Prompt: For failing to finish their art project, Nalani and Oliver are now heavily encouraged by their teacher to work together on something new to make up for it. The murder attempt may make this awkward.

   Oliver had been beneath her, struggling for breath, struggling for last words. With all her focus upon the man she had intended to take with her, she hadn’t realized something had sliced through her arms and knocked her into the pool until she was drifting beneath the surface, her vision obscured by clouds of blood spilling from the tentacles that had fallen in a split second before herself. For a moment, there was an urge to keep her lungs, and let herself sink down deeper. Take a deep breath. She began to sink, staring up at the bubbles still trailing to the surface, at the blood swirling around her.
Did you forget?
Screams echoed over the rush of the water. The shadows of bodies blinked in and out of her vision. The calm certainty that had fallen over her like a veil was torn away.
You can’t die yet.
Her arms rapidly regrew and then withdrew after propelling her upward, through the water, through the blood, until cool air kissed her face. There was no sign of Oliver or whatever had attacked her. That was to their benefit; she would have killed them for their daring.
A few days later, she was reminded of the urge when the art instructor told her that she would have to do make-up work with Oliver, considering they never finished their assigned art project. She considered swallowing the teacher whole, too...and then had followed through with the impulse, snapping a whale's mouth cleanly around him and swallowing him down--only for him to walk out of her belly, unfazed.
Which was how she found herself in the art classroom at a time where class wasn’t in session, staring at a blank canvas as she waited for Oliver to arrive. Damn art instructor. Couldn't even be eaten properly. Maybe she would try drowning him next.
