Even after such a long night Cliff woke up at 5am like clockwork, only half surprised that he and Abby were tangled together in a strange blanket-wrap that he assumed was her doing. It more amused him than anything else, really. He pressed his lips to whichever part of her body was closest as he moved, and when he finally managed to get free, after tucking her in he kissed her once more and went to get dressed for his daily jog.

Before leaving he left her a note in case she woke up before he got back, then he was out the door.

Abby had muttered and grumbled as Cliff detangled himself, barely waking enough to be aware of him getting up only to slip back to sleep once he tucked her back in. Snuggling into the blanket and pillow that smelled of him, ‘mine’ being the only legible word before she fell back into dream land.

She woke up some time later, not even sure what time it was only that her phone hadn't gone off. Abby disentangled herself, moving gingerly as body parts protested their use. She spent the time searching for her clothes to work out all the dull aches and still ended up just giving up and leaving the bedroom in her undies and the shirt Cliff had discarded last night. It didn’t take long for her to realize that Cliff was out, likely running, which meant it was early as hell. Abby hated waking up early but she might as well get stuff done since she wasn’t going to be able to go back to sleep so with a sigh she grabbed a bottle of water from Cliff’s mini fridge and started reading one of her textbooks while stretched out on the couch.

The jog was over before he even noticed, probably because half the time he was thinking of the woman likely still lying in his bed, sleeping peacefully. He'd never known Abby to be awake too early in the morning so he expected to be home, showered and ready with breakfast by the time she woke up. Figuring he still had some time he even stopped in and grabbed them some food before heading home, along the way practicing with the soccer ball he always brought on his runs.

The sight he came to brought the widest of grins to his lips; Abby relaxing on the sofa in what looked like nothing more than a t-shirt (and his, by the looks of it) and underwear.

"You're up early," he said as he kicked the ball one last time into the room before closing the door behind him. "Sorry, didn't mean to leave you here alone. I left a note though, and grabbed some breakfast on my way back." The brunette held up the bag of food and tray of drinks he was carrying to show her, then set them on the coffee table. Considering he was drenched in sweat he didn't want to linger before having himself a shower, but a part of him couldn't resist planting a drive-by kiss to her forehead before he went toward the fridge for some water.

"I thought you finished your homework and stuff last night?"

Abby looked up from her text and sighed, stretching to work lingering kinks out, when Cliff came back in. “Yes well it was rather unexpected for me too. How was your run.” She sniffed appreciatively at the smell of hot food and drink. “It’s ok Cliff, I know you went out running and I saw the note. Really appreciate the food by the way.” She hummed in appreciation, both from the drive by kiss and the food, before closing her book with a quiet thump and sniffing at the two cups. With a wrinkled nose she put one cup down and popped the lid off of the remaining cup. “Nothing beats a good cup of tea.” She sipped it gently and made another face, “Which this is not, but it will do.” Abby appreciated a good cup of tea but would settle for an acceptable cup of tea. “I’ll have to bring a tin of the good stuff over and I did but it never hurts to review what I’ve already read.”

"It was fine," he said before easily going through two glasses of water. "Tiring and refreshing at the same time. And you're welcome." Running was a cathartic sort of activity for him, and had been for as long as he could remember. His body was just so used to the exercise and thrived off of it, so going for even a single day without running did more harm to him than it did good. He leaned against the counter as he poured himself another glass, watching her with a curious expression as she sniffed at the tea.

"No good?" He wasn't the greatest at choosing tea, so he shot her an apologetic look before finishing his water. "Sorry. Yeah, bring as much tea as you like if it means you hanging out here more often." Cliff grinned as he made his way over to the bathroom. "I'm gonna grab a shower," and then he paused right by the door to glance back at her, "if you wanna join me? If you wanna save some time, I mean.”

“Like dancing is for me.” Abby smiled over at him, sipping her tea. She knew she would be spending more time in a studio today if only to work out every last kink and minor ache their antics last night left her with. It was kind of hard to believe that she had actually went a few years without ever dancing. After her mother passed Abby had gone through a period where even the thought of dance made her balk at ever doing another step. It had taken time, understanding, and a lot of work before she found her way back into a studio, back in front of the wall of mirrors, but now she was glad for it. The release of energy, the flow of the moves, and the way it seemed to just drive off all the stress while leaving her tired but energized.

She waved off his worry, sitting back against the couch cradling the insulated cup. “A good cup of tea is one brewed by yourself. Pre-made stuff just can't compare but it will do.” Abby took another swallow of the black tea, rolling her eyes at Cliff before saying with a chuckle, “You just want help with your math homework… and some good tea. But I’ll be a good girlfriend and bring some over for you to have. I’ll just have to teach you to brew it properly.” Honestly Abby didn’t know why she hadn’t brought over a good blend of tea leaves before except they normally stuck to water or the occasional soda. She would have to remedy that. She watched him as he moved across the room and paused by the bathroom door before making his offer.

With a hearty chuckle she rose from the couch, leaving her tea on the coffee table, and approached him. She slid right up to him and slipped her arms around his waist, never losing eye contact. “If I join you I don’t think we will end up saving time… or water. What do you think?” Last night had made her a little bolder than normal. The knowledge that he desired her as much as she did him, and that their sleeping together didn’t affect their relationship had her slipping more into her confident, some would even say bossy, self.

Girlfriend.

Whenever anyone said it he couldn't help the swell of his pride; even now, after being about as intimate as two human beings can really get, it still brightened his smile and made him wonder how in the hell he got so lucky to have someone like her in his life in any capacity, never mind being his girlfriend. To think it all really started with him stuffing his face at a kid's Halloween party...

Cliff watched her as she made her way over, a little surprised at the sudden boldness that she showed as she wrapped her arms around him. Maybe last night bolstered her confidence a bit? Whatever it was he definitely liked it, and he showed as much by responding to her question with a kiss. Short but firm, and then he wriggled out of her grasp to head into the bathroom and pull his shirt off. "Depends," he started as he slipped off his socks, "I think we can manage a bit of self control for the sake of getting to class on time." With a grin he turned the water on before glancing back at her, smile turned sly.

"If not, well..." he finished undressing and hopped into the shower. "We've still got plenty of time left before our first classes."

Abby hummed in pleasure as Cliff kissed her, frowning slightly when he pulled away and detangled himself from her but she couldn’t help but smile as he started to strip in front of her. “Ha, you mean I can manage a bit of self control.” She snickered and leaned against the door jam, her arms crossed as she watched him move. He had a way of moving that only athletes could pull off, a way of moving with a limited use of energy and excess movement. While it was tempting to join him, it wasn’t quite seven but Abby wasn’t sure how long their ‘shower’ would take and like earlier last night, she mentally took herself in hand and sadly shook her head. “We might have some time before your class but we might take longer than you have time.”

With an annoyed sigh she pushed off the door jam, “Maybe tonight we can see if a double shower is possible, once homework is done that is.” It was really the only thing to look forward to today since Abby knew that the big thing would be the discussion with her father. “Finish your shower in peace. I’ll pull out the food and I promise I won’t eat your half.” She made a face at him and closed the bathroom door so he could finish getting clean, and honestly didn’t tempt Abby to just throw all caution out the window and join him. By the time she could hear the water shut off the food was set out and she was still nursing her tea, reviewing her classwork. Getting up this early sucked.

There was a part of him that knew she wouldn't go for it, not so close to the start of his first class, so when she shot him down Cliff was only slightly disappointed. Deep down he knew she was right, though, and the fact of the matter of barring some sort of natural disaster they did have later on that night to have that kind of fun without the worry of time constraints. Which would be better, so he took a shower and finished getting dressed before heading back out to where she readied the food.

"Looks great," he said, though he barely glimpsed the food and was more eyeing her in that t-shirt get-up. He of course had to mentally rein himself in and flopped down where his coffee and plate were. No sense in getting shot down twice in one morning. He started readying a half of a bagel before looking at and once again pausing to just admire her, maybe a slightly goofy grin on his face. When he caught himself and his thoughts he cleared his throat and got back to eating. Being responsible was hard, what the hell...

"Did you wanna do lunch later today or you busy?"

Quote:
Abby smiled over at him and caught the look in his eyes as he took in her outfit, “Drink your coffee loverboy and eat your food. You have class sooner rather than later.” She focused on her own food because it was rather tempting to run her fingers through his wet hair and dishevel it. Instead she busied her hands with peeling the paper off of her muffin before cutting it in half so she didn’t make a huge mess when she started to eat it. The young woman glanced over at Cliff and hummed in thought as she took her first bite of the sweet mass of bread.

“I would love to do lunch but I need to talk to dad first. If I can catch him between my morning classes we can do lunch but if not,” She shrugged and took another bite. Abby really hoped to catch him between classes if only to keep any long discussions contained to a limited time. “What time do you have practice? If we can’t do lunch, maybe we can work on homework in the library before your practice and my afternoon classes.”

Quote:
The 'loverboy' got a smirk out of him, and he even playfully waggled his eyebrows as he started going through his breakfast--a little meat-stuffed omelet, a bagel and coffee. The good stuff, and the best part about it was he didn't have to do dishes afterward.

He still had food in his mouth when she answered, so he could only nod his head when she did. With his mouth full he could hardly wince at the mention of her dad; after last night he had a feeling he wouldn't be able to look the man in the eye until he and Abby told him exactly how involved they were. He washed the bite down with some coffee before clearing his throat.

"That's alright. Before practice works, too. It's not 'til three so I'll have basically from noon 'til then."

Quote:
Abby just made a face at him and started in on her own simple cheese and spinach omelet, humming in happiness at the first taste of the omelet. After swallowing she continued their conversation, “Yeah me too. My afternoon classes start then as well. I’ll text you when I know what's going on.” Another bite of omelet and sip of tea had her pausing before adding, “You still have your papers to work on so it might have to be a working lunch.”

With a sigh she finished up her food and stretched some, not really paying attention to how the shirt was riding up when she did so. “I’ve got to get back to my room before classes, can’t very well wear the same clothes as yesterday.” Climbing to her feet Abby leaned over and gave into the earlier temptation by messing up his hair before escaping to the bedroom with a laugh to get dressed. Now that she was fully awake it didn’t take her long to find her clothes and to switch out his shirt for her dress, re-joining him in the main room once she was presentable.

Quote:
"Working lunch is fine," he said as he polished off his food. "Less work to do after practice is always better."

Cliff kept his eyes on her as he sipped his coffee, well aware of how the shirt rode up as she stretched out on the sofa whether or not she was. Another nod of his head acknowledged her statement about having to go back to her dorm, so he finished up his coffee and started to gather up the trash. The brunette hummed contentedly as she mussed up his hair, eyes falling to the sway of her body as she headed back toward the bedroom. He in turn got up and went to brush his teeth, then fixed his bag and spent a minute looking for the soccer ball. By the time he found it she was back and properly dressed.

"Ready to go?" he asked with a bright smile, having been hit again with the reminder that he was dating someone as stunning as Abby.

Quote:
Grabbing her own gear she nodded, “ready when you are.” She slipped by him, pausing only once to give him a quick kiss before heading out his door. Once his door was locked and they were headed towards her building she slipped her hand in his. He had class but she still had a bit before her own, more than enough to get ready for the day. It still kind of made her mind reel a bit to think about just what they had done last night but Abby was glad they had actually taken the next step.

Once they reached her building she pulled him off to the side to avoid the few students heading out to their own morning classes. “I’ll text you after class. If we can’t get together, don't slack on the work.” She poked him in the side, a smile easing the bossy words. “We never did get to watch How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Now go to class Stud.” Abby leaned in and gave him a soft kiss on the cheek before ducking into her building with a laugh following her. Her day was just beginning and it was going to be a long one but it was hard to look at it in a grim light when every time she thought of their antics last night had her warming from the inside out. She was going to need a cold shower, the thought filtered in her mind as she entered her room and started to get ready for class.
