Winter Star Poinsettias: (6) : Poinsettias are common during the winter seasons, so it isn't unusual to see them decorating windowsills and local establishments. What is unusual are the unique Winter Star Poinsettias that seem to have accidentally mixed into the bunch. They look like ordinary Poinsettias reflecting a bit of glow from nearby lights--only, the leaves themselves are emitting a soft, silvery glow. They look like they are covered with a fine morning dew, only with fine silver glitter peppered in to give it a unique sparkle. They seem to have gone unnoticed by most of Destiny City and the landscapers, and it's not clear how these plants were selected, but anyone with a keen eye might recognize them as the catastrophe of Destiny City Botanical Garden's 2016 Winter Extravaganza. Thankfully, these variants are far less dangerous than their counterparts, however, these plants have a strange pollen that acts like an allergen and can cause agitation, oversensitivity, and sneezing to anything with much of a strong smell. Anyone who comes into contact with these plants may also find themselves suffering from flu-like symptoms such as fever, coughing, fatigue, and nausea and no medicine will relieve it, but the symptoms gradually fade. The leaves of the poinsettia are sharp and can sting like a papercut, so be careful! ...If you're worried about an all-out attack again, it might be a good idea to destroy these poinsettias--if you can manage to do so without getting caught.
Sara was primarily meant to stay home today. Though, while staying at home, he realised Salami's treats were running low and decided to take his coat and just take a short walk to the nearest pet store he found around the area. In the pet store though, even got roped in helping the store with moving some boxes of product around. Some containing petstore items, and others containing christmas decorations that they likely didn't end up using.
Sara was more than happy to help, even if it made his short trip a little longer. He hadn't expected anything in return for such a small thing, but they ended up giving him a paperbag of some christmas decorations they didn't use. He initially wanted to refuse but their insistence made him feel bad so he ended up taking it anyway. Hardly looking at what was in the paper bag.
When coming home, he placed away the treats, deciding he might as well use the decorations people had kindly given him. But just as he opened the bag, frowned, seeing what was in the bag. A few leafy decorations, one big sock for hanging, some tree ornaments but what caught is attention the most was the flower wreath.
He pulled it out, inspecting it with a tense expression. Only softening when he recognised it didnt have flowers. Instead just these big red leaves that look like flowers. Sara couldn't be bothered to remember what they were called at the top of his head. He inspected the wreath further after placing them on the walls near the living room.
His fingers tracing the red flowers curiously before letting out a hiss, immediately pulling back, frowning at the papercut like injury on his index finger. How could mere leaves be that sharp? He'd need to warn his fiancee not to get too close to it. Even if it stung.. it was small enough for Sara to chooes to cover with a band aid and call it a day.
The rest of the day should be more predictable. Cleaning the house, decorating the rest of free decorations, and he had plans to liven up the dinner table a little more for the festive seasons. Wanting to make a hot dinner for Ginyami when he was back. Except what shouldve taken 3 hours to do, ended up taking double the time.
Out of nowhere, Sara had begun to sneeze. That was weird. Its been a while since he sneezed this much in his own house. He took allergy medicine but that hadn't helped, so he wore a mask pushing himself to clear the table. Managing to finish decorating it with candles, ribbons, some plants despite the coughs that seemed to be getting more frequent as time passed.
Sara had begun to feel the dreadiness seep into him. He had begun cooking, thinking if the heat was just from the stove heat. Unable to take it anymore, he turned off the stove fires and crouched down, coughing like there was no end to it. He begun to feel hot, feverish under his mask and clothes. Just closing his eyes made it feel like he was being burnt. He hardly registed the small paw tapping on his knee.
Salami gave a meek rare meow, as if trying to get Sara's attention but the coughing wouldn't stop. The front door opened but only Salami seemed to have heard it. She ran towards it as fast as her small paws could carry her all the way from the kitchen to the front door, uncharacteristically vocal despite her weak meows as she did when she greeted Ginyami at the door. Though it was mixed in with the sounds of Sara coughing harshly in the kitchen.
