Rainfall is rare in Destiny City during Winter; there have been a few light showers between the occasional snow but it’s never been enough to be significant. In some places, it’s just enough for a thin layer of ice to cover the ground and make it a little slippery, but ultimately it’s not enough to worry about. In an inconspicuous place in town, you step into one of these icy puddles and the thin layer of ice shatters. The hole itself seems maybe three feet wide and if you’ve ever been in the area before you know it’s just a pothole a few inches deep at most. Except, when the ice shatters, you fall, plummeting into it as if it were a lake of icy water. It’s pitch black around you and only pale blue lights shimmer above you. The darkness is never ending and you can’t make out the details of anything except the shrinking hole above you. Maybe you remember how to swim and pull yourself out, maybe you black out and feel someone else pulling you out--either way, your frozen, soaking body is pulled from the puddle. The chill is immense, but if you look at the hole after being pulled out, all you can see is the ground below. There’s no sign that what you just experienced is real--except for the fact that you’re still soaking wet.
Sara liked a few things about the winter time. For one, most flowers are dead. He wouldn't have to feel an inch to his nose and be assaulted by their bright colours. Next, he could wear all his usual clotes and even extra layers and no one would bat an eye. Complimenting his wardrobe that usually covers most of his skin, especially when he went out. Thirdly, he had an extra benefit to cuddle Ginyami whenever he had the chance, sharing his warmth. Even if he ensured their house was always warm and toasty, away from the winter cold.
Today they went out to have some time together without the threat of what was hidden in Destiny City. Without the stress of needing to meet their quotas to steal energy. Today it really was just a walk in the safer parts of the forrest nearby. A light track, a chance to breathe in fresh air, to get away from the city noise. Who knows, maybe they'll find rare unique plants that only come out during winter that Ginyami could be fascinated by. The joy on his face made it all more worth it to come out.
While walking and talking for a bit, they arrived at a rest area, with its own bench tables, with roofs over it, holding a generous amount of snow and stopping them from falling. The icicles dripping down it makes them sparkle like crystals. But Sara didn't pay attention to that. No, he was looking at the public bathroom.
He briefly told his fiancee he'll need to use it for a minute, and that he'll be back. He felt he didn't need to ask Ginyami to follow him in, knowing the other avoided the public restorooms unless he really really had to use them. Like to cry because he felt Sara hated him, like he had to before when they were kids. The public restrooms in america too sometimes tended to be….. different from the ones in Japan. He brought his fiance's gloved hand to kiss, before letting go and heading to the restroom.
When he had done his business, washed his hands throughly and dried them, he left the restroom expecting Ginyami to be nearby already. But he wasn't. Instead, there was an eerie silence that made the hairs on the back of Sara's name rise. Deep breathes.. in and out… just like Ginyami had taught him. He was probably overthinking again, but that hasn't stopped him from walking with a tinge bit of speed, scanning the area with a barely controlled panic in his gaze.
And thats when his gaze fell to a hole on the icy floor, that he swore wasn't there before. The think layer of ice still floating visibly on the surface as if it has been freshly broken. The unnatural bubbles that resurfaced to the surface from the middle of the puddle was all Sara needed to scream out Ginyami's name, rushing towards the puddle. He wasnt thinking or breathing properly. Panted breaths while he rushed to take of his hefty winter jacket. Only in his long sleeved grey shirt before disregarding the biting cold water as he allowed the chilling temperatures pull him in. Somewhere deep in his gut just knowing Ginyami was in here. And here he was.
Submerged in the depths of the water. Sara didn't even have the heart to feel grateful he knew how to swim, he just swam towards Ginyami. Placing an arm under his arms, and using the rest of his upper body strenght to pull them both out. It wasn't something he had to do before, but he wasn't worried about doing it right - he just had to do it now.
He pulled them out, gasping for air. Immediately checking for Ginyami's breath next. " Yami! Yami.. Oh god..here just.. hold on to me.." he whispered pleadinly like he hoped his fiancee could still hear him while he adjusted Ginyami to fall flat on the more solid part of the ground, away from the waters. Making sure Ginyami was out of the water first before pulling himself out. Shivering slightly from the cold that bit his skin, but turning back to kneel next to where his fiancee was.
" Ginyami?! Ginyami! Can you hear me? " he scrambled, panic overiding everything else in his thoughts as he placed a hand on chest, trying to find extra assurance he was alive. His other held the others cheek, pushing away the wet hair off his face with shaking hands.
