He had lost the paper with Calder's information on it. He hadn’t meant to, but that night had been a lot, and Cordell must have put it down and just…forgot where it had gone.

Sabrina had wanted to go with him to Carters, but he had begged her off, insisting he was going to be okay, and telling her that Calder was going to meet him there. It seemed to satisfy his sister, and that was good.

Carter had given his things back and apologized, and that had been that, Cordell accepted it and…they were still together.

It had been almost two months now, and Carter hadn’t kicked him out or ended things since…and honestly, Cordell had hope that maybe…things really were different. He wanted them to be. He wanted this to work so badly…and when Carter was kind...he was wonderful. Cordell didn’t want anything more.

Cordell didn’t deserve anything more than this..

Carter was spoiling him still, and he enjoyed it…not so much being taken to restaurants but…he was trying. He didn’t want Carter to get annoyed, so he just…went along with it.

The restaurant was a fancy one, and Cordell felt utterly out of place but. That wasn’t anything new.

He sat down and drew in a breath, lifting the menu and hoping that there was going to be something he was interested in eating.
