shape, which was good enough for him. "I know there are some somewhere, but I found something that's not my hands this time." Which was an upgrade if he was being honest, because as he brought the broom down and through the swarm, the thing split to avoid it, but his efforts weren't in vain, as he saw little puffs of dust as some of the things had been hit. "Wait! Wouldn't that magic you have work like really well?" He questioned as he swatted at the swarm again with varying levels of success, seeing the mass get slightly smaller as it grouped together with each loss of a few of the little bodies that made it up.
